Okay, I made it! Caught up finally on the thread. Whew!

Really sorry for the three million posts all in a row. I will try to not get behind so much again (although I am going on vacation for 9 days starting next Wednesday, I will just READ the board when I get back and not inundate you all with my little comments )

Today is an UP day. I had a decent amount of weight loss on the scale this morning after yesterday's fast. So I'm happy with that. I'm back in my normal range, no longer a couple pounds up from the holidays. So yay!

For the watching TV thing to work for me, it has to be something I've recorded to TIVO so I can skip the commercials. I don't watch much tv (about 3 hours a week) so it's usually something I actually want to watch - like Gray's Anatomy, I've used that to blackmail myself into getting on the treadmill before (if you don't workout you can't watch the new episode......). Audio books also work for me sometimes since my biggest gripe in life is not having enough time to read. I get them from the library and many have been good enough to motivate me into working out (especially if I make myself wait until the next workout in order to listen to some more). Yeah, I'm a geek

BUT the music has been great lately, a really nice switch up!

Made it through the busy day. Got in a 4 mile jog even though it was cold and windy - gave my Lazy inner couch potato a lecture and did it. Did all the chores. UD going well . Meat, eggs, LC dairy, and nuts - that's my UD menu and I love it. Just got to watch the portions on the nuts but they don't trouble my blood sugar so they are "good carbs" for me.

This morning during breakfast (wonderful bacon and eggs) I talked as DH read me snippets from the paper. I always agonize over my hair - should I cut it, grow it long?, I hate the middle stage where it is now. And my hair is lousy - thin, scraggly, graying unattractively (no pretty silver for me) so I was muttering a bit about going for a haircut today. My DH kissed me goodbye at the door as he left for work. He reached out one finger and touched my hair by my face and said "I like your hair". For a fleeting second my hair was beautiful and yes the haircut got nixed for today. The simple joys of life.

what a truly dear DH you have,ss! It is so heart-warming to hear something like this in a day where "perfect everything" in looks is so prized and inner beauty so often seems to go unnoticed! He is truly a treasure. (But I think you must be, too. )

HI, Quandria!!!!

Nice to see a 'friend' here my first week.

CTFLC was great - except that my body seemed to rebel against it, and I gained weight while following it to a tee during my second cycle. I also disliked the 24/7 detailing I had to do for menus. This is sooooo much simpler. So I'm giving it a go.

I do seem to use some of the CTFLC tricks though, as you said - and fortunately because of it, my portion sizes are smaller so the DD don't really seem all that bad compared to how they could feel.

I've been doing JUDDD since the end of September, and lost 11.8 pounds so far (December was a wash as far as weight loss, but I did a lot of celebrating ) I LOVE this way of eating. The down days get much easier as you go. Part of what makes them easy is that you had enough food the day before. Another part of what makes it easy is that you know you can have whatever you are obsessing about the very next day. Then when that day comes your appetite is generally much less than you would think! Win Win!

Some of the CTFLC ideas work on this plan. When I first started I would eat little somethings fairly often on down days whether I was very hungry or not. Now I wait as late as I can to eat anything, often it's dinner time before I have anything. It takes a little tweaking to figure out exactly what works best for you on this plan, but you'll get there.

Here are my totals for the day:

Totals: 369 calories 19% of recc. UD calories for weight loss (1924)
12g fat
0mg cholesterol
235mg sodium
60g carbs
14g sugars
18g fiber
10g protein

I was tortured. But I'm proud of myself. Wow. I can't believe I actually made it through today.

My newest invention is one I'm actually kinda proud of:
A Terry's Chocolate Orange Smoothie
(to fill you up)
1 Tbsp SF Orange Metamucil
1 Tbsp cocoa
water and ice

Blend together and drink.

Yup, okay I read about that in intermittent fasting. I tried to do it one day but couldn't sustain. I needed to eat something. Maybe it's something I could work up to though. Because some DD I don't even eat all my calories. I was reading about the many benefits of it though.

This group is awesome.

Hey Everyone...

Sorry for checking in so late! Today was a DD for me, although I think I went over my 500 calories. I think like Kisha suggested I need to start tracking again or perhaps do the water fast on my DD's.

I think I might make some cabbage soup for my DD's this weekend so that I can build up to a water fast during the week!

Hope everyone had a great day!

Me too me too! Have a great DD! I am doing well so far. I actually look forward to them now and they are WAY easier than in the beginning.

I am up .04 from yesterday's UD. Can't complain about that, I thought it'd be more of a gain (I ate some salty foods such as 100 cal popcorn and sun chips). On Monday I will weigh and I'll know how much I have lost in total for this week. So far I've lost 2.5 pounds! woo hoo it's been a good week for me!

Have a great day Judddlets!

Kisha, just write it off to your naughty thyroid, Baby, and keep on being faithful; I bet over time, that BadScale of yours will show a downward trend even if it is slow.

Wow Shuns, good for you on getting the run in even with the rest of your busy day and the weather being less than pleasant. That's really awesome!

Yeah, that's exactly how it worked for me. The 2nd and 3rd time through the CTFLC cycles I was gaining back everything I lost once I hit weeks 7 and 8. And I definitely like the simplicity of this plan, and the $$ savings!

I'm glad you're giving it a try, I hope you like it as much as I do!

Good morning everyone,

Well today was weigh in day for me, haven't weighed in since 12/30/09 and I have a loss of 2.8 pounds . That is totally awesome and believe me I couldn't do it without you guys. I was up a pound after a DD when I last weighed in, I thought maybe because of too much sodium the day before and a couple of you said drink lots of water and one person said take in some vitamin C and that is exactly what I did. I am also going to continue to weigh in once a week because every day or every other day was just too stressful. I did 30 minutes of aerobics this a.m and for breakfast had 4 cheddar bisquits using carbquick and they were so good but just coming in at 440 calories. I'm going to have to stay away from those things but I do find that while doing low carb the lc bready things use to cause me to stall or gain but with this woe they don't, anyone else have a similar experience? Well guys check in today.Hope you all have great UD and DD today.

I didn't do them at first and I don't think they're vital to success by any means. But as my down days got easier I was usually waiting until dinner time to eat anyway, so I tried it one day and it wasn't difficult, and I liked the way my body responded to it. So yes, it's something you can work up to, once you're really comfortable with down days it's not that big a leap to turn one a week into a water fast.

I love this group!

Woohoo Caramel That's great success! Good for you And excellent on the exercising too!!!

Ooooh I love biscuits. They're in my top 5 favorite foods, and I have to be careful to not make them too early on a weekend morning or I will polish off most of them before anyone else wakes up I have been trying to behave and haven't made them in a couple months, and they're a breakfast food so eaten early in the day which helps me manage carb calories (and I don't add anything sweet like jam to them, just plain). I love bready things more than sweets, so I do have to be careful to not have too many of them on any one up day.

Even if you went a little over I bet your calories were still in weight loss range, so don't worry about it. I definitely suggest tracking calories on down days, I'm religious about that and find it extremely helpful.

Awwww, so sweet. Sounds like you are having a great Friday so far! Good for you on the 4 miles!

It's "Crack the Fat Loss Code" a book by Wendy Chant, it's an 8 week program of controlled carb intake and timing of carb intake, and generally eating healthy foods in 5 or 6 small meals a day. After 7 days similar to Atkins induction (under 20 carbs per day), all the days are scheduled out; sometimes you have one healthy carb before 3:00 pm, sometimes two, then other days it switches up to where you're having your healthy carbs in the last two meals of the day.

The tricks I use are pretty basic, just combining protein with whole grain carbs with decent amounts of fiber to get small meals with lots of staying power. Those come in really handy on down days. Like mixing in a scoop of protein powder with 1/2 cup of oatmeal (or adding a bit of oatmeal to a protein shake), or using Ezekiel (or other flourless) bread with tuna or salmon, etc.

It's a great, healthy plan, and I have no doubt that my time on that plan made this plan easier since I really got in control of my eating there. But I do like alternate-day-eating better and the way the SIRT1 thing has cured my asthma makes me think this is the plan for me in the long run. And I find it much easier and my family isn't always confused about what I can and cannot eat any given day.
