Post your Favorite P2 (Protocol) Recipes

I know there is a recipe thread but it's SOOO long it's tough to wade through it all so I thought it would be fun to do a "favorites" thread.

I did a very boring round last time and Only ate Asparagus and Celery with the ocassional tomato and it got old really fast so I'm thinking of trying some new recipes this time. I'd love to figure out how to eat other veggies on the list but I don't know what to eat. I tried steaming cabbage last time but it was not good. I also tried boiling radishes. Not for me.

Please post one or two of your favorite P2 Protocol Friendly recipes! (Protein, Veggies or Fruit)

I'll start with mine: (which I did not make up, found them on here)

Lemon Tilapia
Season Well with Salt, Pepper, Garlic and Onion Powder, Adobo and Dill
Slice 3-4 slices of lemon
Squeeze Lemon over fish then place on top of it
Wrap in Tin Foil
Grill for 7-8 minutes on each side.

Strawberry Shake
Sliced Strawberries
1tsp of FF Milk
A dropper of Vanilla Creme Stevia
Ice
Blend in Blender

Baked Italian Meatballs - P2

I can't remember which website I got this from, but I eat these all the time on P2!

Baked Italian Meatballs*
100 grams lean ground beef
¼ teaspoon basil
1/8 teaspoon oregano
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon oregano
1 tablespoon minced onion
1 clove garlic crushed and minced
1 serving Melba toast crumbs
1 recipe marinara sauce *

Combine meat, crumbs and spices and mix thoroughly. Form into balls.
Place into baking dish and cover with marinara sauce. Bake for 20-30
minutes at 350 degrees. Serve hot over cabbage noodles. Garnish with fresh basil.
Makes 1 serving (1 protein, 1 vegetable, 1 Melba toast)

Marinara Sauce*
4 large tomatoes or as many as you want if you wish to increase the recipe (1 can)
1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
1 6 ounce can tomato paste
1 tablespoon dried basil or fresh rolled and chopped basil to taste
2 tablespoons minced onion
2 cloves of garlic crushed and minced
1 teaspoon dried oregano
Salt and pepper to taste
Cayenne pepper to taste
Pinch of marjoram*

Chop tomatoes or puree in a food processor for a smoother texture, add
spices and heat in a saucepan. Allow to slow cook for 30 minutes to an
hour. Allow the liquid to reduce or add additional water to achieve desired
consistency.
Makes 2 or more servings (1 vegetable)*

Meatloaf - P2

This is my new favorite. I don't bake it with the sf ketchup. I do use a tiny bit on the side, though. I use about 2 pounds of beef and make a bunch at once. It's so good! I like it with some cabbage on the side.

HCG Style Meatloaf

Here's what you'll need...

100 grams - Ground Steak
1/2 teaspoon - Milk
1 Grissini Breadstick/Melba Toast (Ground up)
2 Cloves Minced Garlic
1/2 teaspoon - Minced Onion
1/2 teaspoon - Spicy Mustard
1/8 teaspoon - Sage
1 Pinch - Sea Salt and Pepper
HCG Sugar Free Ketchup

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350.
In small bowl, combine all ingredients and form into a small meatloaf.
Place into a small glass dish and cover.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
Remove from oven and spread a little HCG Sugar-Free Ketchup on top.
Bake for an additional 5 to 10 minutes.
Serve and enjoy.

**Note** I think this is too much sage.

These are in the "short form" thread but they have saved me in all of my P2's...

Salad dressings:

Start with...
2T broth (beef, chicken or veggie)
2T apple cider or red wine vinegar
1/4t salt
1/4t pepper

For Italian add...
1t Italian seasoning
1/4t garlic powder
1/4t onion powder

For honey mustard add...
1T mustard (yellow or brown but check ingredients for sugar)
5 drops plain stevia or 1/2 packet Splenda or Sweet 'n Low

For a creamier dressing use...
2T Walden Farms Caesar, Ranch or Blue Cheese dressing in place of one T of broth and one T vinegar

For a different taste use...
2T orange juice, lemon juice or lime juice in place of the vinegar

Switch up spices. I like...
1t curry or
1t shallot pepper or
1t dill or
1t sage or
1t cumin

"Skillet" meals:
(if you are NOT eating the grissini/melba, increase your evening veggie portion to 200g/7oz)

Broth 1/4-1/2c, depending on how saucy you like it
Chicken
Beef
Veggie

Protein 100g/3.5oz raw
chicken breast
lean ground beef
shrimp
crab meat
langostino tails

Veggie 100g/3.5oz raw
Belgian endive
Cabbage
Bok choy
Celery
Chinese cabbage

Spices
Onion powder
Garlic powder
Salt
Pepper

plus...
Italian - 1T Italian seasoning (works best with chicken or beef plus endive or cabbage)
Mexican - 1T chili powder, 1t cumin, couple of dashes tobasco or tapatio (works best with chicken or beef plus cabbage or endive)
Asian - 1T soy sauce or Braggs liquid aminos (works with all)
Lemon pepper - 1t lemon pepper, 1T fresh lemon juice (work best with chicken or seafood plus any veggie)

Add broth to skillet. Add veggie and spices and cook to just before desired doneness. Add raw protein and cook until done (the protein cooks so fast that it's best to add it at the end). Optional: sprinkle with Guar or Xanthan gum (available at most healthfood stores) in a salt shaker for a thicker sauce--a little goes a VERY long way so sprinkle with caution! **DO NOT OVERDO AS IT IS A STARCH AND COULD STALL YOU.

Panfried White Roughy

Sprinkle a filet of Swai (white roughy--available at Ralph's and TJ's), cod, or orange roughy with salt and pepper. Heat skillet until hot. Add fish. Cook on one side for 3 mins. Flip and cook until fish flakes easily--about 2 more minutes. Serve with salad or stirfried veggies.

Mine are the soups. You can find them in the sticky above, but the French Onion soup by metqa is my absolute fav!!!!! It is wonderful. It is like post #9--on the first page of the sticky. My other fav is what I had today. I made egg drop soup for lunch. Just chicken broth with the allowed egg added. Very simple and easy. I like it like that!

Aha. I couldn't find this thread. I just found this in another forum, and made it for dinner. So good! (You could add cabbage or shirataki noodles, I suppose)

Spicy Beef and Onions

~Just 5 ingredients and very yummy! I like spicy food, it makes me drink lots of water and fill up faster.~

100 grams beef filet (I buy the tails of the filets. They are generally 33-50% cheaper than a filet steak. Other lean beef steak can be substituted.)
Salt
1/8 t or more Cayenne powder
1 medium sweet yellow onion, sliced
1/4 cup protocol beef stock

Slice the beef into thin strips. The way you cut your protein can really make the meal. For this one, you want to slice your cut of meat into thin pieces, then lay those flat and cut them into thin strips. It's worth the effort. Sprinkle with salt.

Cut your onion in half and then slice into 1/8" slices.

Preheat a 10" nonstick skillet. Here's a little tip: you're never supposed to preheat a nonstick skillet without something in it - fat or whatever you are cooking. It can ruin your pan and/or release harmful chemicals into your food. For this recipe, you really want a dry skillet to get a nice sear and create the flavorful fond in the bottom of the pan. So to overcome this, add about 1/2 cup water to the nonstick skillet and heat it over high until boiling for 30-60 seconds. Dump out the water, wipe quickly and return to the burner. Immediately add your meat. That way you don't ruin your pan or release carcinogens into your food!!

So preheat the skillet as directed above and add the beef strips. Sprinkle with cayenne. Sear quickly (1, maybe 2 minutes) flipping once. The meat will brown a bit and a nice carmelized, brown fond will form in the bottom of the pan. Remove the meat to a dish, tenting with foil to keep warm.

Immediately add the onions to the pan with a tablespoon or two of stock. Turn burner down to medium. Stir with a wooden spoon and scrape up all of that lovely fond...that's all flavor, baby! Add more cayenne (I use lots!) and continue to cook the onions, carmelizing a little but not all of the way so the onions are still plump and have some texture, adding additional stock if the pan is completely dry and/or the onions start to burn. This should take about 8-15 minutes, depending on your stove. Don't rush this step! Well carmelized onions make this dish!

Add the beef and any juices that have accumulated back to the pan and heat through, about 30 seconds. Adjust seasonings and serve.

Soooo good!

I really need to brush up the foods you are allowed on VLCD. I don't remember egg as being on the list.

Yup! It is on there. Dr S allows 1 whole egg plus 3 egg whites for "when you tire of the meat". I have that quite often as I am very tired of dry chicken breast yet again He also allows cottage cheese for a protein as well.
