Tofu

Does anyone know if we can use TOFU as a protein? I would think it's actually healthier than beef? I'm not a big meat eater usually - fish and chicken basically. I love tofu and would really like to incorporate that into my meals. It's pretty much no fat, no sugar, no carbs? I didn't see this anywhere in any of the 9038023803284038 threads I've been reading so I would like to know so I can add it in as a variety of protein.

Thanks:)

It's not protocol so it depends on whether you want to be strict protocol or not. P&I doesn't say that you need to eat beef. You can eat different kinds of whitefish, shrimp, chicken, cottage cheese (3oz) and eggs (3 whites and 1 whole eggs) as your only proteins and still stick to strict protocol. OR you can add tofu and go rogue. Up to you.

In addition to the fact that's it's not protocol, Tofu is a processed food. I think part of the advtantage of this diet is to get back to the healthy eating of non processed food. I think of this diet as a sort of cleanse.

Thanks, Shelby and 2bfit :)

I am going to stick with protocol on round 1. Round 2 I'd be interested to see if I introduce tofu in one meal if it will work. I am not a meat eater and this is going to be a real test for me. I'm very ready to get this going. Today is day 1 of Loading for me. I've done all the measuring (thanks Drill Sargeant Patrick), pictures and weighing in and put it all in my journal. Started on the 3 pellets first thing this morning and I'm so excited to do this! I'll keep coming back with questions, I'm sure.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. No tofu this time around.

One of my favorite work lunches is cottage cheese (3oz) because it is easy to prepare, packs small, and instant. I eat it in the following ways, with:
-fresh salsa spooned and melba toast
-fresh strawberries sliced, cinnamon and stevia
-apple slices and cinnamon
-tabasco and cucumber slices
-cherry tomatoes and tabasco

That's a whole week's worth of lunches right there. In reality, I alternate those with hard boiled eggs. I go a little rogue and eat two hard boiled eggs instead of 1 whole & 3 egg whites. Just easier.
Basically with a dozen eggs and a 16oz tub of cottage cheese, you've got your week's worth of protein for under $5. That's how I roll during the work week!

Caligirl that's genius! I'm going to copy and paste that into WORD and go with that! I've been trying to stick with one thing for a few days in a row so when I get bored with it I will move onto the next thing. Hopefully that will get me through for the next 40 days...lol

Thanks for your help and the tips!!

Perhaps a stupid question, but is that fat free cottage cheese?

MOMMYONAMISSION 02-23-2013 06:46 PM
