Nope. The only two times I've been VERY SICK is after I've had immunizations! One was for the old "Swine Flu" epidemic and the other was a few years back when I got the inhaled version.
As a general rule, I NEVER get sick! I retired from a medical office a year ago. My boss gave me that inhaled stuff, then I got sick, and she says, "So I suppose you're gonna blame the stuff!" LOL! She knows me too well. So nope. Not gonna do it. |

I usually do. I have asthma and if I get the flu it knocks me down for an extra week, at least because of it. I forgot to last year and thank goodness never got the flu but will try to get it this year.

I get them and so do my kids. I got the Bejing flu back in the 90's and got bronchitis that would not go away so now I am careful. I had the flu shot last year and still got the flu. However, my husband did not get the flu shot and ended up in urgent care. We both took Tamiflu to get over it but had he got the shot he would have not brought it in the house to begin with. None of my kids got it though which is good since dd has asthma. This year my kids got the nasal spray vaccine....how great is that?

No, no, definitely not.
I have had the flu exactly twice in my entire life -- once in 1990 and once in 2007, and both times were awful -- but if I take a flu shot I am GUARANTEED to get sick. I'd rather just chance it... after all, I'm not really due for the flu for another 16 or so years, with any luck. ![]() |

Nope. Never.
I considered it about 12 years ago when they had them for free where I worked but I don't like needles. So I opted out. Then-all my co-workers who had the flu shot-got the flu. That was enough to convince me not to get the flu shot. And I didn't have the flu that season. In fact, I haven't had the flu in like a long time. In fact, I haven't even had a cold nor the flu since I stopped doing cow's milk products. Dyan |

No, never.
My hubby does get the shot, but I swear he gets the flu because of it. He says he so lucky that he got the shot because his condition could have been worse. Ya, you keep on believing that dear! |

No. I'm trying to avoid getting sick by eating only unprocessed foods. Of course, I'm sick this week. Spent the last 5 days taking care of a sick friend, and now I have a sore throat this weekend, though it's not as bad as it was this morning. Hopefully I can fight it off quickly.

As a nanny with both kids in preschool, I will this year. Otherwise I am pretty much guarenteed to get it. Can't tell you how sick I was last year. It was one disease after another all winter. It was kinda interesting though. At one point we all had something that made us puke every 45 minutes for 12 hours. We all had it within 3 days of each other, and wasn't food poisoning, dad ate different stuff. lol.

Always - I've had mine already since I qualify as high risk with Asthma. One of my dd's also has chronic illness and always gets it ... I try to get all of us a shot but some years my littlest dd and dh can't when the vaccine stock gets low. It is best for all of us to have it, to minimize the risk of flu coming into our house and infecting my eldest.

oh yeah. I'm a shrink, and I am always having to retrieve used kleenex from the couch after the patients leave--I totally use another tissue to pick em up, but people spend all day leaking mucous in my office (TMI I know). Flu shot every year.

None for me; but I have to have a Yellow Fever vaccination administered in the days to come for an impending trip. I dislike vaccinations as it is, but it must be done!

I got the "flu" shot last year, but I got the stomach flu several times. My chiro told me that "they" misjudged which flu was going to go around and the shot they gave was ineffective against the true "flu". He said that they have a 4 in one chance of getting it right. I thought this was very interesting..

Every year. I would do anything I can to protect my family as much as possible and since I still have my dad, I won't risk his health by being sick around him.
I've always worked around or with hospital/ LTC facility patients/ residents so vaccinations are simply good health practice in that setting, more for their good than for mine. I also recommend the pneumonia shot. A couple of years after my first pneumonia shot I worked in an office where EVERYONE came down with pneumonia, and several folks had to be hospitalized. I had a mild cold. If the flu that goes around is a different variant, you may get that flu, but having the vaccination keeps you from getting the other variant or pneumonia (if you get that shot every few years) as a secondary due to your weakened condition from the flu you did pick up. It is now believed that most people who died in the great flu epidemic died as a result of the secondary disease that the flu made them very vunerable to.

I was told by my doctor that there are 30 dif strains of the flu. The shot protects you against the three deadliest that hit in January ~
Works for me ~ |

Yes, I will get mine this year.
It has been a difficult year for me allergy/asthma wise. Quote:
![]() ![]() there is no 'flu' vaccine for 'stomach flu' (gastroenteritis.) Flu (influenza) is a respiratory disease, not a digestive one. There are many strains and they do have a lot of guess work but a lot of research goes into the vaccine too. |

I had a liver transplant 24 years ago so yes, I do get a flu shot in the Fall. There have been 3 or 4 years when I didn't get one. I have never gotten the flu in all of this time but I did come down with pneumonia a few years ago, and this was after having the pneumovax 20 years prior to this. I have since had a 2nd pneumovax and will be getting one every 10 years from now on.

I get one every year. I have asthma too. I've never had a bad reaction to the shot, but I've heard a lot of people say that the only time they ever got the flu was after getting a flu shot.
