Good luck traveling, Kisha! That's always a problem for me. I'll be away this weekend, but just Saturday and Sunday, and since both days involve 3-hour flights, I should be able to stay on plan (especially since neither is usually a DD for me).

But NEXT MONTH, I'm going to New Orleans for 5 days, and that's such an eating city--with such delicious food! But I don't want to undo my progess, and I plan to eat carefully, even if I can't manage a DD.

Safe traveling blessings to Kisha and Leo! Sassy, hope you do well with this woe. So far, I really like it. The first couple of DD's are hard. I save most of my calories for the evening. But we're all different. It helps me to have the food I'm going to eat on my UD in the fridge - kind of like a security blanket. I hope you do well.

To follow up on Redeemed's good advice, Sassy, it really helped me during the first DDs to remind myself, "I can eat that tomorrow." I used to find that such declarative, mental statements actually kept hunger at bay. And a nice, hot cup of tea usually helped, too.

Although unlike Redeemed, I like to eat early (breakfast with my coffee), I always saved something for the evening (otherwise I got too anxious). However, after doing this for several months, I've found that I can eat in the morning and stay off food for the rest of the day when I want to. But in the beginning, I didn't even think I could manage a 400 cal day. It's amazing how this plan helped me gain control of my eating. I hope you find it just as beneficial.

I know exactly what you mean! Next month, I am going to california for 5 days to visit family. I will only have 2 DD's while I am there and the first one will be on a day we are going to an amusement park which I think works out well because I hate eating at those places because the food is too expensive so I am sure I can stay on plan..the other DD, I figure I will be okay as long as we stay busy. I would hate to go on vacation and blow it you know? In the past, I've always come back from vacation and gained 5 pounds. I definitely don't want that happening.

Anyways, good luck Kisha! I know you can stay on plan! And Leo it sounds like you have a little time to work something out before you go to New Orleans. I am sure you will stay on plan also!

Kisha- sounds like you have everything planned. you will do great!

Yesterdays WF was so easy! I took your advices and used "you can eat tomm". For my UD today i'm not counting calories. I tried doing it before and entered everything into ****** ,but my calories were not 2,400. I then tried to see what else i could eat to raise the calories and i was not even hungry!

How often to you guys weigh yourself? I used to weigh myself daily.

I USUALLY weigh the morning after every DD however if I'm feeling bloated AT ALL I DO NOT get on the scale. I like to weigh myself when I'm feeling *light* if that makes any sense.

WTG on your WF DD!

I've got a bad habit of weighing daily..but for some reason I weigh less after UD than I do after DD's. I'm still trying to figure that one out. Overall though when I track my actual weigh in ******, I just use the number I get on Tuesday mornings.

Well, muffaletta might be more low carb -- all those horribly processed sandwich meats (yum)

I know -- Leo is totally going to the Land of Temptation!

'Course, most folks might think of New Orleans "temptation" as debauched drunken revelry on Bourbon Street (B Street is really not my thing, especially after watching them hose the vomit off the sidewalks one early morning ), but for this Foodie, Battered Southern Fried anything and everything is the Devil's siren call.

Yes I agree.. I have absolutely every intention of going to In-N-Out next month when I am in California but of course I am gonna get the burger without the bun..and as much as I loved those animal fries, there's no way I would get them. Thank goodness the day I am flying in is an UD, because In-N-Out is probably one of my most favorite places and we're going there first thing after getting off the plane!

In-N-Out... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Just order your burger "protein style" and it come wrapped in lettuce no bun. Last time I tasted an animal style frye I swear it was NOT GOOD so don't regret not having them.

AUGGH!! I would be eating pizza every day if that was the case! My other half is from Poughkeepsie so we go out there once a year..once a year with real NY pizza won't kill my diet..but I don't know if I could handle being there every weekend.

oooh, I know Poughkeepsie -- I'm in way north Westchester County, so Poughkeepsie is about 45 minutes from me.

Re: Manhattan. Yeah, you should see the lengths I go to to run that food gauntlet every weekend.

I carry the following with me in my backpack: (Here is where I truly reveal to the boards how crazy/compulsive I am )

Shirataki noodles (in case we wind up for lunch at a "saucy" place like Indian or Chinese and I don't want the rice or noodles)

Salad dressing (my own very low cal/carb)

Almond milk (for when I stop for hot tea to take my mid-day supplements [see how I slipped the vitamin topic in here for you, Kerri ] and don't want carby milk with my tea)

Splenda Quick Pack (again, for my tea. Yes, cafes usually have the packets, but I don't even want those few carbs if I can help it )

"Retroworx's Lowly Brownies" (extreme low cal/carb baked good that I can use to divert me from the real stuff if necessary. These are made from every Frankenfood/specialty item under the sun, so don't ask. )

I'm on foot all day long in the city with all this junk on my back. It's unknown whether I will someday be at a happy weight from lugging all this around, but what is CERTAIN is that I'll need a chiropractor.

Retro,

If you only knew how foreign and humorous you seem to me. I'm an old-fashioned mom-type nurse from a little country town of 152 people in Minnesota. I work nights and drive the back country roads to work. You crack me up. I think your posts are delightful!

Yet another 'discovery'--
Kisha has posted here and on the main board about how she has had to "change things up" sometimes in order to lose, and this may be true of me as well.

I started JUDDD in late Dec., and always used MWF as DD, trying to keep Sunday as a "moderate" day. I've struggled with that, and often wound up with two UDs--Sat and Sunday. But the past two weeks, my Sundays have gone beyond UDs--I've been eating almost twice the calories that I do on a normal UD. And both times, I've had a significant loss after--2 lbs during the following week when I was averaging a half pound to a pound per week.

I don't take this as carte blanche to overeat on Sundays, but perhaps after about 10 weeks of seriously restricting my calories, those two days were the "change up" that my body needed.

I pass this along to anyone who may feel stalled and depressed because he/she has been faithful to a plan. It may be that your body will respond well to a brief "change."
I have experienced this. so about ever to weeks I pig out
ever other sunday. it is always ud.

Hi JUDDers! I haven't been on in a while so I just wanted to say hi.

I've officially been doing JUDD for 1 month and I've lost 7 pounds. Before that, I had been at the same weight for about 4 months - so needless to say, I'm very happy with my JUDD results so far!

Thank you, Redeemed. It's nice to know I'm not just yacking to my high-falootin' (sp?) Eastern NY Privileged Liberal self.

Actually, it is this exposure I get to all kinds of people/sentiments/politics/outlooks on these boards that keeps me hooked. Gets me out of my comfort zone sometimes and gives me a quick slap in the face when I forget that there are plenty of folks out there who don't share my experiences, life views, etc. Isn't it a marvel how foreign we can all seem to each other? It's quite a big and varied country we've got here. . . .

P.S. Nice to see you around, even if no longer on your own thread

Hey Retro and Kerri We lived in Poughkeepsie for 4 years when my children were young. Beautiful there on the Hudson River. My nephew went to Marist for college so we really got to know the area. What a small world.

I'm still maintaining well with JUDDD plus low carb. Hope all the JUDDDer's are doing well.
