Hi there,

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism last Feb.07 resulting from a severe TBI. I am just curious to know if (in your opinion) if weight loss is still possible? My thyroid level is 3.3 and i'm on a 'low' dose of synthroid at 50 mcg. I see my DR again on the 28th of May.

Do you mean your pituitary tested read 3.3? (That'd be the TSH). What are your actual thyroid hormone numbers? (T4 and T3).

ETA: MOST normal thyroids and patient medicated have a TSH of around or under a 1.

You can't go by your TSH

You need to become educated about your thyroid. Have you read the sticky at the top of this board? I feel really badly for you with a doc who's letting you 'suffer' rather than give you the correct tests and then giving you natural thyroid (called 'Thyroid' in Canada). I have lists and lists for the US and other countries, but Canada (and UK) I don't have much..but I do have ONE for Canada, if you would like it, PM me please. Goodness..what if a doctor could get your thyroid to 'optimal' with both T4 and T3...you'd lose weight and be able to exercise and have energy.
