Need Help with P3!
I just joined the forum and it's been great reading previous posts. It's my second week of P3 and so far maintenance has been ok. The first week, my LIW dropped one pound for a few days, then stabilized for the next week and a half. Today I gained one pound and I'm wondering what I may have done wrong (though I might have an idea).
![]() For the past two days I ate Ezequiel bread (2 slices per day) and today the scale showed a gain of one pound. I'm so confused with P3: I understand there are to be no sugar or starch, but I have read that the body metabolizes Ezequiel bread as a vegetable since it is flourless and comes from sprouted grains. Also, I have read in internet posts that it is ok to continue with Melba toasts during P3 so your body doesn't go into shock when more starches are introduced in P4. Is this true?? Any help anyone can give would be great! I've invested too much time and money in doing the protocol to mess it up at this point. Last edited by Lisa P.; 10-29-2012 at 07:48 PM.. |

Nope, drop all starches, especially Melba and Ezekiel bread. You'll be ok. You will re-introduce them s l o w l y after you hit P4.
Read all the P3 tips/tricks, my biggest tip is continue all the water you were drinking before, and go easy on nuts/cheeses until several days later. Get stable first. Good job getting through the protocol, and for coming to ask for help! Last edited by C'Marie; 10-29-2012 at 09:49 PM.. |

Thanks!
To C'Marie, thanks for taking the time to answer my question! I will drop ALL starches and as you said, slowly re-introduce them in P4. This forum has been a great find! Reading through everyone else's experiences has been so, so helpful. Thanks again!

to the boards! Congrats on your first round!Yes, drop the bread, and any types of starches. It's hard, but only for 3 weeks. You were doing so well below LDW, so you probably have some wiggle room. Do nice clean P3 eating (check out our monthly P3 thread) and you'll be right back down. It is hard, but I think P3 is the most important part of the protocol. If you can really, truly lock in your loss you'll be set up for long term success! ![]() |

Thankful!
Thanks for the feedback and the words of encouragement, Julie! I'm excited that so far my body has responded well to the protocol and really don't want to jeopardize results. I will check out the P3 thread to keep learning do's and don'ts from others' experiences. Many, many thanks to all who have shared their experience!

Hi Lisa! Hopefully you weren't affected by that storm!
One thing I want to suggest is to make sure you're still getting your water - it seems that as soon as P2 is over my amount of water consumed decreases. Keep that up! |

I want to second what the other ladies said. Get plenty of water, just like on protocal. Cut all starches even the ones allowed in P2. Watch the nuts (especially peanuts which are actually legumes and not allowed in P3). Be careful with dairy. Use it sparingly. I also had the most success stabilizing when I stuck with lower carb fruits like strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries. Lastly, get plenty of good fats. You'll do great!
