Why can we have Diet coke/aspartamine on a correction day?

I'm still learning things about the HCG diet how the combination of protein & fat makes someone lose weight. but I don't understand how having a diet coke, for example, could interfere with that process. Like if I have a steak day, how can having a diet coke hurt? If someone can explain the mechanics of that to me, I would greatly appreciate it.

What exactly have you read about hcg? The HCG diet is a low protein, low fat diet so there is no combination of them that causes weight loss. It's the very low calorie protocol and the combination of specific foods along with the hcg that cause the release of fat. This is called Phase 2. Although only saccharine and stevia are recommended in the original diet in P2, many people use today's sweeteners including aspartame with few issues. There is no prescription against aspartame or Diet Coke in Phase 3 where steak days are used.

Phase 3

Oops, sorry I wasn't clear. I meant the Phase 3 of the protocol, where low carb is essential. I also read that clean eating is very important: this includes consuming very few to none preservatives, additives, artificial anything etc, including aspartamine.

I have diet soda very often on P3, as well as keeping up with my water intake. I eat no sugar and no starch--those are the ONLY rules of P3. Not sure where you heard of the above^^^ Of course that would be good if you can do that!! But I know I cannot keep to that list of stuff up there.....just too hard on my budget and means.

Some people demand that you refrain from sweetners during all parts of Simeons, and that's not the case, mostly personal sentiments about purity of diet and all.

Of course if you are doing elimination, and think sweeteners are a problem, this would be a good time to refrain, but it's not a requirement of the diet to do so in phase 2 or 3.

Dawn!

Like metqa said, if you are using the P2 or even the P3 time to test yourself for possible reactions, it is best to start with a clean slate, doing an elimination diet while you're doing that. I usually suggest people try it, IF they can. Only because then you know if you start having any issues, where the possible culprits may be. I myself seem to have issues with some sweeteners, even though others may not. I actually get hungry soon after eating when I have them. Now that I know that, I have greatly reduced my intake of those kinds of chemicals and only have them when "out" very rarely.
