Leo--- that is so interesting about having a really big day now and then. I know you low carb like me too, on those really high days did you eat carbs? What kind of food were you eating?

Finished my first down day and kept it under 500 calories!
![]() I did not find it too hard to do. I did like the sense of control and remembering that "I can have it tomorrow" really made it quite easy. I found that this morning I was not even hungry and I felt very energetic. I thought that the world was mine and I could have anything I wanted to eat and thus I didn't feel the need to eat as much. I've weighed and measured everything today and I'm having a hard time getting to 1600 calories. I will need to eat more calorie dense foods on UDs and plan a little more, but this is fantastic. Now if I can register a loss eating this way I will probably be the happiest girl in town. ![]() Thank you everyone for all the support. My book should be on the way today. |

I'm not used to looking at calories so much, only carbs so once again it takes me a lot longer to make it through the grocery store. |

I do have the low fat cottage cheese, but no buttermilk. I picked some of the low fat buttermilk up in the grocery store the other day to look at the calorie count and then put it down. I can barely fit another thing in my refrigerator with all of the low carb plus low calorie food in there. |

Hopefully no one takes this wrong, but I would go crazy trying to have low carb foods and low fat foods in my fridge. It seems like that would mess with my mind too much.
I need to stay on one track so I do not get frustrated. Because I have been LCing and counting calories for quite awhile, I pretty much have the numbers down for LC meals. If on down days I started throwing low fat options in to get the calories down, I'd go crazy (and be too hungry). I prefer to eat a little higher fat and less food. I don't like being hungry and the fat really holds me through the day and night. I had my first meal at 12:00 noon. It was 2 Cups of Cabbage with 2 strips of bacon and 1T oil. For dinner I had 2 Cups of blackberries and cherries with 2T of cream. I feel full and happy. I'm just always tired by 8pm on my DDs and want to go to bed. Maybe I'm just simple minded, but I enjoy eating very simple, full fat meals. Every time I try to cut out the fat, butter, cream, etc...I miss it too much.

Cherry Blossom, I am with you. I always make homemade dressings and have gotten so used to full fat that it is really hard for me to try and make stuff low cal for my down days. I have resorted to using Hellmans lite mayo in making some of my dressings and it is okay. Tonight I made another one of my chopped salads that came in at 430 calories including this dressing:
1 tb lite mayo, 1 tb evoo (yowza 120 cals right there), lemon juice, dijon, red wine vinegar, a dab of anchovy paste and some buttermilk. I really like adding buttermilk to my dressings, it makes them tangy and creamy and is pretty low cal. I even added a little water to it. A friend told me to buy a bernstein chardonnay vinaigrette the other day. Said she liked it?, but when I looked at the ingredients at the store, I could not justify spending $4.59 for the bottle when the first ingredient was WATER! |

DD#2 tomorrow
Hi everyone
I was at 583 calories for my first down day yesterday. Today's up day was good. And i didn't go crazy either. I actually just ate normally, maybe a little more but pretty good and tomorrow is DD#2. I am a little concerned about it but we'll just see how it goes. I did find that when I got up I wasn't hunting for piles of food. I found myself standing in the kitchen wondering what to eat too. I've read that on here recently from others and it happened to me too. Interesting. I also weighed in at 261 this morning. I started the Crack the Fat Loss Code foodplan last Monday and stayed with that until I found you guys on the weekend when I switched over to JUDDD. CTFLC doesn't let me have any fruit for 5 or 6 weeks (can't remember) and I just can't do that. So I've had a good weightloss start back and hoping this turns out to be good for me. Thanks for reading. |

Hi ladies,
I posted a week ago or so. Today was my first day and it mostly worked. I think I had about 700 calories. It's hard to divide up into "breakfast, lunch and dinner" because I tried to eat throughout the day so I wouldn't get too hungry. Here goes: Coffee with splenda Salad (just salad no toppings) with 2 tbsp dressing, 85 cals Spinach dip, 1 tbsp, 70 cals Acai fruit juice super-concentrate, 120 cals 2 spelt crackers with 2 tbsp salsa, 70 + 10 = 80 cals Salad (dinner) with 2 tbsp dressing, 85 cals Fish filet w/ pepper and lemon juice ~200 cals Total: 730. Maybe next time I'll cut out the super-concentrated acai juice? |

Snaggle
On those high calorie days, I really didn't have a "carb fest," but probably more carbs than usual. On the first one, I just had more of the usual food that I eat--double veggies, more protein, etc. On the second one, I was on vacation, and ate more carbs--e.g., Eggs Benedict--and I ate the English muffin; a couple of teaspoons of dessert, etc. But I really never went overboard on carbs. It was mainly more food in general. By the way, before JUDDD, when I was just doing low carb, about once every 4-6 weeks I would deliberately have a high carb meal (just one) because I read that it helps keep your body from getting too used to the same foods. When I did that, it was mainly beans, brown rice, or whole wheat pasta as the basis for the meal. I still avoided sugar. I don't remember getting any significant loss from that compared to what I've experienced with the high calorie day on JUDDD. But I also want to limit these high calorie days to every 4-6 weeks because they could too easily become the norm for me:-) |
