I'm still with it. I switched to ELOO a couple of weeks ago, hoping for a little more whitening effect on my teeth.
I do it every morning except Saturday...that's what fits my schedule. |

When I first read this, I though you were all crazy! But I'm game for almost anything, once. So I decided to give this a whirl. I have seasame oil and have been using it, but when I read the ingrediesnts, it says it is toasted seasame oil and safflower oil blend. I will go get some sunflower oil today.
I am truly amazed at how white and shiney my teeth are. I've been doing this about 3 days now. My teeth feel cleaner than when I get them cleaned at the dentist. Someone also mentioned that they had more mucus in their throat since OP. I also notice that, but I was thinkng that it may be the abundance of pollen this spring. I guess the next thing I will have to invest in is a Neti pot! Thanks for this thread. It is amazing. Peony |

But I think it is worth doing--just have a tough time fitting it in sometimes. There is no such thing as a routine around this place. |

I posted this on the new update thread, but thought I'd put it here as well...
Hi.. I stumbled across thisthread over the weekend, and went out and got my Sunflower oil.. It's been 4 days now... I have a question for the more experienced people. I haven't found an answer anywhere yet. OK, the first 2 days, I did it for 20-25 minutes and got the white, foamy results.. Now the past 2 days, I did it 25 minutes yesterday, and there was still some yellow to the oil.. Not a lot, but it was there.. Today I went 30 minutes, with the same thing.. So what's going on? Any ideas? I don't think I can go any longer than 30 minutes...LOL |

Strange.
I use sunflower or ELOO, 1 tblspn, 15-20 minutes. If you can't go 15 minutes, I would suggest a touch less oil...and go a little easier on your swishing. Kiki, I wouldn't worry about the oil not being totally white. Just go 15-20 minutes. If you don't think it's pulling that many toxins, maybe it's because you're so innocent and pure. ![]() |

OK, I'm trying this now with coconut oil. HOW in the world do you swish for more than a minute?!?! As the saliva builds up, I feel like I'm going to gag!
OK...I think I'm on a roll here. oooh..this is so not pretty. I think I've gone two minutes. I'm not going to make it much longer. I do brush my teeth with coconut oil though. YOU PEOPLE DO THIS FOR TWENTY MINUTES +/- ????? |

Three minutes...I think.
Y'all have my utmost admiration. Swish on! ETA: I have no doubt that the health benefits of this could be quite positive. Last edited by NutinHonie : 05-16-2007 at 04:27 PM. |

I would suggest you use less oil and try to swish longer.
As you get used to it, you might be able to handle a tablespoon. |

It'll be 2 weeks for me on Sunday.. Everyone always tells me my teeth are very white, but they never looked it to me.. Well after this, almost 2 weeks, I can really see a difference, and other people are really amazed... I have no idea if it's doing anything else.. I can't say I've noticed any differance in 'morning breath' tho...
Still 1 TBS for 20-25 minutes.. Still not completely turning white... |

I think teeth have a natural "whiteness" and not all people will achieve the same degree. My teeth were never really white. But they are so much whiter now than they have been in a long time. Also, I have a filling between two teeth that was really discolored and this is actually turning that white, too. It's awesome, if it does nothing other than the whitening. I can't imagine how this could be harmful, but I wouldn't want to do the chemical whitening every day--or even a week at a time as they suggest.

I have been pulling for 2-3 months now but only like 5 days a week and only 10 minutes max each time. My teeth are whiter and i just went to the dentist for a cleaning and my gums didnt bleed at all and she barely had to scrape my teeth. She said "you must be a flosser because your gums are so healthy". I'm not flosssing or brushing any more than i ever have so i do attribute my good gums to the oil .

Nope, Didn't see it.
Thanks! It looks like It is OK if I have my coffee and 8oz of "just up" water first then, as long as it isn't anything heavier. |

Just don't forget that the saliva is part of this therapy. When saliva mixes with the oil, it becomes anticeptic. Without the saliva, you wouldn't get the full benefit of the oil pulling.

I'm thinking of ordering some sesame oil from Amazon (since it's free shipping and I'm too lazy to go to the grocery store). I assume if it doesn't say it's toasted then it isn't? I don't want to end up with 4 bottles of the wrong stuff
