Cherry Blossom the dip sounds yummy. Great job losing! KUTGW!

I have lurked here for more than a month to find encouragement and motivation, reading the March and April threads. I had had a hard time finding active discussion on The Alternate Day Diet after I found the book. But here there was a lot of inspiration.

In one month and a few days I lost 10 pounds, from 162 to 152, more than 6 percent of my body weight.

Because these answers to questions here might help someone, I will answer briefly:
No, I haven't done LC – I found this site because of an internet search for discussion on the A-day diet.
I was only uncomfortable once, on the first down day, relieved by a sensible supper.
I did about 50% EAS AdvantEDGE shakes at first, now having them for breakfast on DD.
I do not think I have thyroid issues.
I was grateful for post of video of the talk show and felt as you did.
The long-term health benefits of UDDD eating are fascinating to me so I wish I’d gotten baseline bloodwork first to compare . That would be a recommendation for anyone beginning.
Another recommendation - buy the book. Worth it.

I felt that each person who posted in the two threads deserved a Thank You Note from me. You have been appreciated.[/COLOR]
Whitlin I glad you found us. I do not lowcarb either. Great job on your weight loss.

I cannot find my book. I brought it to work and had it on my desk and someone must have borrowed it.
I hope they find it helpful.

I still haven't lost so I did a little "project" while I am waiting to see a Dr. It's in the ML... "before" and "current" pics.

Well 2 of those 7 lbs. I lost seemed to have found their way back Maybe it was because I had an UP day yesterday? I was still a little below my limit of 2515 cals. Hopefully those 2 lbs will be gone again by tomorrow and maybe if I'm lucky an extra one to boot.

Mike - I am ALWAYS up after an UD. It always comes back off after a DD. JUDDD can make the scale go all over the place, but as long as my overall trend is down, I am happy.

I had alot of HWC yesterday too. I made cream of mushroom soup from Linda Sues and just that had a 1/2 cup. Plus the amount I put in 2 cups of coffee and a little in my pumpkin soup. While my calories were still under the limit I think I will only use it for coffee. All that HWC can't be good for losing weight.

Also, I drank alot less water yesterday than I did the day before on my DD. I really need to do some planning ahead for my UD's and find recipes etc. I'd like to try to reduce a few things like sodium, etc. Maybe lower the fat a little too.

Mike - Like Leo, I'm continuing to eat LC while doing JUDDDD. On UD's, I eat just a normal LC day. Last night, I did add a small baked sweet potato with my dinner. I'm not watching calories (yet) on those days. Since I did lose before on JUDDDD pre-LC, I'm hoping with both the calorie AND carb cycling, I'll see better results this time. Keeping it LC also helps tremendously with my appetite.

msgirl - I seem to be in menopause so my monthly cycles are gone for now. But, I do tend to retain water after I exercise. So, I try to stay away from the scales after an UD and if I've exercised the night before.

Marypose - girl, you look downright sexy in that new avatar!

Whitlin' - glad to see you out of Lurkersville and congrats on the weight loss!

Hello to all the newbies!

I'm on a DD. Made my huge pumpkin egg cream and had half for breakfast, the other half to be savored mid-afternoon. Dinner will be Fage yogurt with some sf jello powder sprinkled in. All that puts me at a little over 500 cals for the day, but I'm aiming for around 600 so I'll probably figure out something else little to eat.

Congrats to all the losers, especially those hitting their lowest weights or goals!

Vanilla, you might be waiting a long time.... but if we both stick around here, maybe in 2014 (I might get pregnant in 2010 or 2011 so that will put things on hold )

This may help too!
The Induction Phase – 2 Weeks

During the first two weeks of the diet, your Down Day calorie intake will consist of no more than 20 percent of what you would normally consume. A calorie counter is provided below so that you can figure out what your normal calorie intake and Down Day calorie intake should be. However, to simplify matters, Dr. Johnson has rounded off daily intake to 500 calories for Down Days during the induction phase.

20% here too. I'm trying to go by the book on this one. I'm even doing the LC shakes for the first 2 weeks.

In case you didn't see on the JUDDD site there is a calculator that will figure out your calories for you after you punch in your ht, wt, etc.

No offense taken!
I stay at 20% which is about 450 calories for me. If I go over (which is very rare) about 100-150 calories I don't worry about it.
