Had a great weekend and ended up with two moderate calorie days. I was at 1300 yesterday and 1000 today. I am not sure if I can do a DD on the weekend or not. Tomorrow I have to be in the city all day and it is a DD so I have not quite figured out how I will handle it. I may just do one small meal while I am out for lunch and then Atkins shakes the other two meals. I am on antibiotics and prednisone right now for a rash and sinus infection so until I am off of the meds I am not expecting weight loss. I am just hoping that being careful with my food will keep me from gaining with the prednisone.

Good morning everyone!!
Homestretch - No fun being on antibiotics and prednisone and having a rash and sinus infection. Hope you feel better very soon! ![]() It's a DD (M-W-F) for me today. I am doing a protein/liquid fast all day and then having a low cal, low carb dinner tonight. Just thought I'd share with you all .... went to whole foods yesterday for a couple of things (including shirataki noodles) and found in the dairy/milk section unsweetened coconut milk in the half size cartons. The brand is So Delicious and it is only 50 caloires and 1 carb for 1 cup. I just added a bit of stevia to sweeten and it was quite delicious. Might be worth a try if you like coconut milk. Here's what it looks like. Just click on 'unsweetened' on the right of the page to get the nutritional info. Today is a DD for me, too, as I have been keeping MWF DDs since I started.
With my morning coffee, I had an Ostrim stick (80 cal, 14 g protein), and I plan to have two protein shakes the rest of the day. Yesterday was an UD++, as I stopped counting calories after a while! But I kept to low carb, so I hope there wasn't too much damage. Actually, when I eat a lot like this every two weeks or so (no less), it seems to help--perhaps because it's such a change for my body. I hope it works this time, too, although I want to try to have these high calorie days no less than once a month. |

Mornin' everybody! DD for me also. I bought some of my favorite vegetables (beets, spinach, carrots, tomatos, red pepper, onion, garlic and pureed them. Then added water and beef bullion - cooked for a soup to sip during the day. Looking forward to the pizza and carrot cake I have in the freezer for tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great week.

I had a two UD weekend also this weekend! Got down to a new low low of 194 on the scale Saturday morning... so I'm right on track with my weekly weight loss goals before my next vacation.
Saturday was normal UD probably around 2300 calories... Attempted DD on Sunday turned in 1600 calorie UD. I know from past experience though that as long as I get right back on track with solid DD UD rotation starting today my weight loss will continue. Bounce up in weight this morning but thats to be expected... especially since yesterday was VERY VERY CARBY for me. I'm going for a liquid fast today. I'll only be home for about an hour after work. THANK GOD! The success of my DD seems to be in direct correllation to the amount of time I spend at home. I was home lazing around ALL DAY yesterday... thus the switch from DD to UD. Well, onward and DOWNWARD (in weight at least) |

I think a fat fast would be possible on DD... though you will not be taking in much food. Its pretty fast to get to 500 cals of fat! I think your close to ZC tweak will probably work well with JUDD. Please keep us posted! When are you going to try your first DD? I know you'll be able to do it - experienced Fat Faster that you are. |

Kisha-
I envy you being out of the house! Now that I'm retired (and I'm NOT complaining:-), I'm home most days, and it was a lot easier to eat less when I was busy at work all day! That's another reason JUDDD works so well for me--my DDs eliminate the temptation to 'nibble' all day that can be a problem with me (it's so easy to rationalize that it's just a little bit). |

On the other hand, if they are trying to market this a milk alternative, they've probably tried to leach all the yummy coconut flavor from it. What say you, Clannad? ![]() |

It does have a coconut flavor! It is not as strong as what you get in the can, but you can definitely tell it is coconut milk. I'd say it has enough flavor to make an asian sauce of some sort or pudding. Great idea btw!
Maybe I'll try to throw something together tonight if I have enough energy and am feeling creative enough. I'm doing some house cleaning and furniture rearranging, so I've got stuff everywhere. I always make more of a mess than what was originally there in the beginning. If you walked in, you'd never suspect I was actually cleaning, lol. ![]() |

Hello everyone,
![]() I have been a lurking awhile on this forum but just spent awhile looking in on this thread. I would love to join you - you all seem so supportive and okay with accepting that there are different ways for us to achieve our goal. I have been struggling to lose weight (50+ lbs.) for over half my life! I am in the throes of menopause and turned to low carbing a few months ago as I read where that may help. While I love eating low carb, I have lost zilch weight. I feel much better, though, and when I indulge in a few too many carbs (which has not been often), I know that lc is the way to go.I also tried JUDDD a couple of years ago not long after it came out. I loved it and did manage to lose about 15 lbs. Then, it just quit working for me. So, I began to look into carb cycling, which led me to order Jay Robb's book (waiting on it to arrive), which led me to think about JUDDD again but on the lc side of things. I had seen on another board where some were mixing the two and thought I'd see if anyone here was doing it - and here you are! I thought that maybe, just maybe, me doing the same might get me the results I am so desperately seeking. So, here I am. I am going to look into doing the 30% loss mainly because I am planning on doing the egg creams for my down days along with a salad. I lurve egg creams. Love anything with cream. C-r-e-a-m. Yumm-o. But, I digress. I know I'll need to work at them to get the cals down while keeping the fat content a little high as that really keeps me satisfied. When I did JUDDD before, it was all about lowfat, blah, blah and although I got used to the DD's quickly, I think having some fat and protein will keep me better satisfied. I love seeing your menus since doing JUDDD/LC will be different for me this time around. I just want to see results!! So, I look forward to sharing the journey with you.

Hi Vanilla Late,
Welcome! Glad you found us. I personally do combine low carb with JUDD. I stay under 50 grams of carbs on my updays. On down days some of my staples are: Coffee with whole milk or half and half Pure Protein low carb shakes from Trader Joe's (110 cals 4 carbs) Eggs Trader joe's turkey meatballs green beans frozen broccoli raw vegetables and trader joe's spicy hummus deli turkey rolls ups salad with trader joe's bbq chicken terryaki (i use just the meat not the sauce that comes with it) just ceasar chicken (pre cooked parmesan chicken from trader joe's) |

Welcome Vanilla Latte-
I came to JUDDD for a similar reason--low carbing wasn't enough any more. I'm post-menopause and also hypothyroid, and while I've lost about 100 lbs over the past few years just low carbing (and watching calories), I hit a wall last year, losing and gaining the same 10 lbs over and over. JUDDD has broken that wall, and I've begun losing again. I stay with low carb because it's the healthiest WOE for me, and I agree that more fat will help you with JUDDD this time. I began with shakes on my DDs (as advised), but now I combine them with egg white "omelets" and some fish or meat, but I try to stay at 400 cal or below. You're an experienced JUDDDer, so you should bring us a lot of good ideas! |

Good morning Juddders! Hope your DDs were successful.
I ended up in the low 400s for calories. I had .. decaf coffee with SO Delicious coconut milk and a bit of inulin (fiber) Double Thick Chocolate Shake (protein and fiber) Klondike Slim-a-Bear Chocolate Fudge Bar (100 cal) ... bad me! Vegetarian Curry with one shirataki vanilla_latte - Hello and welcome! ![]() retroworx - I hope you like the coconut milk if you decide to get it. I tried to make a low cal cococnut curry type sauce last night, but I used some frozen veggies and it got too watery (wasn't thinking ). Plus I missed having peanut butter in there. I may order some of that pb powder from netrition. |

Yesterday was supposed to be my up day but I was first not hungry, then finally ate around 3:30pm, then was tired and only had a snack type thing for dinner then went to bed. My calories were around 1200 or maybe under.
Now today is my DD and I hope I can make it... |

The PB2 powder from Netrition makes great Asian sauces as well as a fair substitute for real peanut butter if you can tolerate some compromise for half the calories. Know what's great together -- peanut butter AND coconut. (Oops, no one on a DD should be reading this. I'll refrain. . . .) |

Succesful Liquid Fast DD Yesterday
I did it!
Succesful liquid fast yesterday. I had some whole milk and also a pure protein canned shake from Trader Joe's: Yesterday was supposed to be my up day but I was first not hungry, then finally ate around 3:30pm, then was tired and only had a snack type thing for dinner then went to bed. My calories were around 1200 or maybe under. Thanks! I think today would be easier if I had eaten a good dinner last night or at least had something of an appetite yesterday. Oh well! Sipping my sugar free almond breeze/instant coffee/SF vanilla syrup concoction... pretty good for only 40 cals! Compared to the 1/4 cup of HWC in my coffee that I NORMALLY have for b-fast

Kisha-
Great job on a liquid DD! I know you've been striving for that. What's odd is that I began with shakes (with just fried egg white with my morning coffee), but I have NEVER been able to do all liquids. It's like my mouth wants something to crunch. I've been moving more and more away from my whey shakes even though I know I get good protein from them. Somehow the liquid doesn't seem satisfying on DDs any more--but this, of course, is probably all in my head:-) At least I'm staying at 400 cal. |

Good afternoon, everyone! Thank you all for the warm welcome.
Kisha and Leo, thanks for the tips on what you eat. I also kept mental notes being that I read this entire thread before I joined! When I first began JUDDD, my DD's were M-W-F with the rest being UD's. I always tried to keep Sunday's as a MD, but sometimes it would go either way! I'm going to keep that same schedule as it worked out well for me. I'm going to try to do a Kisha tomorrow (my first official DD) and do all shakes. Exercise will not begin again until next week as this week is taken with activities after work. I never had a problem exercising on either DD's or UD's. Maryposa, I'm going to have to try the Almond Breeze/coffee/sf syrup concoction, especially on my DD's where my beloved cream is mostly off limits. I'm off to calculate my shakes tomorrow. One thing I'm hoping for with combining JUDDD/LC is that maybe it'll be a tad easier on DD's since lc eating helps quite a bit more with hunger issues than when I was eating carbage before. We shall see! Thanks again for the welcome and have a great evening! |

I have found that Low Carb GREATLY helps with the hunger. I know Leo and some others would agree. In fact there are many DD where I'm never actually HUNGRY FOR REAL per se... but I definately get that "mouth hunger wanna eat" thing. Last night I drank one cup of whole regular milk with some drops of liquid sweetener and a pump of chocolate davincis. nom nom nom. |
