As for today's fast, so far so good. Though I have to admit, it's challenging to make dinner for the rest of the fam when I am really getting hungry about now . But I'm going to stick with it - if you and Maizenbluebabe can do it, so can I.
Wallaby, you stick with it Girl! You can do it!!! It will be so worth it once you step on those scales in the morning and see a loss.
Don't get side tracked. Evenings can be rough since our seretonin is less in the late afternoon and decreases till we go to bed. The less we have of it, the more we want to eat which will stimulate it's production. It's the feel good hormone. Darn it!
Each time you do this water fast, it should get easier and easier.

I still can't believe this!

OK, now I've had writing on the wall (confirmation) today that I should not only fast for health reasons but for spiritual reasons as well.
Long story short, My husband and I own our own company and in our line of business, it's a rough and tough man's world for the most part. We sell fabricating equipment to industries like Lockheed Martin, United Space Alliance, Pilgrims Pride, etc. Anyway, one of our competitors, also a long time friend, called me up today and said that he knew I was a Christian but did I believe in fasting? I can't tell you how that made me feel but I can tell you this, I wasn't touching my chair, I think I was floating instead. I said yes, I believe in fasting and have been doing it every other day since January 5th to try and lose weight. He proceeds to tell me just how hard their business is being hit by the bad economic times and how he has a pulling in his heart to start fasting every Thursday and praying for his business as well has ones like his (which would be my business.) I told him that my husband and I would be more than happy to join him with this. So, is this a coincidence or some other Great Force here??? I think the later of the two. How cool is this?!?!?! I'm so EXCITED!
My poor husband has heard me give several sermonets on fasting for the past few weeks now because of all the books I've read & research I've been doing on the internet, so I've kind of given him a little glimpse of what it means to fast for both health & spiritual reasons. He's more than ready to jump in with both feet.
I just had to share with all of you. I think I'm still hovering above ground a bit from all of it.
XO,
Jen

Yikes! I just absentmindedly scarfed down a piece of olive bread while slicing it up for my kids. (it was hot from the oven....it just came over me!)

Not sure why this day has turned out to be harder than other days of fasting....it started so good. Maybe the cold? Thankfully, I'm still under 150 cals. for the day.

THE TIME HAS COME TO ADMIT:

I NEED HELP!

Would someone please explain to me how one quotes from multiple members all in one post? Directions may be available in the main lobby but my computer wont let me access that forum right now for some goofy reason.

In other words, I'd like to quote one post-quote from Jen, make a comment, quote from Caramel, make a comment, and then quote from wallaby and make a comment. I see people do this all the time but darned if I can figure it out and cannot find directions for this in the tech forum.

Just sign me, poor, pitiful Sally.

YOU guys are so funny with the birthday cake slices...great idea I would have purchased the cake and ate all of it!

In regards to the cooking class to eat the frosting...I did the same thing lol and took my dd along with me!

I'm struggling and HUNGRY GRR... I want to eat but hey the posting about fasting and the bible and prayer is helping me to get through it... Yes I can do this...

I need to go to the grocery store to pick up some things before the snow storm and am wondering how I'm going to make it throug the isles without putting everything in the basket lol... I guess I'll just take my dd with me to keep me in check!

Definitely gotta get to bed early to put these cravings to sleep...

Have a great evening everyone....

OK, I am trying the multiple thing now. thank you Zer.

Jen, I often find that things work out just right for us in surprising ways--my darling mother used to call this "The Divine Plan" and I believe in that. Actually--oh I hope this doesnt sound hopelessly old-fashioned, but I think this whole group of us have been led to each other by God for the purpose of improving our lives, our health.

Daisey. We are so delighted that you (and your heated mattress cover) have joined us! The WF is easier than you think but it is good to kind of ease into it--maybe practice a bit on your DD like I have been doing. Dont be impatient with yourself, I am still working my way into this each day. Stick with us, kid, and you will learn all sorts of weird (but fun) things!

Wow Jen that is exciting...devine intervention of some sort! I've been floundering for a while and am happy to have joined this thread...for both health and spiritual healing...

Janice...I was feeling a little light headed so I went for the V8 instead of the grapes my daughter was eating...

Any whoo told DH not to buy a cake, but cause we have four kids at home who thinks its their birthday when its mine, I went out and bought individual slices of cake and a pint of icecream, Today is an UD for me, I tweaked so it must all go today.

Maizenbluebabe how is that fast going? has that happened already, keep us informed, I don't post much on weekends so I had some catching up to do.

to all newbees. This is the greatest group of folks around, I promise you!

Wallaby hows your wf going? I know what you mean about being cold on the DD, I usually wear socks to bed and an extra blanket.

Whirlybird, Tommorow is a DD for me and at our church we recommend fasting all the time(I Just never participated before)the benefits is that it cleanses you spiritually and physically and Maizenblue babe, thanks on the info about fasting, very responsible of you. Everyone here seems ok but to newbees you really have to be careful. Weight loss issues run so deep with people, I myself have struggled all my life so getting the right information out their is a big plus.
Caramel, you got INDIVIDUAL pieces of cake? That is the absolute cleverest thing I have ever heard of and I am going to copy your idea next time there is an "occasion." Have you ever tried the Breyer's sugar-free, low-carb ice cream? It is sooooo good and it truly is low in carbs but not in calories as it has looooovely fat in it and great flavor and mouth feel and I cannot stay out of it, so almost never buy it. Yes, I agree with you and shunsweets and Jen that the spiritual aspects of fasting can really help bring us closer to God and also to others.

I am not lowcarbing now, I wanted to see how my weight comes off by eating regular food (regular healthy foods). If it does well I know this will be a way of life for me.

ARRRGH--I wanted the quote from Caramel to be part of the other one but I am a genuine Komputer Klutz sometimes

Anyhow, Zer, at least you got me started in the right direction and I appreciate that. I have been on threads where someone would post quotes--with their own replies in betwee--from as many of 5 or 6 people and it is a great way to go--very efficient! I just need to practice some more.

Tomorrow is a DownDay and I am SO LOOKING FORWARD TO IT--isnt that crazy. I always feel so good when I can look back on it and know I did it, even it I am not totally doing a Water Fast yet.

I think I shall call my method The AWF (Almost Water Fast)

NO, Janice, --we cannot afford to shoot you; that would cost us the fun of reading your "confession" over 2 bites of pasta! (But tell us EXACTLY what kind of pasta it was--we may need to whip you just a little bit. )

Thanks Ladies for agreeing with me about the divine intervention that took place today. I truly believe without a shadow of a doubt that God has a much bigger plan for us if we just open our hearts to it and let it in.
I know this thread isn't about religion so I do apologize if I've offended anyone here by my posts but I just had to share.

Tomorrow is my DD as well. Water fasting all the way baby!!!!
I have a plan of attack. My closet is in desperate need of a make over so I'm planning my day in my closet, only to emerge for more water and maybe a poddy break here and there.
My DH should be home to take care of the business phones for me.

I too need to learn to multi quote in one reply. I'm sure it's easy as can be. Hey, I just learned to resize pictures and add them to my posts. As you can tell, I think that is pretty darn neat.

I know this thread isn't about religion so I do apologize if I've offended anyone here by my posts but I just had to share.

Tomorrow is my DD as well. Water fasting all the way baby!!!!
No offense taken!

I wonder if Caramel is in sugar coma after eating her piece of birthday cake. I'm so gonna eat a big 'ol piece of cake on my birthday! I can't wait! Too bad it's 11 months away...

Hamburger Helper? Less than 50 calories? Definitely not even worth getting the whip out for that small slip-up!

you are a great addition to our thread, TJ, I think many of us were floundering until we found each other, and now we will all move ahead together physically and spiritually.

finally, relief from the cold!

I finally remembered the trick for sore muscles which is also going to work for keeping me warm on DDs: fill a sock with rice, heat in microwave for 2-3 minutes. It gets very hot and stays hot for awhile. just pop it back in for a couple minutes when it loses warmth.
___
As for my DD, well I made it, mostly. Except for that bread slip up, it was all water (and tea and coffee!) . Tomorrow is an UD and I'm not really looking forward to it to be honest.

Time for bed - with my rice sock!

My stomach is growling so I'm drinking a big glass of water. I really don't care if I get up throughout the night. I'm gonna take my butt to bed, talk to you ladies later!
Have a great night!
