B. Accidental Carbohydrate Intake – for each molecule of carbohydrate, three molecules of water are present. To burn carbohydrate calories, insulin is secreted. Insulin is a water-retaining molecule.
C. Medications – some medications cause water retention.
D. Hormonal Changes – Female hormones such as estrogen cause fluid retention. Water weight fluctuations are particularly common before, during, and after menstruation.
E. Vigorous Exercise – weight lifting or high intensity exercise creates changes in the muscle. The muscles retain water in order to repair and rebuild.
F. Alcohol – consumption of alcohol can increase or decrease water in the body.

Hi buttah

TY so much for posting this info...TONS of great stuff!!!

I have to admit that I am really affected by scale changes, whether dieting or maintaining, and they can/do affect the rest of my day. I did not realize the fact that there are THREE parts of water to ONE part carbohydrate...no wonder I get such a bounce by eating just minimal carbs Makes you think twice about "picking" at carbs like I do. Even though I don't usually EAT a whole carb item...I've had enough, obviously.

Thanks again

Checking in...

Hi all

I am on day #3 of FF. I am at 167.4 lbs. +.8 lbs. If I follow the pattern like last time, I STS day #1, gain day #2 (maybe salt), and lose day #3 (losing the salt). Although I don't have to lose...I'm okay for TOPS. My plan is to bounce around between 167-170 lbs. That leaves me literally 8 lbs. to play with w/o ever being out of max leeway.

I went to the gym for the first time in over a year. It was great!!! I opted for a Zumba Gold class which is Zumba, but at a lot SLOWER pace. I kept up quite well to my surprise. And I actually had one of those "AHA" moments...I was ONE of the few thinnest people there...imagine that!!!! Never had that happen before. And, I was not AFRAID of the wall of mirrors. Those ceiling to floor mirrors really tell you the truth...whether thin or fat

I suspect that my TOM (feeling it today...so prolly tomorrow!) is going to be 5-6 days early...I'm sure b'cuz of the hHCG. I would have rather it come next week so I can stabilize this week...grrr! Maybe it will be light during my 2 days

Have a great Monday!!! Off to work on my curriculum.

You can do it! It can be a mini test for you to get your confidence back. Reading WLA will help give you strength and you have a game plan. It will be fun. I enjoyed not feeling stuffed afterwards. The whole table was dying of thirst, though.
I stayed the same on saturday, skipped the scale yesterday, but was down .8 today. I am very happy.
Thanks for all your support.

Happy Monday, everybody!
Are you hungry aside from meal times? If so, I changed my dose to 15 drops, 3xs a day, for about 5 days. I didn't want to run out so I tried 8 drops, 4 xs a day. I stayed there because It is working. I also spaced my food out differently. Good luck!

The vanilla creme is ok, but does nothing for this sudden mocha coffee craving...
I have a LOT of the flavored stevias (like 12 different kinds) and the chocolate is my LEAST favorite. It has a very artificial taste to me although it IS improved significantly by mixing it with the vanilla creme in a hot drink. I do like the chocolate raspberry a lot. Also the English toffee and hazelnut flavors are da bomb in coffee.

If you are just looking for a little chocolate flavor for your coffee, try putting a teaspoon of unsweetened cocoa powder in the bottom of your cup, mix it with a little coffee (2T) and regular or vanilla stevia until it is incorporated in the coffee, and then fill your cup up. (This also works with spice teas--YUM!) You CAN use cocoa powder during protocol--it's considered a "spice" as long as it doesn't have sugar in it.

Well, today is Day 1 of vlcd and I struggled a bit. I felt so light headed and weak. I was def short tempered too. I looked at my calories for the day and Ive only had 300. I will admit I cheated a bit. At grocery store, I didn't have the protocol with me, so I bought pineapple and had some before finding out it is a no-no. I also had 1 serving of melba toast instead of just 1 toast. Hopefully doesn't mess me up too much

Jazzy1, you'll get the hang of things. Keep protocol lists with you somehow so if you get caught and have to buy something you can make a good choice. And about the melba, it depends whether you have the melba snacks or the melba toasts, about 20-24 calories is allowed for the serving. Maybe you did ok. Check your box

Excited to see how you do on weigh in tomorrow morning!

Morning ! R4P2D10 & down 1.0 to 130.6 Can't wait to see the 120's ! So far this taking things one day at a time seems to be working for me with small goals. Specially on tough rounds 30 days seems so far off that I would of quit the round already if not for my "one day at time" mentality. I'm also going to adjust my goals : get to vacation weight (check & under pre-vacation weight !!)... next ldw 129.2 ... then get to lowest weight ever (my 2nd vlcd last round without drops 128.4... finally 125.

Pandora, you have done great! That incredible gain was prolly just water and bloat from what you ate on vacation. Congrats and keep on trucking!

Shelbyla, thanks for the heads up on the stevia drops and the tip for adding cocoa. I wasn't aware that cocoa could be used as a spice in small amounts! Adding some to my next cup of coffee tomorrow morning!

I made the P2 apple "pie" treat last night and I thought my puppies (and hubby) were going to have apoplexy! The whole house smelled like I had baked an apple pie and there was no sharing going on last night. The puppies got a begging strip doggie treat but hubby had to find something for himself, lol!

I don't do drops; I do injections, and I follow Simeons' recommendation (as does my clinic). My last injection was Sunday morning, and today is Tuesday. So the day of the last injection is VLC, then two more days. Which ends when I wake up tomorrow!

See you guys in in P3!!!

Thanks! I weighed myself and am sooooo happy! I am 2.4 lbs lower then my loading weight. So 2.4 lbs in 2 days. (1.7 lbs lower then pre-loading weight) 20-24 calories for melba? Ok good. 5 of them are 30 calories. So I did fine I am happy I am on this WOE right now.

Was funny yesterday. I went to a health food store to price out HCG if they have it. They did. $60 for 45 days. Not too bad. The owner of the store started telling me that I do not need anything that long as I have very little to lose. (I want to lose 40 lbs more so I think I do). She told me that 10 lbs is all I need.

I AM ON VLCD21! I am happy P2 is just about over, especially since I'll be out of drops by the end of today! I really want to do P3 right. Now, it looks like my sister will be coming from LA, to stay for over a week. I'll stay strong. Anywho, should I wait the three days or the two days before starting P3. I want to do things by the book.
Thank you!

My last dose of the homeopathic hcg was yesterday at lunch, so I am ready for P3 tomorrow at dinner. You wait 48 hours after your last dose with the homeopathic. You wait 72 hours after your last dose of the Rx.

I cannot wait til dinner tomorrow

Hello everyone, it's been a few years and I'm back for more. I gained back a lot since my last round because I didn't change my habits. Lesson learned.
This time around, I'm doing rx under supervision of a naturopathic doctor. I will be checking in with the doctor once a week for a body composition test. My first shot will be on
Saturday.
I'm nervous and excited! The big challenge this time around will be educating my partner on the diet. He's supportive, but he will need some training on what to cook. He loves cooking for me...but these restrictions are going to be tough for him. I'm going to print off a bunch of recipes.
I'm going to do a 40 day round, followed by a full P3. I have a lot to lose, so I will probably do a second round later in the year.
I am so ready to start the journey towards optimal health!

Oh Shelbyla, I took the cocoa and mixed with vanilla creme stevia and coffee and OMG I am in coffee heaven...I didn't even miss the cream in my coffee! Thank you so much for that tip!

Jazzy1 congrats! Pandora, you are doing so very well! I am so glad to see your progress...

Buttah and Dawnyama, and fiveninepointfive, good luck on P3! I will be reading to see how you guys do.

I am on P4D10 and am down as of this am to 9.6#! I am doing the happy dance. I was another one who fell off the haywagon after my last round. I thought I could screw up my last P3 with no effect. Wrong. I didn't stabilize and then went on a cruise, threw caution and sanity to the wind, and then pretended Santa would bring me a good weight for the holidays. From my LIW in Nov til I stepped on the scale after two loading days I was up 16 lbs. Yep. I was so freaked out I couldn't even cry. So, right now I am almost within 6 lbs of my LIW from round 3. It is not fun to have to relose the same pounds a second time. Unfortunately, I am not going to be like Pandora...my gain was pure fat, not water and inflamation. So I keep telling myself that I really enjoyed the cruise, and I did have a great holiday season, however I learned some very import things. Firstly, P3 is VERY important. Eating like a condemned person just is foolish. (no matter how much I enjoyed it...) And after reading WLA, I know that I ate without hunger, over and over again. At 59, I am still learning...

after re-reading...Pandora, I am in no way diminishing your achievement...you are awesome...I guess I didn't phase it right!
