Friend on hcg for 8 months straight!

What are the negative effects of this? I told her she will never stabilize because her body is so used to the hcg. I feel I can't be supportive of her anymore

You should ask Angela. She has been doing the hcg for a long time. I feel it isn't good because your body can get used to the hcg as you said. It won't know how to handle all the food once you start eating "normal" again. Even P3 foods would be a shock to the system. Just do the best you can with her. Do not say "I told you so" as much as you want to. I know I would want to LOL. Just be there for her if she needs a shoulder is all you can do.

Yea, that's what I've done. She asked me again today what she should do because she wants to lose ten more, but I just said you know how I feel.

I'll have to report back what happens.

Please do. It would take me forever to lose that last 10 pounds. She has already done it for 8 months. Her body may not give it up. She needs a break. Tell her your low carb friend told you to tell her that! I cannot wait to hear what she decides to do.

Hi Sas

I have been on the hHCG for a while...since March 20th...so 7 months tomorrow! I do not know what negative effects that she may have. Has she done them continuously...meaning NO P3's or PI's? I have done 4 or 5 "breaks" to load up on fats, etc. In fact, I just ended a 13 day PI yesterday (my P3's usually turn into PI's...lol)

This is the first time on hHCG, so I have not dealt with stabilization. I do know that the hardest part is before me...stabilization/maintenance. I lose weight well, but I tend to fall into bad eating habits afterwards...no matter which weight loss program I use.

I have gained a LOT of personal knowledge, inspiration, strength, etc. from this course of hHCG. And it is mental...I may need to see a shrink after it's over...just kidding, I think I will be successful...having been at goal once, and then re-gaining, and getting to goal again has really opened my eyes. My view of food is no longer the same. I guess I had this fear that if I didn't eat it when it was there...I might not ever get it. Also, I have found so many wonderful recipes which can be used to accommodate a lot of unhealthy cravings...which are "legal" for us!

I have talked with others who did "cycling" hHCG, and many have lost a lot of weight AND maintained over the years. It really is a YMMV thing. As far as the body not used to hHCG...I don't know. HCG is not bad for you...it floats around your system while pregnant...if so, I would assume women who have a "million" babies...would show some form of effects.

All in all, I would just continue doing what you do for her and let her deal with the outcome. I have 12.6 lbs. to go...it will be hHCG until I get there...so I can relate with her continuing for the long haul!!!

Sorry I wasn't much help!

TTYL

Of course you're a help! She has lost 35 lbs and I know she is making better choices now. She is so afraid to put the weight back on and I think that is why she is hesitant to stop the hCG. I will continue to support her, but if she keeps asking me whether or not she should stay on hcg I will tell her no. We need to learn how to eat and maintain without any help at some point.

I'm so glad that you put this thread up here. I shouldn't have started my current round because I have several events coming up that will necessitate PI's. because of that I am going to have to extend R2 to be 83 days. This will be necessary if I am going to get in a full three weeks of p3. I'm so glad to hear it is working well for crazy prek.

Sas, your friend hasn't lost much considering she's been on hcg for 8 months. In her case she doesn't have much more to go so I guess that's why. She has averaged only 4 lbs a month. I would never have stayed on such a restrictive diet for that long with those results. She must have endured huge stalls.

There are probably a lot of other more enjoyable ways to lose an average pound a week.

I listen to Colin Watson's "Body For Life" podcast. He advocates staying on the protocol as long as you need to. I never heard of anyone staying on hcg for 8 months before, but there have been many people calling in that have been on it for several months straight. I remember one that was on it for 6 months with excellent losses ( a man, of course). I don't know how they did during maintenance.

What I do know is that Dr. Simeon limited the rounds to somewhere in the 40 days even if you had a lot to lose, and hhcg has a limit of 60 days for extremely obese individuals.

I have a question about planned interruptions. I will be on p2 for 31 days and then i will take about a 10 day break and then back to p2. I will only be on p2 for 15 days and then I will need to take another PI.

Is that okay? Do most of you cyclers do another full three weeks before a planned interruption?

Felina--I am glad you pointed that out. I was thinking the same thing this morning. That doesn't seem like a lot of weight lost in 8 months, for hcg. I certainly would have broken sooner than that. I cannot imagine being on a restrictive diet for that long. I can hardly last the 21 days. Is she rogue SAS? I bet she is! Or at least goes with interruptions? I would hope so.

Felina--I have no answers to your question about cycling. I never did that on any round. I am sure that Angela will come back in and post her experience about it. If not, them PM her.

I have always returned to P2 from PI's doing much longer than 15 days, so I honestly don't know. But I have heard that as long as you've completed the "required" 21 days of being on the HCG first, then you can PI...and return to do whatever "X" amount of days to finish up a round. Soooo...I assume 15 days more would be okay! Are you planning on returning to HCG after the NEXT PI? Or gonna go on to P3 at that time?

Just an FYI on the PI's........
I find it VERY DIFFICULT to focus and "re-group" after a PI. It takes a lot of mind-set work for me to get back into the protocol. I would say it takes me a good 2-3 days before I am not "picking" at stuff, and NOT continuously thinking about food. When I am on P3/PI...I have to really concentrate on eating such as getting in high fats, adding in breakfast, eating some craved P3 foods, etc. By the time P3 is over for me...I am enjoying regular eating again and I feel like I want to continue that way on P2.

Hope this helps a little!!!

After my 2nd PI, I plan to go back to p2 (cuz I'm certain that I will have gained a ton of weight. We're going on a cruise). After the cruise I will be able to stay on P2 for as long as I need to.

That's my plan anyway. I hope I can do it. This is my 4th round and I know that in the past when I come off of P2 and start P3, I am so thankful to be able to enjoy my coffee and my meals once again. I really like low carb eating and consider it normal. I never have had a problem maintaining on it. But, since I will not be able to do a full 3 weeks of it I am forced to do the planned interruption and then back to P2.

Angela, you must have amazing willpower. Your losses are encouraging though.
Thanks for your help.

I'm sure this friend has just cheated several times and used the hcg to maintain or lose 5 lbs over and over again. I don't really know for sure.

i have been on hhcg for almost 4 months. i never lost the pounds like everyone does on it. i started at 134 and am now at 108.6. i average about a pound a week now. and i have ONLY 3.6 MORE to lose TIL GOAL! haha

anyways, i did a fat fast 2 or 3 times to break a stall. i have cream in my coffee. so yeah, i'm a little rogue.

i also had one interruption.

i'm looking forward to P3 and perhaps JUUDD to maintain.

this has been my first and only round.

That's what I don't get. I lost the first 75 pounds in 3 rounds, done to protocol, with required breaks in between. It took me just 8 months. I could never have stayed on it all that time with the same weight loss. That would've driven me insane. I desperately needed the breaks and the "practice" at maintaining to see that I could. Otherwise I feel I would've gotten to the end and completely lost it and started gaining. But having the breaks, gave my body time to rest, skin to shrink, my mind to re-set itself, and gain confidence in my ability to maintain. Those who stay on seemingly forever - WOW is all I have to say. I couldn't do it. It seems to be just as effective to do it by the book and get the breaks.

What I advise everyone who is anxious about starting P3 is this: the protocol has gotten you this far. It made you lose fat. If you trust the protocol works, then you know that P3 will work. You will not gain, and if you do Dr Simeons' has provided a way out!! You have to trust in the entire process, as this is a process and not a diet. You follow one part and then the next and the next. If you don't you WILL gain it all back, but if you follow the rules you will keep it off!! She is not following the rules therefore she will in all likelihood gain it back. And even timing of the protocol is crucial. So I hope she realizes that she needs to take a break.
