I use it every day and it has had no side effects at all. I am still losing just fine. if it was a steroid I would be worried but albuteral is not that bad

I use it four to six times a day in nebulizer, and perhaps five times a week with rescue inhaler, PLUS every other day steroids for a year, PLUS I'm hypothyroid...and doing Atkins, I've still not only lost the weight, but maintained for over three years!!

Actually, albuterol speeds up the system and is the reason why some asthmatics can't GAIN weight.

I have been using albuteral inhalers for 20 years now and don't have any side effects that I know of. I use it in the nebulizer once or twice a year when I catch whatever respiratory thing that is going around.

Now see...gonnalose only uses rescue inhalers and seldom nebulizer.....as many with allergies/asthma do. I use albuterol in order to breath...period.

Albuterol speeds up the heart actually, but it depends on what amount you are Rx'd and the amount that is needed by the lungs (bronchial tubes). I also have to use epinephrine (Epipen and in injection) if I accidently eat something/breath something I'm allergic to.

I think albuterol should be the least of your weightloss worries......you will lose the weight if you follow your lowcarb plan. I hope you are over your bronchitis very soon....the weather doesn't make it easier either, what with all the allergens.

Pam

my asthma doc says the new criteria for asthma treatment protocols (pam i know this can't apply to u hon. ) is if u need an asthma rescue inhaler more than 2x a week, ur asthma is not under control. and u need additional meds. it isn't good to depend on ur rescue inhaler for stabilization of the disease. a rescue inhaler is just that...for rescues.

she put me on advair (250/50) and i'm very fortunate that it has controlled my attacks. i have only had asthma since going on this medicine and needed my nebulizer, when i had pneumonia, and when my house was painted and the paint fumes compromised my breathing...beyond that i haven't neb'd.

prior to getting on advair i used my nebulizer or rescue inhaler at least 4x a week, multiple times a day. albuterol does place stress on ur heart. it is a beta agonist i believe.

i also agree with pami that weight loss would be the last thing i'm worried about with it. i'd be more concerned with breathing. i am still losing weight even being on advair. something i was very concerned about in the beginning. the quality of my life has so improved as a result of that drug (advair).

I use advair twice daily and combivent for a rescue med. I believe that the advair has slowed my weight loss, but I have been able to lose following the Atkins '72 and meat/egg fast. I am unable to do much aerobically (spell?) so I use Leslie Sansone's WATP tapes. I can manage those and it does help with my breathing.

Good luck to you, you can lose weight on these meds! A little walking will help tremendously, just go at your own pace and build up.

Shelly,

it looks like from your stats that you've already lost 79#!! That's awsome!!!

When I started using these tapes I could barely do the 1 mile, now I just breeze through that one. I notice a difference in my breathing, energy levels and mood. Everyone is different and reacts differently to medications, but I do believe that if you stick to the WOE and excercise at your level that you will lose weight.

Just hang in there, you've done a wonderful job so far!!!

I started on Advair about 2 years ago and haven't had any problems losing weight. Luckily I haven't had to use my rescue inhaler since starting Advair. I'm sure it's expired now.
