breastfeeding and hcg

Hi all. This will be my second time starting this protocol. I did it for 18 days and lost 17 pounds. I ended at 165 and only gained 2 pounds back. This time I hope to be wiser about my sanity and hopefully will not fall off th wagon.

On load day 2 today. Not feeling all the fatty foods but i know its necessary. I will buy all chicken breast, fish and shrimp this time. Beef doesnt help lose as much and i will have it occasionally. I will stick to cucumbers celery, romaine and kale. Keeping it simple is better. I did discover la croix drinks for an occasional "soda" and will experiment with that. Fenugreek and mothers milk will be taken as well for milk production. 850-900calories will be consumed to keep up milk. I learned if you less you produce less and dnt lose as much. NEED FRIENDS THAT WANT TO LOSE!! Wish me luck!

Hi, I'm trying to lose weight while breastfeeding as well. How many carbs do you seem to need without it affecting your supply. I waited to start until a week ago and now my milk is declining. I'm eating 50 grams and losing weight, but losing milk. I want to nurse my child, but I'm so tired of being fat with nothing to wear. None of my pre-pregnancy clothes fit.

Not really counting the carbs with the hcg. I am increasing the protein and water. Now last time i did it i ended up doing a refeed after 10days. I gained a pound but increased my milk. I also took fenugreek and mothers milk 3times a day. Lost 17 in 2.5 weeks though. Just pump more often; thats what im planning to do. We will have to see. Why dont u try the hcg?

Make sure you discuss this with your doctor! No one can be sure how lowcarb diets can affect your milk. They say nursing your child is not a time to diet. Usually women lose weight while breastfeeding anyway and if you diet you may only lose a few extra pounds.. Not worth sacrificing your breast milks nutrition for a couple of pounds. Besides, you will be able to nurse longer thus lose weight naturally for a longer period of time.. Do what is best for your baby. When I had my youngest I nursed him and at my 6 week checkup lost 45 pounds from the day I had him.. Pretty good considering I only gained 23 pounds while pregnant. It was because I was nursing a lot. I stopped when he was 4 months old.. I regret that because I probably would of lost a lot more. I at least should of pumped. If your milk supply is down you should talk to your physician or a nutritionist.

I would not try hcg while nursing.. you already have that naturally when you are breastfeeding.

i feel your pain! i wanted so bad to fit into my clothes and be skinny.

i breastfed all 3 of my kids for 1-2 years each. as much as i wanted to be thin, i wanted the closeness/bonding/health benefits for my baby more.

enjoy the time you have with them and can breastfeed them for as long as you can. you can't get that time back when you stop but you can ALWAYS lose weight

hang in there.

Unfortunately not all women lose weight while breastfeeding. I gained weight!! I was so unhappy with my body but I knew nursing him was the most important thing. I personally would not do HCG while nursing b/c I believe that you need a lot more than 500 or even 1000 calories a day to not only keep up your supply but to make sure baby is getting good fat content in the milk for his/ her health. I'm not knocking those who chose to do this, I just don't think I would.

That said, I 10000% percent understand wanting to lose the weight. I've never had such a hard time in my life. It took me a YEAR to get it off and my body still doesn't look the same. I didn't start dieting though until I stopped nursing and that was at 6 months pp. I would have gone longer but I had major issues and had to stop.

Curious, Listentume, when you did HCG last time were you also nursing or was that pre pregnancy?

Anyway, best of luck to the mamas looking to lose. Hope it all works well for you!

Breastfeeding and hCG is a major no-no. You shed high quantities of toxins stored in your adipocytes, along with the fat, and your body produces all sorts of byproducts and hormones that you simply do not want ending up in your milk. Additionally, it would be murder on your supply. Low carb ad libitum (to your hunger) can often work out fine, though do watch and see if it makes your supply drop. But hCG is completely off limits during nursing. Save it until after weaning and you should be fine.

Hi Taryl! How are you feeling?? How far along are you now?

I am glad you posted bc I was thinking that the hormones from HCG would get into milk and be bad for baby but I wasn't certain! Glad to confirm that.

Hope you're doing well!

The hCG itself isn't bad for the baby, though it can stimulate changes in the progesterone that can be detrimental to milk supply. It's really the pesticides, proteins, and cellular waste products that are shed along with fat excretion during weight loss that are the major issue (and hCG is SO effective at doing this, the load going through one's system and being excreted into milk is dangerously high for a baby). This protocol is really only appropriate for reasonably healthy folks, not this with conditions exacerbated by massive metabolic shifts, nursing, or pregnancy.

As for me, I'm doing okay. My weight bounced back up to the previous round's level, thanks to never stabilizing during my last round with the pregnancy and all. But I'm at the beginning of my second trimester, otherwise healthy, finding I have more energy again, and managing life decently, if not excellently. Right now my big challenge is getting back on the strict food bandwagon since my morning sickness has abated. I enjoyed myself quite much in satisfying cravings, but now it's time to be an adult and eat my steak and veggies again

That makes sense. That it's not necessarily the HCG but what is being let out of your body that could be harmful. But I'd wonder if the hormones from the HCG are transferred into the milk at all?

Glad to hear you are doing ok and that you are not longer dealing with Morning Sickness! I think it's expected that you're going to gain some with pregnancy and to a degree you have to give into those cravings. But as long as you make smart choices over all, you'll be fine. And you can always come back to HCG later. (I know I will after my next pregnancy!!)

Is this why I broke out horribly when I did my first round? All those toxins were released into my system?

Yup. I call it "detox". That is what happens to me whenever I return to doing a round of hcg. When I load I eat tons of sugar and in order for my body to get rid of it, it has to go somewhere! The only time my face breaks out now is when I am on a round--detoxing from the sugar.

Others that complain about the rash they get---detox. From the very same. Your toxins are being released from the cells in your body. Has to come out somehow. Some of us get rashes, acne, or even sore throats and cold like symptoms. That is why when some complain of a cold they blame the hcg. It is not the hcg, but rather the detox the hcg is causing.
