Yes, Vanilla, I definitely agree with Kisha about low carb and JUDDD. It might be OK for others who can handle carbs, but if I didn't low carb, I doubt that I could do DDs at all (my appetite is that enormous with carbs).
I've learned from these DDs that my hunger is so often purely mental. For example, last night at about 8 pm, I decided that I was hungry, but I'd finished my 400 cals, so I told myself that eating would have to wait for the morning. And I had no trouble for the rest of the evening--once the thought of eating was out of my mind, my "hunger" vanished. |

Hi everyone!
Welcome Vanilla Latte, I am new to this too but I really like it. Sounds like I need to get some Almond Breeze and Coconut milk, yum! It has been a bit hard to stick to this WOE with the prednisone. I am not hungry but afraid to eat because I do not want to gain with the meds. The steroid has actually made me not want to eat at all which is weird. However today I feel so emotional, I will be glad when I am finished with it. I have 2 more days. I have really had moderately low days since Sat. I just look forward to stopping the meds and getting on with things!

Forgot to mention I was aiming for 500 cals under 10 carbs.
Actuals will probably be more like 540 cals I had almond breeze/coffee, 2 Atkins shakes and one protein bar (sugar alcohol free ).I'm not hungry but I wasn't yesterday either... I think I can thank my allergies for that. Exercise - Lunchtime: 1 mile treadmill, 1 mile bike, 1 mile elliptical; stretching Afternoond: 15 min brisk walk outside Evening: I plan to do Power 90 Sweat level 1/2 but I am not sure yet... allergies are killing me! MAYBE!?!?
![]() I may have broken my stall???? I was fluctuating between 289-291, this morning I was 287.6 I will most likely bump back up today just from the weight of food but that's a dip I haven't seen in a while. Hope it sticks, at least part of it. I really hope this works for me. |

Good morning everyone! DD for me today. I've had my small bowl of oatmeal. It seems to hold me through the day until I get home.
Those who are having a DD today hang in there! Later! |

I will not be weighing tomorrow. I am going to still only weigh once a week, probably after a down day to be consistent. I know about the bounce up with food and water because of my experience with the fat fast. Uh oh, I just realized something, I don't think I drank enough fluids yesterday, which may have contributed to the low weight. Stupid allergies have me pretty messed up. At least they are killing my appetite for the most part.

So... questions for you all. Do most of you stay at the DD "induction" level of 500 cals, or do you go to your calculated low?
Sounds like some of you do two UD or 2 "moderate" days on the weekend? Weds might always be UD for me because I take two classes @ the gym that day... Aqua at lunch and strength training in the evening. I normally work out twice a day but this is more intense and longer than usual. So, I am trying to figure out how to make that work since if I do things properly, every other weds would be DD. Maybe I can make Weds always MODERATE? Like 1400 cals or so? Thoughts???? |

mine came out to something like 700-800 I think?I like to do things "by the book" to give a program a real chance before doing tweaks. So ya, maybe next week I will try doing a DD and the exercise and see how I feel, and if I can't do it or feel weird during the evening class, I will stop and not beat myself up over it. |

Maryposa-
Congratulations on your DD and the loss. I know it's a breakthrough for you because that's what most of us have experienced with JUDDD. I agree with Kisha about the water--if you drink too little, it would ADD to your weight because your body would retain fluids, so don't question that dip! About your schedule. I do M, W, F as DDs because I work out only on Tues., Thurs., and Sun. (swimming). I was always afraid to try to exercise on DDs, but many people do. My understanding (and I may be wrong) is that you can subtract your exercise from the allotted DD calories--if you really are sure how many calories you're burning. So if you worked out yesterday, your calories may not be as high as you think. I try to keep to 400 cal or less on my DDs, but I've managed that "less" only once or twice! But I've also kept to 400 regularly. I also try to make one of my weekend days more moderate, but I haven't been too successful with that--they usually both wind up as UDs. That hasn't hurt much from my results. You're right about being more hungry on your DD because you ate only 1200 calories the day before--I've observed that happening to me at times. I'd also suggest that you make sure to have enough protein on your UD; that will also help quell the hunger the following day. |

Kisha-
I noticed on the other thread that you're frustrated by going over calories on your UD, so I thought I'd share what works for me. First, I actually pay as much (or more) attention to what I eat on my UD (that is, I plan my eating for the entire day in advance and count the calories rather than just eat to satisfaction--because my body doesn't register 'satisfaction' with food:-). I try to keep to 1200-1400 calories, and have been mostly successful with that. When I'm tempted to indulge on an UD, I just remind myself that I don't want to 'ruin' the accomplishment of my DD (because I think of them as a pair, since my focus is the average calories of the two days). This seems to work much like my DD self talk about being able to eat 'tomorrow' keeps hunger at bay. Ironically, twice (in 3 months) I indulged on Sundays and ate about 2500 calories, yet perhaps because I've otherwise kept the calories so low, both times my body responded with loss (that may have worked as a 'change' for the body). Next week, I'm headed to New Orleans and 4 UDs in a row for the first time, and although I'm going to try to watch my eating, I'm sure that I'll have a gain when I return. I've been encouraged by your success in dropping those pounds quickly by getting right back to plan. I hope it works for me, too. |

another question... what are the percentages on the DD calculator on the site? Should I chose 20, 25 or 30? And why / what do they mean? Thanks!
Never mind, I re-read the instructions and it says 20% for phase 2. |

OK, I underestimated my exercise from what I think it should be because it mentions on the site that most people overestimate. That information combined with the likelyhood that my metabolism is probably pretty screwed up, I picked the lower of my guesses.
According to this, my DD should be 641 (after my two week induction) and my UD should be 3205!!!! ![]() That scares me. |

Holy cow, you gals are smokin'! I can see I need to get in here earlier in the day to keep caught up!
![]() Hi homestretch, nice to meet you. ![]() Maryposa, congrats on the weight loss! I had the Almond Breeze in my coffee this morning. For me, it tasted like nothing at all was in there. So, I'm skipping this afternoon's java time and will wait for tomorrow for my cream . But, some of the milk with some sf DaVinci sounds like a good idea.Okay, I'm well into my first DD and it's gone great. Better than the first time I did JUDDD! For breakfast, I fixed a huge pumpkin protein shake and saved half for lunch. I use Designer Whey 100 calorie French Vanilla (3 carbs), Almond Breeze, ricotta cheese, pumpkin, eggs and a couple spices. I will have that for dinner as well only using half of everything. Well, maybe go ahead and use 2 eggs. Then for a snack I'm going to have one of those little Dannon low carb/low sugar yogurts with a couple squirts of Land O'Lakes sf whipped cream. Here is what everything comes to for today (a la ***********): Calories: 632 Fat: 36 g Protein: 52 g Net Carbs: 15 I'm aiming for 30% right for my DD's, so that falls within my limits. I knew doing lc with JUDDD would make it a little tougher to keep the calorites down, but once I get a pretty set menu I can tweak it down closer to the recommended 500 or less. This will be the first day in a looong time the ol' bod has had that few calories, so we'll see what happens! Now to go back and catch up on posts!
