Help with SF products.

I’m starting P3 Monday so I went grocery shopping today to stock up on some food items. It’s been a while since I did LC so it wasn’t quit as easy as I thought it would be. I’ve been lurching around the message board for about a month now trying to read as much information as possible. I know P3 is no starch and no sugar everything else is allowed.

So my point being can I get some suggestions on products that that do not have sugar added or any form of sugar. These are the products I know about, of course some are only local but I appreciate any help I can get.

Carolina Pride is a SF bacon
Smucker’s is SF and natural Peanut Butter
Dukes Mayo is SF
Boars head lunch meat but I think only Publix sells that product.

I was looking for hot dogs, pepperoni, sausage. Whip cream (Without having to make my own).

Thanks
Deana

If you like it, Heinz has a reduced sugar ketchup. Applegate Organic Uncured Beef Hot Dogs at Whole Foods (beef dogs usually are more likely to have no sugar). Land O Lakes has a sf whipped cream (although it is super easy to make if you have a small food processor). There are all kinds of sf peanut butters but stay away from peanut anything in P3--they are legumes and best saved for P4. Try almond butter instead. Most reduced sodium bacon is also sugar free. You might look for reduced sodium pepperoni although I have trouble finding that myself. Sausage--varies by brand but I've found Italian sausage (the raw kind, not pre-cooked) to be most likely to have no sugar. Most breakfast sausages do.

HTH and welcome!

from another Columbian here!!! Where in Columbia are you? We are out by Dutch Fork High School, which is Irmo. But I still say I am from Columbia when someone asks

I buy Land O'Lakes whipped cream in a can. I can find it at my Publix. My "old" Walmart had it as well. My "old" Walmart is the Harbison store. It is sugar free and has a purple top. We love Nathan's hot dogs--lowest in carbs we can find. And my DD just loves them. And my Bi-Lo has Boar's Head lunch meat. Sausage and pepperoni--I just buy the national brands and don't go hog wild. They may have sugar, but it is so little in the actual product that it doesn't matter. My bacon has the added sugar too, again so little that it doesn't matter. Happy P3ing to you!!!

Great news on the Heinz thanks for that information, I will look for that next time.

I went to Wal-Mart but they didn't have the Land O'Lakes, unless it was just out of stock. I will pursue that further. I do know how to make my own but it's nice to have a quick fix when i don't have time. I only have the old fashioned hand mixer to make it and it's a pain.

Dawn,

I usually shop at Bi-Lo since it's the closets store to me but I've never seen Boars Head, i may have to go to a super Bi-Lo and check it out.

I did buy a few items that have sugar but as you mentioned it is so little it doesn't matter. I just don't want to make that a habit of saying "it's so little t doesn't matter". I want to do this as clean as possble since it's my first time around.

I love in NE Columbia, by Farrow Road/ North Brick Yard. Nice to meet someone else so close by.

What about salad dressings, any suggestions. I would love some Ranch or Blue Cheese. The one's i checked have sugar as the 2-3 item. Don't want to take that much of a chance. So i opted for a oil/vinigar kind. Really not what i enjoy.

Thanks for the help.

When I did p3 and low carb atkins I always used regular hidden vally ranch. Also used regular bacon and oscar mayer cheese dogs or sabretts hot dogs. I use the land o lakes sf whipped too. Hormel has mini peperoni individual packs at walmart and those are a great snack. I think its alot better to have convenient food around in order to not eat carby food. I stabilized well on p3 only had one correction day afer getting into real christmas cookies and mashed potatoes so the little bit of carbs in bcon or whatever didn't affect stabiliztion for me. Plus it helps your body not freak out and gain tons when you start adding regular carbs in p4.

As for salad dressings, I use blue cheese all the time. Just cannot use any other dressing. That is why I cannot have lettuce in P2--cannot have it on P2. The one that you can find in the produce section is the best best--fresher. I think Maries or Marzetti's are 2 brands that can be found there.

My Bi-Lo is a super small one. Very local, so when they had a big sign in the window that they carry Boars Head I got excited!!! Maybe it will come to you guys soon enough. Or you can ask, since my Irmo Bi Lo has it, they should be able to get it too. How far is the Publix? I can find the sugar free Land O Lakes whipped cream there. I make a special trip to Publix for those certain items I just cannot find at my Walmart. Like Hershey's special dark cocoa, coconut water (well until Walmart started carrying it), full fat Greek yogurt. I am glad I can find THOSE locally!

Ok, I will quit worrying so much about the small amounts of sugar in items and focus on the big picture. Eating healthier.

My Publix isn't too terribly far it's just not convenient so i don't usually shop there. But i will check it out for the hard to find items.

I'm so grateful for this website, all the good advice given.

Thanks
