Kisha--
Congratulations on getting rid of that "convention weight." Your dedication is inspiring. Don't you agree that this is another triumph of JUDDD? That is, when I was just low carbing, I'd go on a week-long cruise and return about 7 lbs heavier (and that was with watching my eating!). But it would take me about a month (or more) to lose that weight. It was always so frustrating. Now it seems to me that when we get right back to our DDs, our weight stabilizes much more quickly--or I could just be imagining this because I think JUDDD is so great:-) |

I just LUVV this WOE. Seriously. I feel myself making progress again and it is amazing. Also I don't know why but lately EVERYONE has been telling me how great I look... I've officially really only lost about 14 LBS since starting JUDD around New Years... but the inches have been melting off. 3 inches lost off my waist! Down from 35 inches to 32 in just about three months! |

but I must say, I feel good on ZC, that is why I was thinking of sticking with it. We'll see! I also love the simplicity... when I LC I try all these things, and just seem to do better with simple eating. |

well, I came in a 29%, which is under 30%, so i'm pretty happy today. I saved all my calories for dinner and had:
Dinner: 6 oz baked bbq chicken breast, 10 OreIDa crispers, a BIG romaine salad Snack: 2 c popcorn I'm hungry of course, lol, but it was nice to have the popcorn with the movie. Never thought of popcorn before today. Totally going to go with that in the future |

I've been weighing "officially" on Saturday mornings (although I 'peek' during the week which I'm trying to resist). This morning, I'm down 2 lbs this week, which is a "whoosh" for me, since my total for the month is just about 6 lbs. Seeing those numbers go down is a great inspiration!
It's good to keep a chart because I have weeks where the scale doesn't seem to move, and then there's a big jump like today. Knowing this pattern keeps me from getting discouraged when there's no movement on the scale. I have a long way to go, but JUDDD and low carb seems to be the way! |

Happy weekend everyone!
Leo - Congrats on the 2 lbs. lost!! ![]() mammapo - I just rediscovered popcorn too. I eat it on UDs, because I put on a bit of water weight when I eat it. DDs are getting easier and I feel much more satisfied than when I first started Juddd. And I am not as anxious as I was to do DDs. Yesterday was a DD and my calories were a bit under 500, and it seemed that I didn't have to put as much effort into it than usual to stay that low. I think it was because I had my favorite DD foods available, so I didn't have to think as much. ![]() Forgot to add that I'm down 1/2 lb. today. Last edited by Clannad; 03-28-2009 at 06:29 AM.. |

Clannad-
I think that's a key to DDs--i.e., having the right food available. I know that I do much more planning for my DDs than UDs in order to get the most for the least calories. Two discoveries this week. 1) Radishes. I don't like them, but I've read on the main board about making them as "fried potatoes." You boil them for a few minutes first, and that gets out the 'radish' taste (if you like radishes, you might want to skip this part). Then they can be sliced or chopped and fried with onions. I did that on an UD, and they were great. But I had a bowl of boiled radishes in the fridge yesterday on my DD when I got hungry. I heated about 5 in the microwave (you can eat them cold, too) and sprinkled some salt and pepper on them. They were great for some mouth action with virtually no calories (probably about 5 cal total). 2. I had bought several heads of organic Romaine lettuce. Perhaps because on low carb we become more sensitive to the good taste of simple food, I chomped on an entire (small) head with no dressing at all--and it was delicious--for perhaps 50 calories and very satisfying. The basis of my DDs is protein--e.g., egg whites, sardines, tuna--but sometimes I need something filling and very low cal, and these worked well this week. |

LEO congrats on the loss!
![]() Dropping in to say that I enjoyed my UD yesterday! I think I could really love eating like this. Yesterday I had oatmeal and a banana for breakfast which came in at 260 calories. Then I had to be in St. Louis for doctor appt.s and of course they ran over and I did not get to eat lunch until 3. Normally I would have been stressed because I was not eating enough meals/snacks etc. but I didn't care. My DD and I went to Red Robin and I had the lettuce wrapped burger with a salad and some hot wings. I estimate the meal was 1000 calories. Then I had some dark chocolate and 1/2 of a crab rangoon in the evening. I think my day came in at 1500-1600 calories. The best part was that I did not stress about it! Today is my DD and I am more than happy to eat less because I still feel satisfied from yesterday. I am a happy woman!!!!! ![]()

Wow this thread is moving fast!
![]() I just wanted to share something here... I decided I will try JUDDD, with the DD being something like a fat fast, and UP being very very low carb, close to zero. Not sure if I can do my current level of exercise on a DD but I am going to try. In the past 8 weeks on ZC/VLC combined with massive amounts of exercise Lbs lost: BIG FAT ZERO Upper Arm: +0.5 " "Natural" Waist: -2.5" Waist: -1.5" Hips: -1.5" Bust: -1.0" Thighs: -1.5" Last edited by Maryposa; 03-28-2009 at 01:13 PM.. |

I also wanted to share my motivations... this is not so much about looking good for me, though that will be a nice extra.
1. my husband and I are going to try to have a baby next year and I want to trim down as much as possible before then because I think it will make pregnancy (not to mention child care!) easier. 2. before that, we are going to his homeland, Kenya, East Africa... and I want to be able to go everywhere, do everything, see lions, elephants, zebras etc and not pass out from the heat or complain that my feet hurt too bad to climb the next hill.

How much do you exercise on DD? I currently work out at lunchtime at the gym, then come home and do a boot-camp style program, and also walk between 1 and 3 times outside for 15 mins briskly

Today was an UD and I wasn't all that hungry. I was able to eat more sensibly and it feels so good.
Leo - I just had boiled radishes for the first time tonight. Today was an up day, so I added a little butter, salt and parsley. They were so yum! These will be in my fridge from now on and as you've said, will be great on DDs as well. And I do the same with lettuce too. I love salads and raw veggies dipped in zero calorie dressing. For another DD staple, I am going to venture into the whole shirataki noodle thing. I am picking some up tomorrow. I tried them once and thought they were okay. I'd like to use them in Asian style dishes on DDs. Maybe I'll try to do a lo mein with them. homestretch - Glad you are liking this way of eating! Hope you DD went well. |

Hey guys, I've been reading but not posting. You all are doing so WELL! I've taken a long detour but hope to get back on track starting today. Got the JUDDD book and it IS motivating! So far today, had a cup of asparagus soup (thanks to one of you who made some asparagus and green bean soup - for the inspiration!) and a protein shake for breakfast (today is a DD), and then just finished a cup of chopped green beans with 1/2 c. tomatoes all steamed with bacon salt, basil and oregano and a little sweetener, plus a CARB advantage shake. Have started entering all this in ****** and am at 300 calories so far. Anyway, just wanted to check in with you all - congratulations Kisha on your 2-year sobriety anniversary (and your astounding weight loss! Way to go girl! God willing, I'll have 19 years sobriety this November myself. Thanks for the radish ideas; will definitely try that this week! Good luck everyone with a great JUDDD week!

Hi guys,
Great DD suggestions, we are loving soup on DD's because it really fills us up! I am down another pound this week so I am pleased. Going to start on a candida program but still JUDDD. I need to get my yeast issues under control and it should be easy to follow the candida diet and JUDDD at the same time. My birthday is on Wednesday so I am going to start on thursday so I can have a little cake |

Hi everyone!! Welcome new JUDD enthusiasts. UD for me today and I sure took full advantage of it - Klondike bar and all! I made another batch of home made chicken soup because my husband has the flu virus. I saw my good friend at the conference this weekend and she gave me such a compliment about looking nice; and clothes looking looser. She wants to do JUDD now. I love these threads because the support has been fantastic but have been wanting a friend "in person" to do JUDD with. Now I have her and I'm so happy. I told her the next time we go out to dinner and order a taco salad, we can have the whole thing - shell and all!! I'm so happy for all of you when I read of your great success with JUDD. Have a great week everyone - I soooo look forward to the wonderful testimonies you keep sharing.
God's peace.
