I haven't been posting as much as I used to on all of the threads I follow because I have just been feeling like I don't want to drag the group down with my lack of scale losses and constant frustration and sadness over this.

And I don't know why I can't get it through my stubborn head that losing sizes IS progress, although it is slow to see, and that the scale is #$@)#$(@# for me right now.
Losing sizes is just as important as scale weight. During my weight loss I had one or the other but never both. I was either seeing a loss on the scale or seeing no change at the scale but my pants were falling off. I think it takes time for the body to adjust to loss and when it does your size decreases. Hang in there. Remember, losing weight is easy but sticking out the rough spots is what makes you successful. I know when I feel down I avoid the boards but if I am active here I do so much better. Let everyone here help you, we are not here to judge.

Caramel I hope the above gives you an idea how happy I am for you! Your posts and your success and your dedication to JUDDD are an inspiration to all Tweakers--and that that includes our new ones as well as all us old timers. to one and all!

And when wallaby and kisha, SS and EmandM and all the others chime in, it is obvious JUDDD and Tweaking are a great combination.

 Yesterday was not the DD I had expected it to be--more of a moderate day because of a change in plans so this is a DD for me. I have had nothing so far but morning coffee and lots of water and have been so busy I didnt even think about food or feeling hungry.. Am about to meet some friends for dinner. A salad will do me just fine. I did gain .6 of a pound while our kids were here but expect it to be gone when I get up tomorrow (unless I screw up tonight- )

Thanks guys... I am doing a Fat Fast today.

EmandM, OWL is the Atkins "on-going weight loss" phase. It's where you add 5 grams of carbs per day each week until you stop losing, then cut back until you are losing again. Since I suspect I have some metabolic issues going on and haven't lost, I thought I would try upping carbs to 30 or so... I read from multiple sources including lowcarbdietician who used to work for Atkins Nutritionals that those with thyroid issues tend to do better on about 30-40 carbs than Induction levels. I was doing very low carb before that. I wasn't losing, but I felt good and my appetite was in check.

Howdy! Today is my first UP day and I didn't feel excessively hungry this morning. I'm not going to end up eating any more today than I normally would. I'm having about 2250 calories today(my plan calls for 2505) and a little over 30 carbs. Do you guys eat less fat doing this plan or still high fat as you would with a LC diet?

Mike- to me the fat question always depends on the carb answer. So, if carbs are higher, I go lower fat and vice-versa.

Caramel- I am so inspired by you. When did you start JUDDD, and what have you lost?

Mariposa- I hope you figure it all out and can get to where you are losing on a steady basis!! Do you count calories? Not sure your age, but I know for me it is absolutely crucial and I must be below 1200 to lose. I know the hard core atkins folks on these boards would disagree, but I do think they matter.

Snaggle, I am 31 and yes I have counted both carbs and calories... I have tried eating to BMR, weight watchers points, etc.

Hi tweakers and welcome to all the new tweakers! So glad you're joining us.

Gorgeous here today and I got in a 5 mile jog. I'm doing fast 5 on UD's for a trial so I jogged in a pretty fasted state but had plenty of energy and felt good. It's UD for me so I'm getting ready to eat a high fat meal and peanut butter with whipped cream for dessert - the joys of UD.

I'm maintaining well in my 108-112 range (110 today) and tweaking up my DD's, and making a few other changes to give me the most freedom possible for summer BBQ's, parties, and socializing. Trying for >75 % fat, 15-20%protein, and <5% carbs and it's working for blood glucose control - just hoping it doesn't throw my weight maintenance off - so far so good, Considering one 2 day fast a month for renewnal and to keep SIRT 1 levels up as I increase cals on DD. What can I say - I'm a complete tweaker!

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Has that changed? Another thing you may want to think about it seeing your weight as a range. i used to focus on being 114 pounds, and that was my goal. But now my range is 114-118 and I have been 116 for weeks now and I used to fluctuate a lot (be 114 by Friday and after crazy weekend UD's I would be 118)! lol So maybe your 6 pound gain is ok since you eventually lose it, kwim? Could be water from higher UD's.
Hello Emandm, I am loving JUDDD! I really think I have figured out my whole weight gain issues and what it means for me and my body. This WOE, and processing with you ladies, has truly given me some mental freedom when it comes to the scale.

Like you said our weight really is a range and that is because of the glycogen/water storage. I have learned that my lowest weight is not my true weight, that is my body while manipulating these stores. For me my true weight is my lowest + 6 pounds. So that is my range. If I were to go above my range than I would be concerned that it was FAT and not glycogen/water. When I am at the top of my range than I know I need to be more vigilant. How often do you weigh?

I could not understand why others did not have these vast weight swings but I am pretty sure it is because they are doing VLC and therefore keeping their glycogen/water stores depleted all the time or that they are eating more on DD thus not depleting them totally. For me they are constantly depleting on DD and replenishing on UD.

Now that I am trying to eat more on DD the fluctuations have been much smaller. Eating more on DD has been hard, I want to eat all the time. I need a more strict plan or to eat only one big meal. It is still a work in progress

Thanks for asking about me , sorry for the long winded reply, I am just so excited to have figured this all out.

HI all, I will be gone for several weeks helping out a friend with some stuff while she is having surgery and recovering so my dear Michigan friend wallaby has agreed to start the new thread when the end of April rolls around. (She is the designated Mother Hen now )

I hope to get here now and then but it probably wont be very often. Meantime, I hope all the new Tweakers continue to enjoy our little home in cyber-space. (And someone please keep an eye on Dasiey--we just never know what she will be up to next, although when she becomes a Grandma, she will HAVE to stop running around with the Trapeze Artist--that is not at all a dignified friendship for a grandmother to have. )

PS--thanks for the vote of confidence, Dasiey--yes as a matter of fact, I did do gr8 today and the kitchen is now closed.

Hi, I started this woe on 12/9/08 which would be around 18 weeks and have a loss of 24 pounds. This plan just has that motivational factor of "I can always eat tomorrow, that has kept me here. I now don't feel at all deprived and you guys and gals who are just starting I would say around 2 to 3 weeks into this plan you have made it through the hardest part mentally, and that is what in my humble opinion usually leads to weight gain, a lot of it is we think were hungry but mostly it is emotinal eating. This plan has taught me that I not going to die if I'm a little hungry now and again and now I just listen to my body a bit more and control what I eat instead of letting food control me.

PLEASE forgive my ditziness if I repeat myself or leave out a word or name! Work is very busy lately and I find I'm having a hard time with posts here. I start them then lose them, then write them over, and then worry that I already posted on the same thing!

This is exactly how I feel! I still can't get over it.

Dointhis4me!

Pushing40 - I have found that - for me - calculating calories BEFORE I eat them makes all the difference in the world. I plan out the food I know I'm going to eat, and I load it into ****** in the morning ( so it's "locked and loaded" as Kisha says). that way I have a sense of what my "baseline" for the day is going to be. Then I know if I can fit in a treat or two (or three!). If I don't plan out ahead of time, my UDs are out of control. But I'm not opposed to having an occasional out of control day either....

Shunsweets - you are too much. I cannot wait to be where you are. Have you always exercised so diligently?

Maizen - you're not getting off the JUDDD hook even if you have to be away. We expect SOME sort of updates on how you're doing.

Good Morning Tweakers!!

Sally - You will be missed!

I am so ready to hit 122, but it hasn't happened yet. I think I need to get a little more control on my UD's, but I had a great one yesterday.

Shunsweets - I PB and whipped cream and always have that on my UP's. mmmmm!

Anyway, DD for me today and pretty excited about it! I always feel great on DD's. I am not going to eat till dinner and having an egg cream. Also, 1 hour on the treadmill today.

Have a great day!!

It's a DD for me too and I'm going to try to hit the treadmill too (thanks for the prompt! - I have to stop putting it off.)

My UD yesterday was pretty good. I think Monday's fast really helped me get a handle on the week. I also think I was able to make it through that fast because I didn't overeat or have a really big UD on Sunday. It's much harder for me to do a good DD after a day of feasting.

It makes perfect sense to me! It has taught me so many things about hunger, and it has been VERY freeing! I know I am not going to die if I miss a meal. I could not stand to be hungry before.
