P2 and 500 cal worth of protein and veg still have to be low fat?
Qu. I've done p2 following protocol and lost a lot of weight but I just can't do it that way again. I read wheat belly and want to do low carb- really low carb like induction low. Anyone ever just done low fat meat, eggs and veg? And counted 500 worth of cal and not worried about when they ate it during the day or how much, just amt of calories (500) or under 20 carbs?
Thanks! Hope that made sense. Traci |
On protocol you can have 3 eggs whites and 1 whole egg, as a serving of protein.

I use coconut oil on p2. I sauteed asparagus with the eggs. It's a very tasty treat on p2 lol

The protocol itself is pretty inherently low-carb with the exception of the grissini and the fruit. I have only included the grissini once and it didn't really work for me (kicked off cravings). A lot of people leave that out. As far as leaving out the fruit, I know a lot of people have blood glucose issues with fruit and have tried a couple of different things to avoid those. One is leaving it out entirely. Another is only eating the very low GI choice--the strawberries--as the fruit. If you left it out, I think I would increase veggies to make up calories and I might include an extra ounce of protein at each meal. I personally wouldn't use fats to make up the calories (coconut oil or anything else) but that's just me. JMHO

I agree with shelby on this one. I used coconut oil on one of my rounds and stabilizing after was a booger. I know everyone's different, but since P2 is supposed to NOT be about the scale (because lots of things can cause a loss), but about "loosening" up the body's storage reserves and losing it from the right places, why put any fat in there at all and muck things up? I know the arguments for and against co. I know folks who've used it. I get it. I just think the plan, as written (but you can certainly leave things out if you choose, like the fruit or the grissini) works so well, why mess with it? It's such a short time! Doc Simeons knew what he was doing. YMMV. Whatever you decide is up to you.

Hi C'Marie,
I totally agree. In my several rounds I've tried following the protocol to a t and lost as Dr. Simeons said I would. I tried stretching the protocol by adding "just a little" here and there and didn't lose as well. "just think the plan, as written (but you can certainly leave things out if you choose, like the fruit or the grissini) works so well, why mess with it? It's such a short time! Doc Simeons knew what he was doing." Hope you are doing well. Nice to see you here!! Betty |
