Hi Rhonda:

I was just wondering if you read the book by Dr. Johnson? He stresses the importance of the first 14 days (Induction) of DD's being only 500 and no higher. This activates SIRT1 in the body, which speeds up metabolism. He says this is very important to not go over 500 cals. during induction. While JUDDD is a flexible and individual woe, induction is supposed to be pretty much by the book. I did not loose any weight the first 14 days on JUDDD. It was after the third week that I showed weight loss on the scale. I have a friend who says she cannot do JUDDD because of the DD's. I don't pressure her at all to stay on the diet. She's the best judge as to whether the diet is for her or not. You're the best judge as to whether this woe is right for you. I hope you find success in whatever woe you choose.

By the time I got motivated to get out and get my shakes it was already late in the afternoon so I only had 2 shakes plus one coffee with cream. I will keep my DD to around 500 or so after today.

I don't think it matters if your DD are lower than calculated, correct me if I am wrong ladies but I think Dr. Johnson said the lower the better, just don't go over 500 during the first two weeks. The allowable calories on DD are just to make the plan easier to maintain.

I lent my book out so if I am remembering this wrong, please speak up.

Yes, he said the lower the better. But he also said if a person isn't losing, and they're keeping their DD calories to where their supposed to be, the problem is most likely too many calories on UD's. However, I think retaining water is a major factor with some people. I think sometimes we want to rush diet programs without allowing our bodies the time to adapt and flush out extra water and fat.

Yes, I know that DD calories can be low, but I commented to Mike since he's just beginning, and I was worried that in keeping his calories too low, he might find DDs too difficult. That's why I asked if he'd checked his calorie limit with the website. I didn't mean to imply that he was doing anything wrong; I was just concerned that he might not know that he could have more on a DD.

I know how freaky it is at first but just keep doing what you're doing... i think you're on the right track. I mainly control carbs now because of the help with appetite.
Thank you, this made me feel a lot better about my numbers...especially the bolded.

Hi,

I have some questions. I've read part of the official site, but not all.

1. Do you do a DD every other day, so that one week you have 3 dds and the next you have 4 dds? Or Do you just do 3 dds a week?

2. Are you all doing this LC? Or are some of you eating what you want?

3. Do you really lose weight doing this?

4. Has anyone's health problems, whatever they may be, cleared up or at least improved?

I appreciate your help!

I think your fat grams look fine in comparison to your carbs.
If they were both high (like mine yesterday ) then thats when you need to be concerned. High fat when combined with low carb will not make you fat, I've lost over 80 lbs eating that way

I winding down another DD and this one was hard. It was my first one since going back to work after spring break. I am used to breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner at regular times. It seems like it would be easier at work than home... but it wasn't. The cals in my planned foods were fine, but I had a few carrots and some hummus at a b.o.r.i.n.g meeting and now my son is baking cookies. I think I'll go get a Diet Pepsi and plan to eat one of those cookies for breakfast (even though I probably won't really do it).

I checked on the website and my:

DD=503 cals.
UD=2515 cals.

Today I had about 2250 cals according to ******. I really didn't eat alot either considering about 700 of those calories were just from the 1/4 cup of mayo in my tuna and the 1/4 cup of blue cheese dressing on my salad. I never realized mayo had so many calories in it!!

Also, my net carbs were around 31

Good Morning!!!

Last night I went to bed totally starving. DH was like "OMG, your stomach is SO loud" but I kept repeating "I can eat tomorrow" to myself and it worked, lol

I woke up this morning and I'm not the least bit hungry. Its so strange and wonderful!!

Today was my first weigh in and I have lost 1.8 lbs since starting JUDDDD last week

I still have 2 lbs to get to my all time low which I hit for literally ONE day back in Feb...I really feel like I'll be there on my next weigh in
