two questions about common "updated" clinic-run protocols
Out of curiosity, I've researched many HCG clinics' version of Simeons protocol, avoiding those that throw it out all together, advising tons more calories, etc.
BUT there are a number of clinics that stick with 500 calories, while adjusting protein intake, measuring protein by calories, not ounces, or allowing for some sort of "breakfast," and eliminating the grissini/melba (which frankly makes TONS of sense to me, since those are empty useless calories based on the outdated food nutritional pyramid - I also suspect Dr. S had them in there for psychological reasons.) I even noticed on the HCG website of "Dr. Emma," the doc who appeared with Dr. Oz on his HCG segment, she says she uses an "updated/modernized" 500 calorie protocol she claims to have researched, but does not say what it is. So my questions are these, for anyone who may have encountered one of these clinics: What do they replace the grissini/melba calories with? Is it protein calories? I would so much rather have a bit of extra protein! What is the "breakfast?" I know I can portion out some of my meat protein for breakfast, but I would do so much better with even a 1/4 cup of FF cottage cheese or something more "breakfasty."
