The great thing about JUDDD is that you're only 24 hours away from being On Plan.... with everything else, there's that !@#$% induction period or a mini-deplete or or or....

With JUDDD you simply make the next day a Down Day, and you're baaaaaaaaaaack!

Take me - yesterday was a scheduled down day that turned into an up day. I didn't fret it - it simply meant I had two UDs in a row (which is totally kosher, once a week), so I did a Down Day today. Not even technically 'off plan' Yipeee! What other plan can you have an ooops!moment and still be On Plan????

I've been on this WOE since January 1, so that's 6 full weeks, and I'm more into this WOE than I was when I started. Not my usual pattern, for darn shootin sure!

Please add me to the list. I weighed on Saturday mornign and for the first time in GOD KNOWS HOW MANY YEARS (more than a decade for sure) I saw a number lower than 200LBS: 199.5 LBS for me!

Lets just say I am THRILLED! I did UD on both Saturday and Sunday due to Sunday social obligations. I did NOT weigh this morning but am having good clean DD today and anticipate holding steady under 200 when I weigh in tomorrow a.m.

This makes two weeks in a row that I have lost almost 2 LBS! Miraculous for this girl. Thank GOD I found this WOE. I wish I could remember who it was that posted about it in the ML.

DD TOTALS for Yesteray

Yesterday was the toughest DD I've had for a long time. Probably because I did two true UD in a row over the weekend. Ugh. I made it though by the skin of my teeth. NOT as low as my DD have been lately but still right under my 20% limit:

Calories 419
Fat 25.3 225 53 %
Carbohydrate 12.1 48 11 %
Dietary Fiber 4.0
Protein 38.0 154 36 %
Alcohol 0.0 0 0 %

It was 4 Trader Joe's Turkey meatballs, 1 slice pepperjack cheese, two scrambled eggs and 1 fl oz of 1/2 and 1/2 in my americano.

Was holding steady at new low low this a.m. so I feel like I'm right back on track. DEFINATELY will do all in my power to avoid two UD in a row again. It got me off my groove!

Thanks for pointing me to this WOE! I definitely think you are right, 2less than 24 hours from a restart. With so many others, I'd fall off and have a hard time getting back on the wagon having to figure out where to start again. I like that a fresh start is just hours away.

((((HUGS))))

I was up a little too this morning. bummer.... i read somewhere here yesterday about how it could take up to 48 hours for the body to register the weight change, so I'm thinking my Sat/Sun UD caused it to go up a bit, no biggie... stay the course, we can do this.

I had a hard day yesterday too... I held strong too. I think 419 for the day is AWESOME! My aim is 25% which is just under 500 calories and I've been doing really well to stay within that range. 20% was in the 300 and that scared me.

Good luck this week.

Kisha-

It may not have been your two UDs but your body wanting to get back over 200! I find that when I'm losing regularly, all of a sudden I will feel very hungry--for no apparent reason. If I resist (as JUDDD helps me do), it will go away, but it feels like real hunger.

Yesterday that happened on my DD (I think because I've been losing steadily recently), and it helped to know that I've been fine in the past on 400 cal. That is, I knew it wasn't because I was eating too little, and it wasn't the food. That's the advantage of eating pretty much the same things on DDs. If I feel more hunger than usual, I know it's just my body complaining.

I read somewhere that your body will actually stimulate hunger pains in an effort to get the person to stop losing weight, especially if the person has gone below one of the body's "set points" (usually a weight that you've stayed at for some period of time in the past).

Oh, I get so excited when any of my LCFriends are on the brink of ONEderLand. Each one who crosses over builds my own faith that I too shall someday be teetering on the brink. ME!!!

I still remember vividly how it felt to melt from 230# to 180# (with WW) in 1970 (at 26, 5'10") when I first arrived in SoCal and was motivated to drop a few pounds. How I recall the first time I noticed my stride was longer, from that shift in weight. I hope someday to notice a change in stride again, as I revisit ONEderLand myself.

Meanwhile, I celebrate each LCFriend's return to a sane weight! Yay, YOU!

JUDDD theme song: To-MOR-row...I love you, To-MOR-row...

Yep, with JUDDD, anything at all is "only a day away" - and that is what makes the DDs tolerable, I gather. I'm still gathering data and looking at my caloric guidelines for JUDDD. Not yet working a JUDDD program. Computed my UD/DD calories at Johnson's site and I'm off to ****** to see how I can do this. Calculator shows me (5'10", 380#, 65yo, lethargic activity level) at 2798/560 for UD/DD calorie targets on a 20% Weight Loss Mode restriction. I'm off now to ****** to see how that menus out. I see the UD:2798cals is higher than my target for BMR:2423cals that I hardly ever hit without tremendous effort. Maybe I can "do" egg noodles - my lingering craving from carby days - to reach my UD cals? Well, that's a thought. Am I daft to drift to thinking I can eat egg noodles on my UD and still hope to see a weight loss while I do JUDDD? Will this really work? Smarter, maybe, to do a baked potato as a less-processed carb? Probably.

Thats a really interesting idea Leo! It was freaky strong hunger but I made it. whew! I don't think 200 is a set point for me though... 210-215 I think I DID weigh for a coupe of years. I think I flew right past 200 on my way up! lol.

You are NOT so bad! No negative self talk girl.
Alot of us needed several attempts before we succesfully got through a DD. They get so much easier the more you do them. And its like Zer said... that Annie song tomorrow really is our theme! I tell myself a hundred times on DD "its only one day I can eat tomorrow". My roomate laughs at me on DD nights "yay! you can eat tomorrow! lol".

So just go to the website and figure out your DD calories and then decide if you're going to do the all liquid approach that he recommends for the first two weeks or if you're going to eat real food (I ate real food). Either way plan out where your calories will come from. If you're doing liquid figure out exactly how many of which kind of shake that you have and then have them on hand.

You will feel hungry the first several DD that you do and it WILL be hard. But its just for ONE DAY and you will probably see a loss after one DD UD DD cycle. Come here for support. We've all been through it and know you can do it too.

oh heck no!
Lets see... when I first started I was in a HUGE HURRY to lose the weight. I started believe it or not I'm so crazy I started with a one week fat fast. Then I switched to Stilman's Quick weightloss which I managed for about a month. then I transitioned into Atkins Induction. Then I did Atkins Induction watching calories eating about 1500 per day. Then I climed the carb ladder a bit into OWL and also upped my daily calories to BMR eating of approx 2100 calories per day.

I have been doing JUDDD for the last ten pounds or so. After a three month stall eating to BMR.

I would switch my WOE or at least tweak it every time my weight loss slowed slowed slowed and eventually halted into a legitimate stall. I am HypoThyroid (was diagnosed about fifteen pounds and six months ago) so slow loss is part of my story. Unfortunatley extended stalls (3+ months!) are also.

I will not give up until I have tried EVERYTHING. I am hopefull that JUDD is what I can use to get all the way to goal.

Zer-
As Dr. J explains in his book, you don't have to reach those UD calories. The only number that's important is the DD calories. In fact, I think those numbers are for maintenance, so if you want to lose, your UD should be lower.

Personally, I came to JUDDD knowing the maximum number of calories I could average and still lose, and I eat well below the UD numbers that I get from the calculator. What JUDDD does is help me restrict calories more easily than I ever could if I just tried to eat the same number each day.

What a relief, that the UD figure is a limit and not a target! Whew! Thanks for reminding me of that. I am soooo NOT in love with eating now that it's funny to see me slam some protein-fat into me, grousing at how hard it is to get it down my gullet. I do not dislike eggs and sardines and tuna, just find it hard to eat as much as my body size calls for to preserve muscle mass while losing an ounce or two a day in a steady trend. Now I'm off to work at ****** for a good strong idea of what I can eat on a DD - using my WheyPP as a day starter to get 43g of protein into me first thing. Then snacking on HB eggs, sardines, if I can fit them into my DD total of 560calories. Plenty of water, all day long, too!
