I am out of my window!! Seems to be a trend, huh?? LOL. I am on JUDDD and my UDs are so great!! I had my DD yesterday and weighed in this morning more than when I started out on JUDDD. Not too scared because I know it will work itself back down if I stick to the JUDDD rotations. Going out to lunch today with my DH on a date!!!! I don't have work, he is off for the federal holiday, and the kids have school. That rarely happens, so we are taking advantage of the alone time.
buttah--you are so right about Thanksgiving. I have done them on P2 and was quite pleased with myself. It was practically the first time I was not as stuffed as the turkey LOL. And what a nice feeling too. My whole family wanted to sleep after dinner, and I was feeling just fine. We always have enough leftovers to have Thanksgiving dinner for days afterwards that we don't have to eat it all in one day. I think we may need to post this a few times here so I can have it sink in "for me". I know that if I see something a few times, then I can do it.

I'm right there with you sista! Yep, carpooling sounds good for Spring in Palm Springs Quote:

Like many here, I'm up today! BUt, I totally earned it!! I was up yesterday after a nacho debacle Sat. night and dh took us to our favorite Chinese place - we usually only go on NYE. Anyway, chicken/broc and shrimp fried rice, on top of already being up, not a pretty picture. And, I did a "I"ll be up anyway, might as well have a bit of chocolate" rationalization last night, landing me WAY up today!! w. myself. Gotta' wrap my head around this sense of indulgence/entitlement and refind my happiness at being just "satisfied" and "content" w. just a bite here and there. Hopefully I can find it again b/4 I leave for vaca on Wed.! I need to remember that a bite or 2 of formerly off-plan items is a great indulgence and be happy w. that. I need to not eat the whole portion and feel justified since "everyone else is doing it". Working through that today. So, I'm doing a GYCD. Didn't get to do it yesterday so I'll eat up my expired GY and hope for a nice drop tomorrow. I'd be surprised if I'm not down. But, I'll be LC the next few days and will do a carb cycling approach on vaca. There'll be days when it's easy to stay LC and some where it'll be too hard. Hope it'll work well

@Buttah, you're right..... I have done Thanksgiving completely in control, not on P2 but just in control and did great. I will save calories for a little wine, too. I enjoy the time with the family and it's not about the food. Thanks for the reminder. AND I GOT THE DRESS - for $35.... no kidding. I look pretty good in it, too.
@Dawn, when you started JUDDD did you incorporate starches right away? If so that might be why you are up? maybe? @Lara, Julie! YAY! Palm Springs, BABY! I would consider Vegas but I really don't like the atmosphere there... been there a couple times and I always wanted to go to Palm Springs. Hoping I can land us a decent condo soon. Those are the dates, I can't come before that (taxes) and after that is my DD birthday. Feel free to come for the weekend, or a long weekend, no problem. @Reddy, you will get it under control again - so will all of us. It's why we are here for each other

C'Marie~ I totally know what you mean I was watching this show last night about the police on the Vegas strip and the lifestyle. wow, it's a crazy place... not the same place I grew up around, its very different now.
So yes Palm Springs sounds fun! I think I went there once but it was at night and I don't really remember anything about it at all. Hope there's good bars and restaurants... etc. yay Julie! Ok so time for my cheese break... making chili for dinner I think.. and maybe a chili cheese smothered hamburger patty yum.

Hi guys! I don't think it's at ALL unusual to start the week out up. For me anyway, I find the weekends, the time when I socialize (i.e. drink booze) or eat out, almost always cause a gain, usually water weight related from added carbs or alcohol. One of the reasons that I always have baked chicken thighs on hand for my handy-dandy Monday cd!
As for me, I'm starting the week tired again, even thogh temps have been nice and steady in the normal range the last few days. At least it was a nice weekend, with some serious girl-time Saturday and some "boy" time last night! And speaking of, I am up 3 pounds after an indulgent day yesterday which included Souplantation (aka Sweet Tomatoes), a run in with some almond butter mid-afternoon, and a few potatoes with a late dinner last night. I also had a REALLY deep-tissue massage yesterday and WHOO nelly am I sore! Funny how a massage can make you more sore than when you started. Although, I must be a masochist 'cuz I kinda like it... ![]() So today is a proper chicken thigh cd. Just had two for lunch and I'm going to try to keep myself busy enough this evening to have a single one for dinner. Probably won't be an issue as when I am tired I seem to be getting more and more nauseated these days. Feels like a hangover even though I didn't drink anything last night... I need a new Bluetooth--dropped mine somewhere Saturday night--and I probably should get in some exercise this evening as well, so that will keep me away from home and/or out of the kitchen for a good part of the evening. If I can row for 20-30 minutes I KNOW it will make me feel better (or at least less guilty!). Exercise when I'm already tired is kind of like pulling teeth for me! ![]() Anyway, shout outs to all ma peeps, Dawn, Marie, Julie, Lara, Reddy, buttah, cocoa, misslatte, Shrinking, Angela, junkn, and anyone I missed! so sorry!...personals maybe tomorrow? Too tired right this second... ![]()

So, for me, really helps not to assign some magical power to any 24 hour period. I know Simeons gets us thinking that way (for so many reasons I won't even list them, but I'm sure everyone knows what I mean), but I believe it's actually one of the pitfalls of HCG "thinking" that we have to try to caution ourselves against. Lest we want to live on a roller coaster of correction days and indulgence days. Which, if that's what works for you - try JUDDD, you might love it. My opinion, anyway.

For those interested, my clinic has a very gradual and specific way to ramp in carbs (net carb servings and what they consist of, gradually rising) in P4. If anyone would like, I can type it up. I haven't followed it to the letter, but I've had far less carbs than it allows so far.

Buttah!! I would appreciate the info you have on P4 as I'm nearing the end of a successful P3
I have to say everyone's help has been awesome! I was so worried about maintaining but have had success so far because I'm benefitting from all the experience on here. I work with a lady who laughs at anyone losing weight because she is convinced we all gain it back. I might as well tell you all I work in a Plus sized clothing store. We see many women who lose weight and many others who gain it all back. She is almost enough motivation to keep this weight off!!! I'd love nothing more than to prove a nasty know-it-all wrong! I took the job for the reason that I wanted nice clothes and a discount on new ones that fit me while losing weight. I no longer fit 98% of the clothes there. I think I will stick around a while longer just show that it will stay off. I mean it does work and she can't always assume if we don't see the ones who have lost weight anymore that they've left town, maybe they kept it off!!! Ok that was a bit of a rant, sorry. I just get tired of the negativity. Half the girls I work with are trying HCG and I will help them succeed too. We can be the Shrinking team, haha! Well I have managed to keep out of trouble going out to the movies with my family. I snacked on a couple of sugar free candies and two bottles of water. No popcorn!!! I'm at the correct weight still and owe it to all of you! Thanks everyone!! |

hi... I'm down 1.4 this am from my meaty day. Not bad for eating all that I did. I was full and happy.
I had a 3 egg omlet with cheddar, laughing cow cheese, chili with a hamburger patty and cheese, iceberg lettuce with blue cheese, two hard boiled eggs and some roasted chicken with brie... ![]() I was worried about the roasted chicken cuz it was from walmart. The meat tasted like it was injected with garlic and chemicals. It was very moist, too moist in fact... Have a good day all!! Lara |

How 'bout a picture? That's not fair teasing us!! We did Vegas a few years ago w. dh and our friends. It's ok, but I think it's not really my scene these days! I have a timeshare and can look into condos in PS too. There's always availability there - several nice Marriott options. I'll be driving right through there tomorrow!! Quote:
, but I'm not sure about "night life" these days. I think of it as a kinda' snowbird hangout, but maybe there's another side I don't know of. It's been YEARS since I stayed there!!Quote:
And yes, Monday is usually a day to correct for me!! ![]() Quote:
I know, and get what you're saying. But, for me, the daily weighing helps me remember that EVERY DAY does matter. Just like you said. It's not the "almighty scale" but the reminder that if I don't watch it, that # will stick. True fat doesn't show up on the scale the next day, ITA!! But, when I'm off plan, overeating etc. if I don't weigh and ignore the scale, and don't reign it back in, I'll keep gaining and it WILL become real fat. I hope I don't do a CD lifestyle (they're not as helpful for me as clean eating anyway), but like naturally thin people do, doing a light day after a heavy day is key to successful lifetime maintenance. However you look at it- scale, Simeons, intuitive eating, hunger scale, etc-if you overdo it at 1 meal, day, you can "defeed", correct, lighten it up the next opportunity to stay stable. I think most successful plans have the same idea. You can't indulge at every meal, every day and expect to keep the weight off. You can have half a brownie, a few bites of dh's fries, etc. and maintain quite happily. Quote:
I'd join Team Shrinking!! . It's a sad statistic, but we all understand how easy that would be to do! Maintenance is as much work as losing the weight. You can do it!! You're doing great and will continue to succeed as you stay in control!! I'm finishing my packing, cleaning, preparation!! I'm still up today, but I'll LC and am sure it'll work back off. I did a GYCD yesterday and lost less than 2lbs. It just doesn't really work for me anymore (CDs I mean). I really only did it to use up my GY (and I love it). But, I'll stick w. clean LC today and suspect I'll be back to my normal "146" soon enough. Not sweating it, not a change in lifestyle. But balancing indulgence and healthy "normal" eating I'll be popping in when I can from Ca. I'm not bringing my laptop but will try to post from my phone. You know how that goes! ![]() Last edited by julieboolie; 11-13-2012 at 06:44 AM.. Reason: typos! |

We are indeed saying the same thing, Julie.
Shrinking, congrats on your loss. They're not going to want you around in that store for long! As for what your coworker said, how incredibly rude of her to say it to someone who is working so hard on their issues - but we've all seen what she's talking about. Over the years (and the older I get, the more of them), we've known several obese people (and just overweight people) lose the weight only to gain it back. Men and women. It's disheartening, to say the least. It may have even been the subconscious reason I didn't really work on my weight until recently. ( I gained from pregnancies and just kind of stayed here... until now.) But we've also known a couple who've kept it off. One is a woman who was morbidly obese, finally lost the weight for health reasons more than anything (it's weird how that takes center stage after 45-50), and she's been a normal weight for about 8 years now. I'd bet a million dollars she's done for good. I really think it boils down to deep and permanent lifestyle changes, and that is the hardest part. For most, just too hard. But not for us! So for some reason I just can't seem to get it together. I keep saying I'll do a clean no carb day and somehow the carbs creep in. Why haven't I tossed out the halloween candy yet? It's awful for me. I even cracked a crown on a gobstopper!
![]() Past 3 days I've been sitting at 2lbs OVER window which I do not like. That means i'm at 160 and I do NOT want to see that. I want to be in the 150's. SO today I will do everything in my power to stay on track, especially b/c I'm attending to girls nights this week which means drinks. I don't get why it's so hard for me suddenly. It's amazing how slippery that slope really is. As soon as you start to fall, getting back on is always such a challenge. But at least I'm weighing and I'm aware of it before it gets totally out of control! Right? Right. Hope you're all doing wonderful. |

Hi Redd! Sorry you're struggling. If it helps at all, my clinic's advice on refined sugar (not carbs - there they have allowances) is:
"Sugar is just in moderation. We suggest avoiding it except for special occasions." I have come to the realization that this is the only way to stay thin forever. And I'm fine with it. Special, planned (as far as the rest of the day with regard to carbs and calories) and in moderation on special occasions, or gain. The only exception that has worked for some is JUDDD, where many people seem to have desert on every single UD. |

to Reddy and anyone else struggling!! Carbs are tough to work back into our healthier lives. For some reason my body does better w. sugar than starch nowadays. Choc., froyo, fruits and even a bit of custard/gelato work better for me than starches-baked goods, fries etc. Not sure why? But I'm happy w. it Gotta' hit the road. Didn't sleep well, got up at 5! TOM is 4 days late just what I wanted to take along on vacation!! Scale up a bit, but btw. late TOM and early weighing not worried about it! Stressful day yesterday - packing, cleaning, running last minute insane errands for my self-absorbed mom!! And, the topper? My garage fridge died - which I discovered around 4:15PM yesterday - as I was rounding up the girls for their respective volleyball practices. Lost about $100 worth of GF frozen chicken nuggets, waffles and gogurts, etc!! My neighbor let me "borrow" her deep freezer for my pork roasts, turkey and cool whips (which seemed frozen enough to survive) but it was a fiasco of trying to get in through her garage w. the wrong code!! All is settled now, but I could have exploded from the stress yesterday evening!! I soooo need a vacation!! ![]() All that to say, have a great week ladies. Enjoy your Thanksgiving celebrations and be diligent on the scale. Don't miss living life though. You've all worked so hard to be where you are. Stay focused, but enjoy yourselves too!! ![]() Got the car 90% packed, showered, waiting for the rest of the fam to wake up. Tomorrow I'll be at the "Happiest Place on Earth" - Can't wait!! ![]() |

Okay, for those who wanted it, here's what my clinic/doc provides in terms of P4 (which they call "maintenance") and starch guidelines. I think it underscores the fact that once we've lost pounds on HCG or any other WOE, there is never EVER going to be a starch free-for-all without consequences in our ability to maintain.
After this, the sheet gives a long and specific list of carb servings in chart form (so it's hard to cut and paste), but the 15 net grams (you can subtract fiber) pretty much tells you what you need to know. Note that carbs from non-starchy veggies are not included in the 15 net grams - that's just breads, pastas, crackers, corn, potatoes, yams, beans, etc.: Quote:

Inching back down the scale today from my weekend indulgences. A little over my adjusted window but there's that ring sliding around thing happening today so I should see something nice tomorrow on the scale. If not, I may do a cd--or I may not. I'm just happily cruising along right around where I want and need to be so it's all good. Hope all is well and Julie that your drive is going well!

Nice to hear about the losses and stay strong through the setbacks!
I had a great day today. Met up with a friend from out of town for coffee ( she had a donut and i had my black/decaf) and another I hadn't seen in a while. I've not seen a whole lot of movement on the scale and feel like any day now the joke will be on me and it will begin climbing. I'm so used to my weight fluctuating by 5lbs/day before hcg that this staying the same is just weird! I know it's supposed to do that, but all the same, it's weird! C'Marie! Don't be stressed!!! Go shopping! Retail therapy is the best!!! Buttah! Thank you very much for that info on P4. I think I'm going to be ready for it next week, or is that this week? I should check, LOL! I have to admit the idea of adding starches gives me a tiny bit of panic! I will be very, very careful. |

Yep, it totally is like heroin. I indulged during my two-day company off-site on Monday and Tuesday and felt the cravings and calls for more! I would have SO eaten the whole tray of brownies (but I didn't). Coming down from that is a bit of a doozy but I'm doing it. I'm totally motivated by the fact that I feel like I'm coming out of my clothes..hate that
During the off-site, I also discovered that I am in fact sensitive to gluten..though the intensity of the effects depends on the amount I consume. I ate probably the same amount of it as everyone else and was sleepy, bloated and gassy, stomach hurting, a little nauseous, etc. When I ate more of it I felt like I had allergies (itchy eyes, a little sniffly, pressure headache)! And I definitely don't have that happen when I eat rice or potatoes, even if it's a lot. It's so weird to me because I've eaten it for most of my life but now it's like I can't eat it anymore unless it's like one small thing.. Don't know whether to feel happy or sad? Maybe just neutral. So I promised myself to be primarily gluten free and mostly sugar free from now on, because Monday and Tuesday night's suffering was SO not worth it!! And sugar-free definitely does not include SF Oreos, because I threw that in out of curiosity (never really had maltitol before) on Tuesday night and dearly paid for it all night..lol. Maltitol, wheat, probably corn syrup, other random chemicals...I feel like I'm getting over a cold or something. Experiments..sheesh! Haven't weighed but really want to feel like myself again, so am low-carb/FFing my way back down. I'll get there! And that's my crazy check in. So glad that many of you are doing so well! And for those of you that aren't: ![]()
