Thanks for all of the congrats and words of encouragement! I really need them today. It's a DD and I've been very good so far, but I REALLY want to eat. I know I've said it before, but I very much like the way this group seems to THINK about everything. You are obviously all very intelligent people. I'm glad I found you!

As far as the scale goes, I want to only weigh myself once a week but I tend to jump on after every DD. I haven't checked yet, because I keep my scale in the pantry, but I think my husband hid it for me! lol

I like the actual cereal part of the chocolate Special K, but to me the little chocolate bits were much too waxy. I know some people love it, though.

Its going to be a GREAT Down Day!

Down Day for me today... and I know its going to be great! i am running errands on my lunch break so I will only eat once... after work I'll have a couple of cups of veg and a couple of eggs cooked in Pam. I'm going to a heavy metal concert tonight so I will be so NOT eating!

I have stayed off the scale thank god. Judging by the tightness of my ring I'm still retaining water. Though I did actually manage to drink maybe four glasses yesterday which for me is an accomplishment.

Here's my APPROXIMATE UD totals from yesterday... I almost got in the number of calories and my ****** measurements aren't exact so im sure I got there:

Calories 2,047
Fat 148.8 1,319 69 %
Carbohydrate 39.2 156 8 %
Dietary Fiber 9.1
Protein 108.2 448 23 %
Alcohol 0.0 0 0 %

Donia-

If I THINK about eating, I will always want to eat. I treat the DD as a "given"--i.e., I know from experience that what I have planned will be sufficient; I won't starve to death, so I just don't think at all about eating. Try to have a cup of hot tea AND distract yourself by doing something that focuses your attention away from food.

You CAN do this--you just need to convince yourself that you want to do it.

I always end up in heinous food porn threads here on LCF on my downdays. I mean, STAY OUT OF THE RECIPE and FOOD THREADS Kisha! Gosh.

I'm seriously laughing now! By the way, my shake is vanilla and really yummy. It's helping me to forget about the left over spaghetti and meatballs in the fridge.

There's another Alternate Day Dieting book called the QOD Diet, which is also a good book. The doctor who wrote that one suggests that an integral part of eating this way is to really listen to which healthy foods your body craves and make it a point to have them on your up days. Now if Nestle would make a Drumstick ice cream bar that hid some dark leafy greens in there unnoticed, I'd be SET!

Today is a down day, a fast so far. My flight leaves for the Caribbean at midnight tonight so I may have some dinner before then. Then I'm not sure how the next 11 vacation days are going to go. We have our own kitchen and a grocery store nearby, so I may try alternating at least a few days but I don't want to make my best friend feel too weird for eating if I'm not. I'm going to play it by ear. I figure I lost all my holiday weight, so I can always just pick right back up when I get back. I'm excited like a little kid, I've NEVER gone somewhere with nice weather when it's cold and rainy here. It's going to be a real treat

I'll be thinking of you guys, keep up the excellent work and thanks to everyone who posts for making this thread so motivational and interesting. I truly enjoy coming here and appreciate your helpfulness and friendship

Quandria-

That may happen naturally on this WOE if we learn to listed to our bodies. I usually plan my meals a week in advance (so that I don't have any 'extra' food around the house), but I've been noticing that on UD mornings, I sometimes feel like changing from what I've planned--not unhealthy things--just different.

Ilpirata - that is so funny about the food porn on your DD's. I watch the Food Network! I don't watch it normally, only on DD's! How tortuous is that? lol

Donia - you are doing great. I love Leo's advice. Don't give yourself a choice. DD's are no food days (well, you know what I mean, very little food)! lol The playlist is a great idea. You could also organize cupboards and closets. I've done that a few DD's.

Quandria - it is minus 30 here with the windchill, minus 19 without (Celsius). So I am VERY envious of your trip. Have a great time, we will miss you!

jgw - lol about the drumstick. Yum, that would be good. When I initially started JUDDD I would eat junky stuff on my UD"s just because I could. But now I don't, I found a real shift in my food cravings. Of course I still indulge in the odd treat, but nothing like before.

Hi to e/e gotta go figure out what to make for dinner!

Funny you should say that... I have always read that we should keep a food diary because it's proven to help eat on target and make better choices... but until the advent of online software, I just couldn't. Now though, I'm faithful, and I have to admit it does work.

About "listening to your body"--I tried an experiment today on my DD. I've always hit my 400 cal. mark, planning carefully to insure that I didn't go over. Today I had 400 cal. planned but decided to eat only if I were hungry. So today it's 300 cal.! Even though I can have another 100 cal. before bedtime and call it a success, I really have no desire to eat any more. Isn't this woe great?

Never in my life would I have believed that I could exist on a 300 cal day!

Wonderful! I too am at zero calories so far... but I DO feel hungry. NO stomach growling so far but I think I'll feed the little beastie just before I head out for a long night away from food.

I am now beginning to get VERY WORRIED!

After all this time, after all this sharing of our souls--and I suddenly discover I am spending my time with a bunch of MASOCHISTS! Oh horrors!

You-all are confessing LINDA SUE? FOOD PORN? THE FOOD CHANNEL? CLEOCHATRA? Lord have mercy--this is truely dangerous living! I am sure that Jacques Pepin cant be far away! Be strong my friends, you can lick this addiction to The Dark Side if you really try.

Quandria! DO have a wonderful time. Eat and drink and soak up the sun in the daytime and burn your candle at both ends--it will make a lovely light! And be sure to share the fun with us when you return.
