Just did my first injection

Woke up this morning still hemming and hawing:

Should I wait until TOM (who knows when it's coming - I'm 55 and it's so unpredictable)?

Should I wait a few days until I have turned in this work project, just in case I have intense hunger the first VLCD's? (I'm a writer and on JUDDD, I have found writing while hungry to be nearly impossible - I can deal with errands, meetings, kids, etc. with hunger, but NOT concentrating and creating from scratch!)

Should my load days be the weekend? Okay, who really cares at this point?

Do I really want to do this?

So this morning, I got sick of myself, had cream in my coffee and injected. Which means Sept 1 will be VLCD1, which is nice and neat.

Getting ready to have some scrambled eggs (with yellows!), cheese and bacon (I haven't eaten this kind of food in years)

Wish me luck. Perhaps I should do a journal. I feel like I'm going to need some hand-holding.

Good Luck Buttah! I'll see you in P2 land :shake:

Just had a 754 calorie breakfast, more than I ate all day yesterday on my final JUDDD Down Day. Three eggs, two slices of cheese, three pieces of thick cut bacon, cream in my coffee. Yikes.

I am trying to avoid sugar and carbs on loading.

What is the typical calorie count of a load day? Should I be stuffed, or just full? I hate being stuffed. Very scary to purposely raise the scale!

ASHLEY2HAWAII 08-30-2012 08:48 AM

I load with low carb and dont stuff either. I lost 3 lbs last time I loaded:)
By the second day you are ready for a low cal day. Good luck in p2!

dawnyama 08-30-2012 10:36 AM

buttah--calories don't matter on the load days. Just eat a lot! Have fun too. I know that when Berta loaded for her first round her tummy was not used to all the fat, it revolted and she lost all she ate. So eat, but don't go too crazy!

buttah 08-30-2012 11:45 AM

It's hard to think of this as fun. I feel disgusting and stuffed. Can't imagine doing it again for lunch, dinner and snacks, let alone again tomorrow. And I truly believe that too many times of eating to this point (but more like in one meal, not two days!) is what made me gain in the first place. It's so counterintuitive to be doing it on purpose.

I know it's important. I know it will help me succeed in P2. But I also know the gains (if any, but I'm pretty sure there will be some) will depress me after working so long and hard to get them off (I've been losing slowly since Feb).

I can't imagine anyone feeling this is fun or that it offers some sort of "satisfied" emotional feeling to live off and remember during P2. My hunch is that anyone who considers this "satisfied" is someone who will gain back the weight because they will return to eating way past the end of hunger.

Anyway, had to rant. Forgive me. I feel yucky and scared. Hold my hand.

Ashley2hawaii, when you say you "don't stuff," can you clarify? Right now you are my shining ray of hope that I can get through loading successfully without gaining 5 lbs.

I just eat till Im full, which is quite fast with HCG injections. Im not a big eater for the most part and can not stand to be full, I will throw up if I eat too much:sick: My weight is from the wrong foods and too much liquor:o On loading days I just concentrate on meat, eggs, cheese nuts and Atkin's induction type food. I do not like a lot of fat it makes me feel awful. I will have a slice of sf cheese cake from Cheese cake factory , but just a slice:laugh: Every one loads differently and for me I just do not want to start with even more weight to loose. So I guess I just eat normally and have the last cocktails for 40 days.

buttah 08-30-2012 01:07 PM

Did you eat a meal, even if you were still full from the last one? At this point, I don't even want dinner.

And how was your success? Hard to know from your profile. Did you just restart or something?

If I was still full, no I don't eat.
Long story, but yes it worked for me, my first round was very successful I went from 188-157 in 40 days, but life happens, I got married and my son has crohns disease and is in and out of the hospital and surgery etc...stress got the better of me and so did the drinking to cope. I started a new round last month, however Son was scheduled (was cancelled) to have his colon removed and I could not cope with the diet at that time. It takes an enormous amount of structure to do this plan and my head and heart were not in it to win it. I am starting again this next week. No surgeries are scheduled and I do not have anything planned for the next 40 days. I really do not plan to load per say this round, I know that the injections keep me satisfied without loading. Good luck I'll be hanging in there with ya!

We sure have been through a lot together, huh? Yes, that is very adequately said. Life happens........I had some very big life stresses just a couple of weeks ago and had to cut my round short. And didn't care what I ate. I am starting a new round on Monday! Or could be Sunday. Best of luck sweetie--I am rooting for you :jumpjoy::jumpjoy:

My heart goes out to you. Life and the difficulties of raising kids (along with some struggles) while being the main breadwinner is the reason it's taken me 15 years to get around to getting my body back after my pregnancies. You DO have to be in, and hopefully stay in, the right headspace. Bravo for you to regrouping and re-attacking. I have no doubt you'll succeed.

And your loading strategy is giving me peace. I don't know if it's the shot of HCG or the actual fatty foods I've had today (lunch was the last piece of bacon from breakfast, a bunch of raw veggies and celery dipped in a half avocado and a bit of Costco's artichoke/jalapeno dip TDF). I do think I'm getting the right loading foods in, at least, right?

It's not quite 2pm. We might go out for lobster tonight. I just hope I have an appetite. If not, no way I'm putting food in my mouth.

Oh my I had forgotten the Costco dip, my very favorite dip ever, enjoy it! Enjoy the lobster tonight if you are hungry, if not take it home and have it tomorrow with the dip:yummy:

A couple more questions!

My clinic does 21 day P2 rounds of rxhcg (plus counseling during P3/P4) where you can add on 3 additional weeks for a total of 6 weeks or 42 days of P2 before they make you move to P3/4 (so I guess that's two days under and two days over Dr. S's suggestions).

I'm going to try for 28 days at least, and if possible, would love to lose about 25 lbs so that could mean closer to the 42 days.

They DO NOT advise people to skip injections, either during TOM or once a week. That's just what they have found works.

Have people who've not skipped injections on rxhcg had any immunity problems, or difficulty doing a longish round?

Thanks.

Reddy 08-30-2012 07:31 PM

I didn't enjoy loading at all the first time because I just wasn't hungry and I wasn't used to eating that way.

But good luck to you, you're going to do great!

I have only done one round and it was only 22 days but I did not skip or stop during TOM. I did stall during TOM but lost as soon as it ended and lost 18lbs in 22 days. About to do another round so we'll see if there are any immunity issues but I doubt it. My clinic said not to skip injections unless you have over 50lbs to lose. (I guess b/c if you have more than 50lbs you'd be doing multiple rounds and then immunity could be an issue)

I did a 40 day round my first time and didn't skip injections. Had no immunity issues. :)

Loading Day two. I went to bed so full (had a protein style In n' Out cheeseburger and a few fries for dinner, without being really hungry - I HATE THAT - but I had "load properly" in my head). Total calories for yesterday was about 2000. More than I've had in eons.

Today I had half a peanut butter banana chocolate chip donut for breakfast. One of my favorite things ever, but something I only eat about once a year. I guess I'm not low-carb loading anymore. But I will for the rest of the day.

I was 169 yesterday; today I'm 171. Not too bad. I really hope I don't gain today. Going to try to up the fat and not gain.

Tomorrow is VLCD1!

Now for the questions:

Is it possible the HCG is already working in my system? I am just not hungry at all, and I'm also kind of sleepy (which I remember from the early days of pregnancy). Or is it just the huge calories and bad food I've had?

I'm going to move this over to a journal. Will put the link in the my signature, and if you have answers for me, post them there!

Thanks!

Just got back from the doctor with the little one (my youngest and he is 6 years old). Just told he has asthma :stars::stars: Needs breathing treatments through a nebulizer, thank God no inhaler. But will be having a follow up in 10 days. We will see how that goes. I am about ready to quit my job. Haven't yet, but been thinking about it. Between my 11 yr old with diabetes, my 6 yr old with asthma, how am I to get to go to work? I have been off today and yesterday to be at home with my 6 yr old. I also had to run my 13 yr old for a follow up appointment to his doctor today for his foot when he injured it over the summer. Geesh---things just don't get any better. Don't get me wrong, I would do anything for my babies, but the stresses that go along with having 4  Talk about timing. I am glad I haven't started P2 yet. I can eat through my day today without thinking. :p

So sorry about the asthma diagnosis. I know what you mean about working and keeping up with the kidos. I was a single parent and I was very lucky to have such an understanding work place! I was forever having to leave to pick up Allen at the nurse's office or take him to the dr or in and out of the hospital etc. I just have the one, so bless you with having 4.

buttah 08-31-2012 11:53 AM

So sorry, dawnyama. How incredibly stressful, but I'm sure you will get through it. Life, huh?

buttah 09-01-2012 08:28 AM

How do most of you count tomatoes when you do a P2 "chili" recipe? As your vegetable or as a fruit?

Reddy 09-01-2012 08:32 AM

Originally I counted as veg but when I saw it was giving me stalls I changed to counting as a fruit!

If I add onion to my chili then I count it as a fruit. If I don't use onion, then it is my veggie.

christyb 09-01-2012 04:06 PM

I eat tomato as a veggie almost every day. Sometimes both meals.

One of my rounds I ended up going to my mother's house. This was last summer because my step dad passed away last July 19 (my anniversary). She lives in FL and her husband had just passed. I was loading on the way down, and started the VLCDs were while I was there. I made up a bunch of chicken before I left, brought those with me, and when I got there, bought cans of tomatoes and grapefruit and apples. I had chicken and tomatoes every meal, with one of the fruits I bought. It worked out well. I lost a lot of weight while away. I am thinking to make it easier on myself I will do this again this round. I want easy, I am always looking for the simple way of doing things. I have a bunch of chicken from last round I just got out of the freezer and some cans of tomatoes in the closet. I am so glad tomatoes don't stall me :)

Me too! Also cabbage! I really don't like vegetables, so that's a big struggle for me. Tomatoes have saved the day!

For most of last round and a lot of this round I've been eating chili and meatballs with tomato sauce. I do need to mix it up a bit so I don't get too bored! But so far I still like them.

dawnyama 09-01-2012 06:58 PM

I hate vegetables too!! When I get bored with P2, those are the first to go. I never cut out my fruit or protein. But veggies---ick!

buttah 09-01-2012 07:14 PM

guys, I have one fruit (and melba - no grissini in the house yet) left. What should I make? Apple or strawberry, as I don't eat oranges and I'm not in the mood for grapefruit.

I also still have the milk option.

Something that's the most satisfying, as this is day one and it's hard.
