I have never found one that didn't streak. It's my skin, not necessarily the lotion. A have a friend who swears by the jergens. It does look good on her.

Sometimes its can be the soaps or products that you bathe with that makes it streak. I use a mild baby bath solution or a non moisturizing shower gel.

I won't use them. I feel like that in 20 years they will find they are carcinogenic...so I just do sun in moderation without sun screen (low Vit D here).

I've found that the Neutrogena spray mist is the best(imo). After having a melanoma removed last fall I can no longer be in the sun.

I use a combo of natural sun, maybe 15 minutes at a time, 2-3 times a week (weather depending), and Neutragena medium tint self-tanning gel (in the tube). I do NOT moisturize first, as this will guarantee streaking (for me, anyway). I make sure my skin is completely dry, fresh from the shower, and I use plastic gloves to apply the gel. That stuff is very difficult to wash out from under your fingernails, so the gloves help prevent hand/nail staining. I also only work in one small area at a time, opposed to putting a lot of gel on the entire leg and trying to rub it all in. No one has ever suspected that any aspect of my summer tan is 'fake', so I must be doing something right!

I was never one for the sunless tanners until this past New Years. I had dropped weight and bought a new outfit and wanted to look half way decent for New Years Eve with my hubby so i thought what the heck. I bought L'oreal Body Expertise Sublime Glow Daily Moisturizer + natural skin tone enhancer (medium) they have a fair or light skin one and a darker one. WOW is all I can say. I used it religousely the entire week before New Years and was so very pleased with the results. I will definately use this product again. I even put it on my face the last 2 days. I think it looked pretty decent. No streaking. No orange elbows, knees, ankles, or hands. You can make it as dark as you want depending on how many times you apply it during the day. I applied it once a day in the mornings. And nicely priced. I think it was like $6.00.

Here is a pic from New Years Eve... What do you think???

I always wind up looking like an Oompa Loompa with the fake tan lotions and might give the tanning booths a try as they are free at my gym. I do remember last time I burned my butt on the beds! Maybe the stand up booths will be better.

Ummm...well...
I have friends who run a chemistry lab at a local gigantic university and they are studying the effect of fake tanners on human skin. Here are their preliminary result: no problem with fake tanning alone, but if you do the fake tan and then go out in the sun it causes significant sun damage to your skin. Apparently the fake tanners make you tan with a sugar-substance, and sugar+heat=caramelization.
So - do the fake tan thing, just don't do the actual tan thing on top of it.

I have tried about 20 different types and I must say that Jergen's Natural Glow is by far the best. Absolutely no streaks, strange smell or funky color. It rawks this pale english gals world

I just used some of my hawaiian tropic gradual today. I did two applications. I do find that the graduals work much better these days without the streaks. I look as if I have been out and got some sun and I have a moist glow.

The most important thing to remember when using a self tanner is to exfoliate before use. That will help prevent streaks and also help the tan last longer.

Which ones would you say have the least smell. Streaking has never been an issue for me. It's been the embarrassing smell. I am always afraid to put it on and go anywhere for fear of others smelling me.

I like the one I use. I dont recall a "smell". Everything has an odor to it. Even lotions. I never put on sunless tanner and then "go out" I use it during the week at home and at night but never before "going out".

I have this stuff also but yet to use it. I know it comes on slowly, right? Well... my question then is...what about showering. Does that affect the process becuase it takes several days for it to really take affect, right? I was afraid I would end up putting the same application on over and over again if it washed off.

Just my crazy way of thinking I guess.

Nope, doesn't effect it at all since you are putting it on daily. You will start to notice a color change by the second application. Wears off very naturally too if you stop for a few days.

Oh man! I found a hum dinger! Banana Boat's Natural Glow. It's awsome! It rocks alright! I can hardly smell it either. I have been using it for several days and I am looking very natural. Just thought I would let you all know about it. I will probably use it every day this summer.

I seen the banana boat one at Big Lots last nite. It was $3. I should have gotten it to try. I have soooo many I hated to buy another one with the Hubby with me...lol.. I always have a hard time making my legs look good with the sunless tanners. I dont have any trouble with my upper body. Maybe its just me THINKING they dont look right. Do any of you obess about if your tan looks ok? I could be the only one..
