I think it would not have come off so fast had I let it settle in kwim. And I know I gained 23 lbs because my pants did not fit, even my bra was tight and I had my husband re calibrate my scale the moment I got home and weighed my hubby & my son ! Well at least I'm not beating myself up about it & I can laugh about it & I definitely did not think it was funny last week. |

that made me laugh !Woke up R4P2D8 & -1.0 to 132.4 so I am now 1.4 away from pre-vacation weight. Let's see what the next 2 weeks brings !! Reading WLA & got up to Chapter 3 last night. Want to finish it tonight or tomorrow. Just trying to wrap my head around the whys on when I over eat/binge. How to try to get a handle on it so next vacation I can enjoy myself without over eating. Trying to figure still out my "true hunger" that she's talking about. I thought I had it down pretty well this last round until this vacation. I guess it's a work in progress. |

I know I said I would try to type up my vacation "no gain" method rules in the P3/P4, and I haven't had time, but I will say that I restrict carbs, enjoy myself with protein, eggs, omelets, fats, veggies and lovely sauces, and I do NOT get full. Ever!!! I also share deserts, something like every other day (which I "earn" by not eating bread, potatoes, rice, fries and NOT filling up.) I never have my own desert, but I've found I can be quite happy and fulfilled sharing. But the main thing? I do NOT FILL UP. Ever, ever, ever.

P3 I stop eating when I'm full & I eat when I'm hungry. I do have a small rule of not eating past 7 pm on P3/P4. As long as I do high protein/high fat/low carb I tend to not really get too hungry and find it easier to not over eat. IS that what you mean buttah ? I do like the idea of rewarding myself and earning certain privileges. For ex I am not allowing any shopping until I finish this round or get to 125 whichever comes first. That's a big deal for me. I can see rewarding myself with a shared dessert if I eat clean. |

I've posted this before, and believe it or not, people get pretty argumentative about it. It's like they want to retain the "RIGHT" to overindulge. So I'm not going to on and on, but here you go:
The hunger scale in a nutshell, 1 = starvation and 10 = ate so much you feel sick or it hurts. The object is when you are between a 3 (ready to eat NOW) and a 4 (getting hungry but could wait a bit) to eat as much AND ONLY AS MUCH as it takes to raise that level to between a 5 (neutral--neither hungry nor full) and a 6 (satisfied but not full). The key here being eating ONLY when the hunger signal is present—not because you are socially obligated, or you are bored, or you have the munchies, or you are stressed or depressed. As most of us know, that is WAAAY easier said than done and this is where the psychoanalysis piece of the book comes in. You can also "manage" your hunger to be hungry at the time of a dinner or an event, but learning just how much of a little snack will get you back to being "ready to eat" at the right time. This is what I do. Again, people will come out of the woodwork saying things like "the hunger scale doesn't work for me." To which I say, then you're eating a bit too much. And my two favorites: "but can't I enjoy food anymore?" and "haven't I earned the right to an indulgence with all my successful dieting?" The answers are YES (more isn't better - you can enjoy food without stuffing yourself) and NO (not if you want to live a thin life, like a normal person without food addiction issues.) Having said all that, I DO stay away from carbs and sugar, even in P4 and even on vacations. I have desserts, but like i said, I share them. And not every day. That is my only carb/sugar. Hope that helps. OH, and I reward myself with new clothes. Much more fun than having bread at a restaurant before dinner! Last edited by buttah; 01-13-2013 at 10:56 AM.. |

Ok I think I am getting it Buttah.. I do find that while P2 is hard it does put in perspective that I can eat small portions and be full - physically & after this vacation overload it sort of took the enjoyment off the whole trip. I was so stressed over the overindulgence that it took the fun out of the trip. The guilt after also didn't help. And while it's a relief I am losing the weight it doesn't make it ok or worthwhile (for me anyway).
So I guess it was a valuable lesson for me. This P2 is hard but emotionally strengthening. I think in WLA she makes reference to how P2 makes us stronger so we can identify our weaknesses. I am trying to get past the number on the scale to just where I feel right with my body & eating. I am looking forward to P3 again so I can find that balance I had right before vacation. I now can identify it. It's at the beginning of P4 where I was at a point where I enjoyed "my foods"/ was happy with my body/found it easy to say no to foods that were not "my foods". I look back at work lunches, meetings, restaurant outings, birthdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas etc with little to no gain and I did not feel deprived. I lost that briefly but I know now I had it and am working hard to get there again. Thanks buttah ![]() |

Yay, Pandora!
And something I really learned a lesson from - this round, I loaded REALLY high fat/protein/veggies. I was STUFFED to the brim. And it was delicious (we were at a 5 star hotel) And I gained only .8, if that (didn't weigh right before we left). So had I been on non-loading vacation, ate, say, half as much, and split desserts with my hubby (but not every day/meal), I can guarantee you I would not have gained an ounce! |

I'm down to 197.4 today... We went out to lunch after church today. I got a sirloin steak and lettuce. I had my water and coffee. I have my fingers crossed that I still lose tomorrow. I have never eaten out while on p2.

@Buttah, thanks for your perspective on vacations and the hunger scale.
I'm going through WLA now. I've said it before (somewhere - where, I dunno) that all through my life I never got the "signal" of hunger before. Seriously. I read about that once, (I DIDN'T KNOW I WAS MISSING IT) after I took phen-fen, and was reading some studies. I could go right past "hungry" to fainting because I never felt it. So as a CHILD I would just eat when mom said it was time to eat. Mom at the time was skinny, we ate good food and no snacks. I am not sure where the actual eating dysfunction actually happened to me. Maybe it was with fear/fear of abuse/scary stuff happening where I subconsciously decided I needed to be fat. I am not sure to this day. I know carbs have been a problem my whole life. I know when I began actually dieting my freshman year in high school I surely didn't need to do it at all - goodness I wish I was that weight now that I thought was so fat! BUT Twiggy was the prominent figure in my psyche and I wanted to be like her. Then quickly came the anorexia and bulemia. I threw everything off in my body. THEN the gains came. And I can honestly say now I have received some level of healing in my body due to hcg (and to a lesser extent, JUDDD) whereby I am able to ascertain what hunger even means. So I said all that to say, some of us really do not know what hunger even means. It isn't necessarily that we are so lazy like heavier people are characterized as (and I know you're not putting anyone down) or can't stand the empty feeling at all so we just keep eating. But really for me, honestly, I would look at food and the only time I actually felt to STOP eating was by the time I was Thanksgiving-day full. Unless I watched other people eat and just ate what I was served as a child, and stopped when everyone else did. And like I said, I could go from a feeling of nothing to "whoa, why did I pass out" way beyond hunger. Obviously my hormonal leptin/ghrelin signals were WAY off and I do not know why they were. On my European vacation after my first 2 rounds of hcg, I maintained absolutely perfectly doing exactly what you said in your post above. YES, I took my scale in my luggage. I weighed every day because I was utterly scared to death to gain the 55 pounds I had lost by then back. The only time I faltered was when I was in Disney Paris and for time's saving sake I had way too many carbs and my insulin responses became whack-a-doo - that was at the very end of vacay, thankfully, and so by the time I got home, even with the airplane bloat (I get it bad-feet and lower legs swell) I was up 6 pounds but lost it in 2 days once home. *WHEW* so I know I CAN do it. With menohell now I am trying to re-learn how to handle this new stage of my body but I will succeed.

C'Marie, how difficult that must have been for you - to be truly out of touch with your hunger signals like that. And I think it's probably way more common than we think. I'm trying so hard to teach my sons (well, one is in college, but he seems to come by "eating to hunger" naturally) to honor their hunger AND that feeling of satiety before stuffed. And maybe there is some kind of scientific "syndrome" where people really don't have a sense of hunger or fullness - it wouldn't surprise me (after all, there are people who don't recognize faces, who remember every single day in detail, and all kinds of other "weird" "sense" stuff.
But I suspect a lot of it comes from how we're "raised" with regard to food, don't you? So many parents told us to "finish our plate" and/or "rewarded us" with food treats and all that nonsense. I'm grateful mine didn't. There are a lot of good books on "intuitive eating." In fact, I think that's the title of one of them - they sort of pick up where Robin leaves off. Although Robin does have some good tips about how to really live by the hunger scale and avoid emotional eating in her book, they're hard to find with all the Leptin science. I've posted the excerpts about P3 and stabilizing that are most relevant to learning and living what we should have begun to learn in P2... but honestly, a lot of people didn't want to hear it. And I get it - it's hard to trust hunger. Some people really want to know how much they "should" eat and that's just that for them. Good for you that you've survived vacations! You've gotta be doing something right to have lost all this weight and be keeping it off. Last edited by buttah; 01-13-2013 at 07:00 PM.. |

Ya, I remember feeling hungry - then feeling full - for the first time after taking phen-fen, but it didn't last. It was like "Oh, this is what it's supposed to feel like!" it was weird. I remember my mother in law, bless her heart, would say things like, "I just stop when I'm full." or, "my throat just closes and I can't eat anymore. Doesn't that happen to you?" and she's the sweetest person in the world and wouldn't say anything mean, ever, but I truly didn't know what she was talking about!
I didn't get rewarded with food, as far as I can remember, but I was of the generation that had to finish their plate, and especially their vegetables! LOL I would hide them in my milk or feed them to my dog! After doing hcg, I then could understand it even better and more of it has stuck. I sure like the JUDDD motto "hunger is not an emergency" because it's true now for me. Although if I go waaaay too long without something I get a migraine, but my food-hunger-balance is much better and the hypoglycemia is pretty much non-existent. God Bless Dr. Simeons. I'd love to kiss his big old bald head. Last edited by C'Marie; 01-13-2013 at 07:16 PM.. |

PS I just read serving sizes to keep in tune with what I'm "supposed" to eat. At least that's one clue! LOL and in restaurants usually I just ask for a to-go container and right away peel off some of the food and get it to go because restaurant portions are crazy big.

Morning ! R4P2D9 & down -.08 to 131.6 which puts me -.06 over my vacation pre-weight & close to my first goal. Now just need to get to last ldw 129.2 for 2nd goal. After that we will see.
Like I posted on the other P2 thread this round is hard. It's not like I want to over eat or even cheat I am just tired mentally. I want to get on with it and go back to P3/P4 and healthy eating & exercise. I just keep telling myself just 2 more weeks and you are done ! Now I do know how to read when my body is truly done (last round I knew to the day when it was time to call it in) so I'm not there today. |

Morning ! R4P2D10 & down 1.0 to 130.6
Here is a funny vivid dream that I thought you guys would get a kick out of. Had one of my vivid HCG dreams. Normally I rarely dream & only tend to have them while pregnant or on HCG. So : JLO and I were sisters & we're competing for the same hot guy who is dating her but secretly in love with me the serious but also equally hot sister. I swear it was a bad romantic comedy but in 3D. I woke up totally convinced it was real. I also woke up before he could break up with JLO but he had realized I was his real love ![]() Last edited by pandora174; 01-15-2013 at 04:42 AM.. |

Thank you Shelby!! I've spent my childhood, teen years and almost all of my 20's overweight. I won't let it hold me down anymore! I believe I will be at my goal this year! Which excites me so much. I still can't get over the fact that I'm under 200lbs now!!

I made a yummy treat! It's not Dr S approved but I eat coconut oil on p2. I got my melba toast added coconut oil, stevia and cinnamon to it. I put it in the microwave for 5 seconds. It was soooooo good. Like cinnamon toast crunch or a cinnamon roll. Yum!
