Yay Kisha! I'm so glad you found something to work for you.

I'm hoping for "twin" results.

Well, I started with Fast Five, so it wasn't really Updays and Downdays. I think the Ups and Downs are just water retention when I had alot of carbs and things like TOM. Some days I would eat alot more calories than others.

I hope that makes sense.

sorry for the threadkill...i am ...sorry. I called my friend who does not work and she is staying the night over there with her and I will go tomorrow...sorry. I am okay . I just feel bad for my friend.
it is weird but the first thing I thought was I was glad it was a shake day so I can pile them in a bag and not worry about my diet while at her house tomorrow.
Is that shallow...
I just got up and ate 2 sugar free chocolates when I hung up and posted...it is like a smoker lighting up....BOOM....something tragic...I go eat.
It does not help. it just makes things worse.
crazy.
i am supposed to weight every day on this other thread I am challenging at but I think i will weight the day after a down day and just double my numbers.
I am off to bed guys
See you tomorrow and sorry if this was weird.

Well, this diet was working for me but I pretty much fell off the wagon right away! Apparently, there are two kinds of diets: ones I can stick to and ones that make me lose weight.

Am going to try to just hop right back on with another DD tomorrow. If anyone has any advice on staying motivated/not shoveling every food ever into your mouth during every waking minute, please share it!!

Heather, I'm starting my first DD tomorrow too (437 calories for me). I'm thinking of doing this:

~ Drink coffee w/ half n half and splenda all day (like 150 calories allotted to splenda & half n half)
~ Eat Greens/cucumbers/bell pepper salads with FF italian dressing & herbs
~ chicken / veggie soup
~ One whole glass of water every hour

I have to drink a lot of water to keep myself feeling 'full'. The first few DD's were the hardest and drinking diet soda got me through.

Plus, I usually go to bed early on DD's, otherwise I'm drawn to the kitchen.

I am totally shocked at how smoothly yesterday (my first DD) went. I'd love to be so lucky every DD but I'm sure some will be tougher than others. Last night while I was in bed I was thinking about how happy I would be to have my bacon & eggs this morning for breakfast. I woke up today and now I don't really feel like being bothered with making anything

Here's my JUDDD story. I lost about 80 lbs on general low carb (just eliminating starch and sugar) over the course of several years. But I have much more to lose I am post-menopausal AND hypothyroid, so my loss is very, very slow due to my slow metabolism. However, in 2008, I spent the entire year losing and gaining the same 10 lbs and was very, very frustrated.

Just before Christmas, I discovered JUDDD and began. I've had a steady, slow loss of 19 pounds in the 16 weeks that I've been on JUDDD. That is remarkable for me--given my age and medical issues. I also have severe osteoarthritis that limits my mobility (I swim for exercise).

Because of my very slow metabolism, I have to eat <1000 cal a day to lose (my endo confirms this and encourages me to limit calories like this). I found that almost impossible to do on a daily basis, but with a 400 cal DD and a 1400 cal UD, I can manage this because those UDs feel like a feast in comparison to the DDs!

What I love about JUDDD is not simply the weight loss, but the insight it has given me into my food issues. I never believed I could function on 400 cal for a day--yet my DDs are not really a problem. I feel in control of my eating for perhaps the first time in my life.

Good Morning Juddders!!

I had a very successful Upday yesterday. I came in around 1796, which is great. I have struggled to not go way over. The trick for me was to hold off on eating till later in the day. I used my Fast Five skills and it worked great!

I am only up .4 after an Upday and TOM. I am really hoping I see an awesome number tommorrow!

Hello & Welcome LC-Chica and Spacecowgirl!

heatherdazy - For me fiber gives me that full feeling so that helps. Some say protein does it for them. Experiment and see what satisfies you the most. Stay positive and be kind to yourself when you're tempted. And keep busy, do something with your hands or throw yourself into a project.

aim - Oh, I'm so sorry about your friend's parents. You are a good friend to be with her when she needs you. I will keep you and your friend in my thoughts and prayers.

dointhis - Congrats on a great DD!

Aim, I'm so sorry about your friend's parents. When I was about 20 a good friend's dad shot himself. That was tough. I can't imagine both parents.

It looks like everyone is doing well with the plan. It is really exciting to think something might finally work!

I'm back in for another DD today! My UD went great yesterday:

Calories 1,819
Fat 88.0 790 40 %
Carbohydrate 167.0 658 33 %
Dietary Fiber 20.1
Protein 128.6 524 27 %

My calories weren't very "up" (for me anyway), but my carbs were. I ate when I was hungry and ate what I felt like (within reason) and that's where they fell. I had a oatmeal, bacon & eggs, a turkey sandwich on sprouted wheat bread, an apple, cottage cheese and a bowl of Cheerios.

I went on a good run/climb (I call it a run/climb because I live above the beach. Getting down is easy, but coming back involves about 5 flights of stairs up the bluff and a long, gradual hill back to my house). Under this flab I probably have the best looking butt in town. I just started working with free weights and I'm planning an upper body workout today.

I took a peek at the scale this morning and my weight held steady. Hopefully I can get back to my siggy weight with another DD.

I haven't figured out what I'm going to eat today beyond a protein shake. I have a gallon of iced tea and a big pot of coffee brewing right now though. I know I'll be drinking!

Have a great day everyone!

That's something else I like about DDs. I don't have to worry about preparing food or extra dishes! Since I save almost all the cals for dinner, I do have that to worry about, but any LESS work surrounding food is a great thing for me!

Yesterday was a UD. I had everything planned out, but when I got home from work, I felt a familiar feeling. I don't know how to describe it, but I started opening the refrigerator a few times in a row. Then some cabinets. I realized I was about to binge. I started playing a video game to distract myself, but I was back in the kitchen for some reason a few minutes later. I decided if I wasn't going to totally win, then I was gonna eat the least destructive food I could find. I preferred something terrible for me, but I grabbed a bag of baby carrots and must have had 20 of them. First of all, that's the first time I've identified a binge and acknowledged it before it happened. Secondly, if I let it happen, it's always on something bad for me. Even though I ate anyway, I'm so proud I did it on my terms.

DD for me today. All I have to do is figure out dinner today. Woohoo!

For me, it's coffee and staying busy. Get out of the house, go shopping and try on clothes the next size down. Read diet or exercise books. Read up on something you like to do, or would like to try (I have three marathon books waiting for me to pick them up at the library right now). Start a garden or plant a few things in pots if you don't have the room. Go for a walk, hike or run. Did I mention coffee?

Okay ladies and gents may I join you? I have been reading this threads and contemplating this WOE for a while.

I have had my thyroid checked and other blood work etc, but can't figure out my problem with lack of weight loss. Actually i will lose 5 gain 5 repeatedly!!! It is quite discouraging! So, I thought I would give this a shot.

Today is my first DD - those seem quite easy - besides the tummy growls!

Can someone please post some UD menu ideas?

Thanks for any added support or ideas

I have had a total of one UD and I just ate what I usually eat, so I don't really have an recipes to share. I was interested in what people ate on their DDs. It's been a long time since I did Weight Watchers or anything like that so I really needed the low cal brush up.

Gina- I have one Chocolate Egg Cream for dinner and that's it. I just started doing that. Some things I have had are a 2% Fage mixed with PB2 = 155 calores.
Or 2 fried eggs w/6 pieces bacon = 290 calories.

All the above are very filling for me.

Gina,

Google "Dotti's Weight Loss Zone", she has a ton of Weight Watcher recipes

I am going to use those for my DD. I know me and I still need my 3 meals a day not to feel deprived.

Today is my first UD and I am eating as I normally would.

B-bacon, eggs, coffee w/hc
L-tilapia & squash cooked in butter
D-roast & brussel sprouts w/butter
S-cheese, dark chocolate

HTH

Gina, I eat a variety of things on DDs ...

salads with a bit of protein and FF dressing
non-fat greek yogurt with fruit
shirataki noodles with veggies, sort of lo mein style
stir fry

msgirl, I just eat what I normally would on UDs. I am doing low to moderate carbs along with JUDDDD and I tend to lean toward whole foods. But I have my moments with giving in to temptations. I'm trying hard to keep those as rare as possible.

I wouldn't mind telling ppl what I eat, but I know some of you are doing LC, and I'm not.

On UDs, I eat whatever I want, but I count my calories. I know the diet says not to, but I have to. I try to range 1700-1900.. but it's usually about 1750 for me. I have had an oreo, but accounted for it. I eat sandwiches, chips, tacos, salads, steak, veggies, pork chops. Everything I've always eaten. Just in moderation.

On a DD, I eat nothing until about 4. Then I have a veggie. Then I have 450 cals of dinner. I measure out. One night it was pot roast, the next it was baked chicken wings. I even had a low cal version of chicken & dumplings I made, and the last DD I had beef stew. I eat everything I normally eat. I just have to measure out the calories first and I save them mostly for dinner.

If there's anything that I just can't eat to keep it under 500, then I save it for tomorrow, the UD.
