Today is VLCD27 on P2 and I'm up .5lbs!!!
How did this happen?!?!? This isn't a stall or plateau - I freaking gained! I haven't cheated once - not a morsel to my lips. Maybe b/c I had egg whites on Saturday and 1/2 cup cottage cheese yesterday? Or I'm due for TOM? Should I do an apple day? I'd be happy to! I would be secretly annoyed the few times I remained the same weight but this is just a kick in the mouth.
Please help! Any feedback would be so appreciated! THANK YOU! |

Do not panic!!! It happens. You will be fine, you just have to keep on keeping on. It will come back down and come off. Repeat after me.....these things happen. You are not at fault, so there is nothing to be done but follow protocol. Just relax and keep doing what you are doing because you are doing great!!!
PS--I know this is much easier said than done, but it has happened to each one of us. Perfectly normal to bump up WHILE STRICTLY adhering to protocol. |

OH, in re-reading your post---do NOT do an apple day. Those are for when you are stalled---not for when you have gained!!! Just eat your normal P2 protocol friendly food. I eat eggs and cottage cheese on P2 all the time. You are allowed those 2 items.

Dawn and jabbok, thanks so much for your prompt feedback. I really appreciate the support. Okay, going to keep on keeping on.... Was just really frustrated - thinking maybe I should've just stuck with the 21 day phase and not go the whole 43. Definitely not stopping now but it really killed me to see the scale go up.
There's worse things in life - I gotta get a grip!!! LOL! Thanks again! |

Yes, it is hard to see the big picture. We try to emphasize that when you are the same on the scale or even bump up. You have to look at the big picture
In the grand scheme of things your body is doing awesome work. You may not see it, or even feel it, but it is working extra hard for you. Sometimes it just needs a day of rest. I am sure you will whoosh it off tomorrow. |

Thought of you when I read this tidbit in Pounds and Inches last night:
"The weight registered by the scale is determined by two processes not necessarily synchronized under the influence of HCG fat is being extracted from the cells, in which it is stored in the fatty tissue. When these cells are empty and therefore serve no purpose the body breaks down the cellular structure and absorbs it, but breaking up of useless cells, connective tissue, blood vessels, etc., may lag behind the process of fat-extraction. When this happens the body appears to replace some of the extracted fat with water which is retained for this purpose. As water is heavier than fat the scales may show no loss of weight, although sufficient fat has actually been consumed to make up for the deficit in the 500-Calorie diet. When then such tissue is finally broken down, the water is liberated and there is a sudden flood of urine and a marked loss of weight. This simple interpretation of what is really an extremely complex mechanism is the one we give those patients who want to know why it is that on certain days they do not lose, though they have committed no dietary error." |

Another thought - sometimes we have to step back and look at things logically. If you are following the protocol to the letter, do you really think you gained fat overnight on less than 500 calories? Of course not. The average is 0.5 lbs per day. If you had a day where you lost more than that, then logically you will have a day (or several) where you don't lose anything (or gain a bit maybe).
This is the point where Robin Woodall would say "throw the F bomb scale out the window and trust the protocol!!!!" ![]() ![]() Last edited by Kateenie; 01-30-2013 at 07:10 AM.. |

Besides, assuming you're a woman... our bodies are like ocean tides. The fluids go up, the fluids go down... they hide in the rocks... then rush down the waterfalls. I'm really just making this up, but you get the picture.
