New to HCG - Old Timer on Low Carb Friends
Hi Everyone! I've been on this board for years and love the support here. I had success with Atkins years ago (with the help of this board) but became a vegan and got fat again. I'm 5 2 and 290 lbs and the heaviest I've ever been. I recently found a Dr who in January diagnosed me as Insulin Resistant, Hypothyroid, Adrenal Fatigue, Low b-12. I've been taking meds for a month and today I'm starting the "weight loss" part of thie plan. He has prescribed me sublingual HCG. (tablet) I will start on Saturday. He didn't give me a special diet or anything I just am supposed to take 1 HCG every morning and eat 1200 calories a day. I can't really do low carb because I'm a vegan so most of my foods are bread and rice and beans and salads. I will get my carbs in before noon. I would appreciate any tips or suggestions from folks who are doing the sublingual HCG and any food/eating tips. It seems as if some of you have a special diet to follow and I don't have that, not sure if I need it or the tablet is enough. Looking forward to being a loser and appreciate tips/support

Hi Andi and WELCOME!
I am also hypothyroid and hypo-adrenal and was previously diagnosed with vitamin deficiencies and insulin resistance (since cured). Just wanted to let you know that you are not alone there!I DO think that the diet component part is very important for hCG to be effective and I'm actually quite shocked that your doctor did not even attempt to help you with that. Boo! The original diet protocol is all over the internet, called Pounds & Inches, and many have found that Robyn Woodall's Weight Loss Apolcalypse is also invaluable. Vegan or not, I would recommend reading both to understand why and how the diet works and the other components to fixing your metabolism. The protocol may seem extreme (I was in COMPLETE denial about it for months before trying it) but with hCG it IS completely doable, even on the very low calories that it calls for. Anyway, I'm not a vegan but I'm going to go out on a limb here. I would recommend substituting the protein portion of the diet (chicken, fish, beef, shrimp) with some sort of low fat/low carb vegan alternative with equivalent calories. Do you eat tofu? How about protein powders? Either of those may be a decent substitute. I would encourage you to read the original docs but check this out for a start... HCG diet short form It has the basics of the diet. Like I said--don't freak out! It IS doable and really really works! Good luck!

Andipand- I recommend you get some Sun Warrior vegan protein powder. It could really help you get your protein in during hcg.

Excellent post Shelby!!
Andi, I am Hypothyroid and am doing just great with the HCG. I don't know anything about eating vegan, but others will prob chime in. I wish you much luck as this protocol works and while I have many more rounds to do, I have never felt better in my adult life!! ![]() |

Thank you all for the warm welcome. TMB - I will check out that vegan powder! I've lost 3 lbs in one day. Yeah it's just one day but it's the motivation I needed. (And this bulletin board)

Welcome
Hi ... there are a couple different protocols. One is 500 calories and one is 800 calories. I know Dr. Simeon's is 500 and the one I'm doing is 800 calories by Dr. Lipman. If you decided to do the 800 calorie protocol, you can order the literature from his office (Dr. Lipman located in Miami, Florida) and it's inexpensive. Hope this helps and good luck!
