Maryposa... so you are DIGANOSED HYPOTHYROID? Sounds like it. You need to be getting Thyroid Replacement (via scrip). I recommend ARMOUR Thyroid. Its natural and contains all of the thyroid hormones plus its cheap. Are you not on thyroid meds? Sounds like you should be. And yes you should get your adrenals checked too via a 4x salivatory test. Not sure thats the right word but you take four samples throughout the day.

I personally don't use fruit. I upped my carbs with veg first and then have climbed the rungs up to the nut and nut butter rung. NOT HARD to get in plenty of healthy carbs that way. Grapefruit is too sugary for my taste but she's probably right about where the carb count would come in.

Not yet... haven't been to the Dr. But that is why she said even if the tests come back "normal" I should take ALA and a few other things for thyroid support because of low body temp (usually 96.5 or so) and dry skin patches (classic symptoms) of course also the lack of weight loss, and gain on weight watchers. She said that they have done the "treat the symptoms" bit with success on people with similar experience to mine whose results were "normal". So, I am hoping to give it (yes, I would use Armour) a go. I just hope I can get a Dr. who will help me .

She said Induction (the latest version) + half a grapefruit would do it.

She also mentioned getting my andriods checked. Would make sense since I seem to be gaining alot of muscle and I retain water like crazy. The first week I started exercising intensely I gained like 7 lb.

As for thyroid she said in cases like this (my basal body temp is 96.5 or so and I get dry skin patches) they add thyroid support even if tests come back "normal" and it helps.

Hmmm, I guess either way I need to say goodbye to ZC for now. I am so tired of jumping around even though I HAVE given at least a month to each new change. I just wanna find what works and DO it!

Is this the nutritionist who, with her Doc husband, is practicing in NYC and was on the boards very briefly (kinda looked like it was to promote their new book)?

I personally do not believe that there is such a thing as "thyroid support" supplements that actually work. Get thee to a doctor. Get thee thoroughly tested. This should be TSH, Free T3, Free T4 and antibody tests (to check for Hashi's)

Yes, she is still here, spends time in the blog section mostly though. Their book comes out today so she has been busy with that. She was here before the book a couple of years ago, but I think she got busy with family (twins!) and business. She is very nice. I am going to buy her book. Not only might it help me, but I feel it's the least I could do for all the time she has spent e-mailing me and she called me Sat and spoke with me for 45 mins from home (I heard her kids in the background) on her own time.. Book out or not, not everyone would do that

Ya, I have tried many a suppliment. She was referring to Armour in her own practice, but I am not her husband's patient so they can't prescribe that for me. She said I should AT LEAST up the carbs, take a multivitamin, and try ALA for a month or more. Of course I will be going to a Dr as soon as I can (insurance ), she's going to help me make a "plan" of what tests I should request.

Sounds Good Hon! I can relate about the insurance. I have a $2500 a year deductible which is why I have postponed my latest round of blood tests and doctor visits longer than I should.

I actually have an HMO (co-pay, no deductible) but what I have to wait for is the switch to a different Dr. Change takes affect May 1. Last Dr was one they assigned to me and horrible. I couldn't even get an apt!!!

Hi ladies!

I'm back from a wonderful weekend away at my parent's house. My kids love going there. They have a park literally 100 feet from their back yard. They also have two cats, which the girls chase and scream after and then they call the cats mean when they hiss at them (gee, I wonder why)! lol Anyway, I tweaked my plan a bit. Thursday was a normal DD for me, and I usually have Fri and Sat as UD's. So instead I chose to do an MD on Friday at about 1200 cals and Sat and Sun were UD's. Today is DD again and I am doing true alternate days this week. I peeked at the scale this morning (yesterday's UD was ridiculous, I must have eaten my weight in chocolate eggs and swore I didn't want to know what I weighed) and I am only up a pound! I'll take it. I kept my exercise up the entire time, so that may have something to do with the minimal damage. Normally when I do two UD's in a row I gain 2 pounds. Or it could be that my metabolism repair plan has really made a big difference. Hard to tell but again, I'll take it!

Michelle - sounds like we had similar weekends and the weight gain was worth it! We will be back on track soon!

Snaggle - glad you had a good time! Your meals sound scrumptious. You will lose those pounds quickly. We have to factor in holidays and social events as well. I will gladly take a few pounds of weight gain over not eating with my family over the holidays!

Maryposa - sounds like you are struggling to figure out your thyroid stuff. I hope you find a good doc. Kisha has given you great advice!

Kisha - I love the term carbtastic! lol I will quote you. I too had a carbtastic weekend! You will get back on track quickly, you are very disciplined!

Kamicryze - good for you for not letting DH persuade you to have that burger and fries! You have amazing willpower! My DH and I have a good system. He doesn't tempt me by eating my favourite foods on my DD's. He is generally a pretty healthy eater anyway so it works out.

Hi to e/e and enjoy the last of the holiday (if you have today off that is)!

Maryposa - I was following the weight loss plan well after I reached my goal weight and the calories were way too low! At 20% weight loss my DD's were 300 and UD's were 1500, so I was averaging only 900 cals per day. I exercise 6 days a week as well. It dawned on me that I was eating WAY too little, so mammapo, from the original JUDDD thread designed a plan that would increase my calories without a huge gain. I have been following it for almost 3 weeks, and my DD's are now 800 calories (instead of 300) and my UD's are around 1750-1850. I managed to get back to my goal weight even with the increased cals, so I think the plan is working! It's nice to be able to eat more!

Just dropping in to say hello, glad to see everyone doing great even after the week. We are back on track.
I haven't weighed to see the damage, I think I will wait until my regular weigh in day on Saturday.

Later!

Thats my plan too. Well its my PLAN! At least I wasn't fool enough to weigh myself this morning! I MAY be tempted tomorrow a.m. after liquid fast today but I guess I'll try my ring on first. If its tight... NO WEIGHING.

Hello ladies! Enjoyed my final day off today, back to work tomorrow. I did get in some yoga today. I'm working on a spaghetti dinner right now. Dh and I are back on track today. I can't believe the damage I've done by falling severely off the wagon but no time to be down about it, gotta get back to where I was. Last week when I weighed I was 128. I won't weigh again for two weeks. Last night I also got in a bit of a Wii workout. It said i hadn't been on there in 31 days. Wow!!!!!

I have been a bit depressed. They're restructuring at work and we got an email on Thursday stating we should know in the next three weeks who still has a job and who doesn't. I prayed about it and put the matter in God's hands. There's nothing I can do so no point in stressing about it. It could be a sign or it could be a test. I guess we'll soon know.

But you HAVE done all that you can! Giving it to god is one of the best coping mechanisms there is. I've always found it so much easier to accept the outcome...

It sounds pretty dang stressfull - kudos to you getting back on track in spite it all. You know what to do and will be back down in no time flat.

That's awesome! I hope to repair my metabolism too
I think the trick is taking it slow, do you agree?

Yes, I agree. I will tweak again by slowly increasing my UD calories again, and maybe lowering my DD ones but only slightly. I think if I had increased my calories by too much I would have seen an initial gain and I would have freaked out about it and gone back to eating too few calories. What I've done so far, thanks to the help of mammpo, seems to really be working for me. I've always equated taking it slow with lifestyle, versus diving in to a diet. I like woe over diet much better!

Hi everybody. I must join the others who overate this weekend. Had the whole family here and I made a huge ham Sat and then ate it again Sun. I hope it was the high salt content that has my weight up 5 pounds in 2 days! I kept my carbs low but my fats were off the chart and I just overindulged.

DD today - did 250 cals and I'm done eating for the day. Jogged my 4 mile trail. Hopefully I'm back on track. I'm finding that I'm very hungry on UD's. Got to limit them to 2000 cals. How can that possibly be hard??

Had a ball watching the grandchildren enjoy their egg and "treasure" hunts and did a baking project with them as well as wrapping eggs - what a joy.

Worked yesterday and today - got lots of overtime this week - so I'll be beat. Maybe I won't have time to be a glutton!

Sounds like everyone is doing great. Happy thoughts to all!

Ham is WAY SALTY and I'm sure thats the culprit! You're back on track now and thats what counts. I think you're in good company as far as the over-did-it-weekend goes! Alot of us are in the same boat.

I too really struggle with UDs (more than most DD). Dr. Johnsons says that when weigh loss stalls or slows ridiculously its usually the UD that is the culprit. I am on a constant quest to keep mine under 2000. How hard can it be? Hard! LOL.

HI everyone--I am just popping in for a minute to say hi before bedtime. Looks like you are all discovering some good ways to keep on moving in the right general direction with JUDDD and scale readings, I am sticking to my VLC and not quite as closely to JUDDD right now but am not too concerned since the scale is holding steady--amazingly!

I think my weight is not going up because I have been getting a lot of physical exercise working with the DD's on their vacation house. Baby DD has gone back to MA, but older DD is still here and we have a whole week of hard work ahead of us before she and her DH head back to Ann Arbor a week from today.

WHERE is Dasiey and what is she up to? Is anyone keeping an eye on her?

Good Morning Tweakers!

Well, JUDDD was VERY forgiving after the UP weekend I had. This morning I am back down to 124.4, which is .6 higher than my low. I am NOT complaining!!

I had a GREAT DD yesterday, and only had an Egg Cream shake for dinner. That was it!! I also walked on the treadmill on my lunch break for an hour. I felt great!

Today is an UD, and this is usually harder for me than DD. I see alot of people go through the same thing.

Anyway, Happy Tweaking everyone!

Michelle

That is very nice of her to do that consulting with you. I'm in their area and am considering an appointment with them even tho the practice does not take insurance. Don't know yet how much they charge for an initial consult/appointment, but it might be worth it to see what they say about my situtation.

For me, personally, I am thinking it is worth it. Getting weight off is my #1 priority right now. I don't know how much it would be either but if you have a good Dr... maybe you can do what I am doing and get all the bloodwork etc you need done by your regular dr and ask for it to be sent to Valerie for her evaluation. She is helping me put together what bloodwork I need to ask for, and she will help me with general guidance but if I want specifics (for her to evaluate my history, bloodwork, diet, etc) I will make a phone apt through her office. I also thought about doing this years ago with Dr. A's office ... I have always struggled I probably should have then, maybe I would be where I want to be, but I didn't have the money then for sure.

Hello Tweakers!

I had a big weekend too, with Easter and my son's b-day, ended up having some high calorie days. I managed them by making Saturday, Sunday and Monday all Fast-Five days and was rewarded with only a moderate scale increase this morning instead of the 5+ pounds it can go up for me when Saturday and Sunday are both up days. So yay! I think cycling in some fast-fives is exactly what I need right now since I think my body had me all figure out with the M-W-F water fasts. Today is a wf so far but there will probably be a meal worked in here at some point.

I've broken the habit of everyday weighing bc I dont wanna know what it looks like after a UD. But I did weigh this morning since yesterday was the DD. I lost 2 more lbs, so that would be 6 total. All I care about, is the scale finally budged well below this SPECIFIC number I had been stuck at since the beginning of January. I'm so glad I heard about Judddd.

Here's a vid that means a lot to me.

Quandria, I think we do need to keep changing and tweaking as we go to keep our bodies guessing! And to keep us from getting bored and stressed with this WOE.

For my tweak-of-the-week, I'm opting for a "mind game." I'm lowering my calorie goals for each day, knowing that if I screw up, I'm still doing OK. If I'm REALLY on track, I'll have a small calorie "reserve" to blow on Saturday (a moderate day) or Sunday, my usual UD. It's crazy I know, but for some reason it's perking me up and so far so good!

Hi Mel, it was 11 degrees Celsius today. The East Coast (Nova Scotia) got a big dumping over the weekend. It looks like it will keep getting warmer where I am! i can't wait!

UD for me today and I did well. I find that I have to consciously think about it to make sure I get enough calories in on my UD's. If I left it to natural hunger, I would eat less and not get enough calories. I got the Jillian Michael's dvd (two of them) and my muscles are killing me! I will run tomorrow. I have been VERY consistent with exercise the past 3 weeks. I have exercised 6 out of 7 days each week and I feel great. It's habit now and I just do it. I also read that doing 210 hours per week will decrease ones risk of breast cancer. That's all i needed to read!

Hi to e/e. I am off to read my book. More tomorrow!
