"true weight" concept?

Have any of you checked out the dukan diet site to find your "true weight"? I stumbled across the reference to that site on another page here.

In my dream world I would like to get to 125 but I'm questioning whether or not that's realistic. I was a bit disappointed when I plugged my info in to the thing at that site and it suggested 154 was my true weight! Of course at this moment I would be happy to be at that but I don't think I want to stop there. I know in my head that how your clothes fit and how you feel is much more important than any number on the scale but it's hard not to get fixated on a certain number.

I'm trying to set my goals with rewards for steps along the way. I think I'll start with a pedicure once get off 10 lbs. I know mine will be a long journey so I don't have to set the final goal yet.

I tried it, and the "true weight" it came up with isn't much different than my own acceptable high goal -- only 2 lbs higher. I'm aiming for 110, it suggested 112. (I'm short and small framed).

In rounds past, I've gotten down to 102, but absolutely stalled out there, and couldn't maintain it at all... (I thought I'd like to be at 100 or so... )

I know the Dukan site comes up with much higher numbers than the preferred goal for some people, but it honestly may be pretty realistic in terms of our age, history, and what the body can maintain. I think the number the Dukan site came up with for me is pretty close to what my body will sustain without too much of a fight.

Maybe see how you feel as you reach your Dukan weight, and re-evaluate from there?

I know what you mean about getting hung up on a number -- happens to most of us, it seems!

My true weight is about 2 pounds below where I've been stabilizing. I need to realize that I'm DONE and I can now obsess about maintaining instead of losing, or something like that. I've been in 'losing' mode for so long which makes this is a hard transition.

Thanks for mentioning this though - a lot of things that I've been looking at are telling me the same thing. Eventually I'll start to listen.

I checked it out just now and it says I am currently at my true weight. Hmmm.....I will have to see about that! I know that numbers on the scale don't translate to what we see, or what we have on our bodies. I don't know if a chart can tell us if we are at, where we want to be. I want to go lower, have been lower and will see if this attempt will keep me there. So my story is to be continued...........but something to think about if I cannot maintain where I WANT to be vs where my body wants to be LOL.

You will see how hcg is. It makes you greedy and really makes you think you can achieve anything. Hcg is amazing!!!! I Love it!!!

I did the Dukan diet for about 10-12 days, it helped break my plateau, right before JUDDD (you can see it on my link in my signature), AND it's ONE of the reasons my goal weight is 145. That's where he had my "true weight." I honestly believe it's probably the weight I can easily maintain for the rest of my life. Would like to get about 10 below it, but we'll see. I sure miss Dukan right now.

Dawnymama, maybe your true weight is higher than your desire - could that be why you keep revisiting your good friend HCG? Not that I blame you, mind you!

Guys, you've gotta remember that muscle weighs more than fat, and you can actually BE SMALLER at a higher weight, with more muscle. Seems like a lot of HCGers become very scale-obsessed. (And I'm one of them right now, but I vow not to remain so.)

Nope buttah. Not for me. I go by my clothing. I can only fit into half mine. And mine are a size 6!! So not tiny. I am not muscular by any means so I can go small. I have small wrists, small boobs. Just huge arms!!! I need to get smaller and the only thing that works on that abnormal fat is the hcg. It truly targets where you need to get rid of fat. It is amazing!!! And I do love it!! It gets addicting. But also tiresome. I am getting so bored of all the foods--I gotta have my fats. Anyhoo. Like i said everyone will have their comfortable weights/sizes and mine is lower than that silly little chart. And the variance in weights for heights---very wide in my opinion.

I never heard of this before and I went and plugged my stats into it. I don't know what my "average" weight really ever was when I "wasn't dieting and exercising" but I think I weighed about 210 for a really long time before going up up and way up to 270 so that's what I put. The site said 161 was my true weight. Before menohell hit me hard last year one of my rounds got to me to 164 but I wasn't able to maintain it once hormones changed. Right now I'm in the 170's and maintaining fine. I am at a ? question mark as to whether to continue to do JUDDD, maintain, and workout and just try to get healthier and get my hormones stabilized better, adrenals healed, finish my degree, and coast for awhile; or whether to attack the last bit of loss. I had set my own personal goal in the 140's because that's where, according to my doctor, I would not be considered even "overweight" anymore and where I think I look good. But frankly, I want something fairly easy to maintain as well. I am tired of the fight in some respects. I'd like to work WITH my body.

Hmmm I checked it out as well and it said my current weight was right where I need to be. Really? I think i could maintain here without to much of a problem. Something to think about.

Thanks for sharing that info

C'Marie...you have done wonderful!! IMO...I would maintain for a very LONG time and do just as you said, "get healthier and get my hormones stabilized better..." Maintenance is hard enough...stress really does play havoc on being healthy...KWIM?

I went to the Dukan site and it is telling me I should be at 194 lbs....NO WAY!!! (4 pregnancies, obese since pre-teen years, previously 411 lbs., etc.) I'm sitting on 199/200 right now & I still have a ton of weight to go...at least 24 lbs. I have been down to 183 six years ago, didn't hit goal of 170...obsessed over & over about not getting to "GOAL"...instead of maintaining where my body wanted for a while...it backfired...I gradually gained...trajedy struck my family & I gained even more...back up to 291(thankfully not back to 411!) by end of 2011. Low-carbed my way down to 275 when I found hHCG...now I'm at 199 and very happy and plan to stop at 175. I definately won't be a "vain" beautifully shaped size 8, but I'm not 24+ either. I am very hippy...runs in our family...so I'll never, w/o plastics be perfect...Barbie is over-rated anyway, right? So my lesson is now...get to "healthy", enjoy life, and work on maintaining...have fun! No more sabotaging myself by not ever getting "there"...whatever "there" is

KUTGW!!!! You're such an encouragement to us

It showed 128 for me, and I am currently very happy around 129. Even though I am in maintenace I still track my food daily. I also exercise 6-7 days per week. It's a constant effort, but, worth it.

It showed 147 for me, and if I'm working out my clothes will fit at 147. My goal is really 140 though, because I just want a little wiggle room.

Cute new picture of you

I did the data and it said 147 for me. Then I thought I did the finger test wrong, redid it and it put me at 150. But I like the low 140's myself. That is my goal too - I am 5'6.5" tall.

I'm 5'4.5" but because I was so overweight for so long I think the 161 was the lowest. I also went to the Army's site and it said my max was 156. So maybe the 147 I set for myself is too low. I don't know. I'm not even to 161 yet. I'm 15 pounds above that at present. I'd love to see! But I'm just trying to maintain and get healthier at this weight for awhile.

Did my stretches again today! A whole 15 minutes for my bad hip! Woo Hoo! That's not big to anyone but me but there it is

Please tell me what fingers to use? I was so confused I can touch my fingers with my middle finger and thumb, but if I use my pointer finger (finger #2) there is a huge gap. Which finger do I use

I think dukan site told me 154 was my weight goal, but my coach and I are shooting for 134. I am going on blind faith as even when I got married 20 years ago to my former husband I was 144. Ten pounds less than that wow, what does that look like.

I think the test is supposed to be done with your forefinger, index finger, pointer - whatever you want to call it

I can barely meet my middle finger with my thumb but can't get any of the others to meet. Of course I have huge wrists

Oops, I was wrong!

(From the site)
Lets assess your bone structure:
Grasp your left wrist between your right thumb and right forefinger.

...So I went from small to normal. I can see the extra padding on my wrist so I will stick with my original small boned.

I think the wrist test is wrong on the Dukan site. When I use my forefinger and thumb to measure my wrist, there is about an inch gap. However, on nearly every other site, a wrist measuring less than six inches is considered a "small" framed or boned person. Mine is smaller than 6 in, but Dukan says I'm large framed? I wonder if it's not a way that Dukan can say that you should weigh more, so that you feel more successful, faster on their weight-loss plan, lol.

hmm.. dunno about the 6" wrist thing- mine measures 5.5" but I am definitely large boned- especially below the waist. I have good strong Lithuanian/Italian stock.. strong like bull!

Dukan's formula calculates my 'true' weight at 138. Believe me, after years of being closer to 190..138 would probably do. However, I was 118-125 most of my adult life until my thyroid went crazy and menopause set in. I'm still shooting for somewhere between 128-132. Guess I'll just have to see how I feel when I get closer.

This says I'm already at my target weight - love this site . I did it before when I was 147, and it said I should be 155. Today I'm 151.4 (shooting for mid 140's this round, maybe low 140's we'll see.) and it says I'm supposed to be 150. and that I'm already "there". I suppose a range is fine.

Happychick-I thought just the opposite from the site. That they're trying to sell their diet and coaching and would do better to tell us we're VERY far from our "goal" so we'll use their services. I was actually very reassured by their calculation and bolstered by their vote of "goal" .

It might be true that wrists are not even a basis for bone structure, but their measurements are still off...I know that I wear nearly the smallest sized wrist watches and bracelets...and it says I'm large boned, based on my wrist size? I have big hips and legs, but small upper body...not sure what constitutes a large or small frame, unless it's obvious to the naked eye (without extra weight/fat).
