Still truckin' over here...down -.4 for 3 days in a row:jumpjoy: Consistency!!! Excited b'cuz that includes going on a vacation to a waterpark overnight. Thought for sure I would stall out...usually do.

No loss here today. Hanging in there and staying focused. Drinking lots of water.

Any thoughts/experience with stopping hcg homopathic during your cycle? Didn't plan the end of my round very well.

Angie

Lara -- Congrats those are awesome losses!! Have fun in P3 :D

Dawn -- Yes I would love the recipe!! I always love new recipes, hehe.

Angela -- Yay! You're so close!

Manders -- I'm so sorry you're struggling :hugs: it's a tough diet we're on! But just remember how gross you felt after the cheats and all the reasons why you'd want to be skinnier and maybe that will motivate you? Write them down and put them where you can see them! Or think of it as a challenge you have to overcome. That works for me. :heart:

--
I've decided I'm not weighing until Bernice visits! It's been faaarrrrr too long so I'm stalled out weight-wise. I can tell I'm getting thinner so I'm not overly concerned, just wish I could be more regular! :o I've upped my magnesium dosage so hopefully that helps. I'm tempted to drink a bunch of senna tea today but I'd really like the magnesium to help me be more regular in general so I'm trying to hold out.

I bought tons of fun spices over the weekend so I'll be food experimenting, which makes the food a little less boring :D

Have a great week!!:heart:

shelbyla 08-27-2012 12:51 PM

Hi everyone! Glad y'all found the new thread! :)

Lara - we'll miss you but enjoy P3! Yay! And you had a stellar round, girl! Whoohoo! :clap:

Angela - :aprayer: for onederland this week! Congrats on dodging that water park bullet. (wow, now THAT'S a weird mental image! :laugh: )

Eddie and Cocoa - :hiya:

Angie - on the TOM thing, do you usually gain water weight during TOM? If you are ending right before it begins, it may cause a slow down your last week but give you some wiggle room when TOM leaves and takes a couple of pounds with it. If you are ending then you get it a week later, you may see the normal bump up. In any case, I wouldn't worry too much about the timing. You just have to understand your body's normal patterns.

Manders - I totally get what you mean by losing motivation when you get to that "ok" place. I've done it a lot myself, over the years. You get comfortable and it's SOOOO much better than where you started! You'll have to decide for yourself whether you are ok with "ok" or if you want to go for the dream. If you want a visual of the difference between 175 and 140 on someone roughly your height, you should search for my goal thread. I posted pics the first time I made it to 140 of my various phases. It might give you a clearer mental pic of what the difference is. I know it was pretty big on me, anyway! (Of course, you're a bit bigger "on top" than I am, if I recall correctly!) Anyway, hugs for you. :hugs: Whatever you decide, we're behind you--you look terrific NOW! But...here it comes (a little tough love! :heart: )...sweetie, stop shooting yourself in the foot! :laugh: That sh%t HURTS and we weep with you! :console:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As for me, had a nice relaxing weekend. Both dates were flakey (of course!) so I had plenty of time to run errands, do laundry, get food prepped for the week, etc. I'm not chasing these silly boys! If they want to see me they can let me know! :laugh: Too many fish in the sea to waste my time... :D Had a little "strawberry incident" on Saturday night (ate far too many!) but it didn't hurt me much. Nonetheless, I won't be doing THAT again! Pretty much STS today but I've had good losses the last couple of days so my body is just catching up. A little less than 5 pounds to goal. We'll see if I make it. I just want to land next Sunday on LDW between 140 and 145 and unless I go completely off the rails this week, I should.
Have a terrific day everyone!
Yes, you are so right. I've been shooting myself in the foot all summer. Totally 100% my fault. I made a promise to myself and I can't let myself down. I really needed some tough love, that's for sure. Thank you! :hugs::heart:
I did a steak day yesterday (long story). Had the biggest steak of my life and I'm down about a pound to 180.8. Haven't had any movement in the bathroom business since Friday, so I'm hoping that will fix itself in the next couple of days. I really did a number on myself this weekend. I'm just finally starting to get rid of that hungover feeling. Gross. Only 13 days left of this round, I know I can make it to 173 if I really put my mind to it. I managed to lose over 50 pounds so far, so I can do another 41 to my ultimate goal.
I'm really excited to see my BF on the 9th. :love: I miss him more than I've ever missed him before. We have a king jacuzzi suite at our hotel with a little kitchen (fridge + microwave) which means I can pretty much do my PI perfectly if I set my mind to it. I told him we MUST stop at Kroger on our way there so I can get my food. When he was here last time, I ate like crap and so I felt like crap the whole time which was a bummer since I wanted to feel at my best when he was here. Learned my lesson on that one. Feeling sick on vacation sucks.
I really wrote a novel today lol many thanks to anyone who read all of that :love:
Happy losses friends, have a good evening!
dawnyama 08-27-2012 04:15 PM
I was going to post the recipe here, but that would be just cruel LOL. So I will link to the recipe:
http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/lo...nimo-bars.html
that way you don't have to look if you are too tempted! And, yes these are definitely for P3.
oh my- I read the recipe and then googled an image.. they look amazing. :stars:
I was so hungry yesterday.. I'm pretty sure it was the orange I ate after lunch. Too much sugar?? It seemed to trigger a carb craving. I didn't cave- but, geeze- chewed the hell out of my cheek..ouch!
I'm going to do last dose of this round tomorrow night and then 2 days vlcd/no hhcg. *sigh* P3 starts this weekend. It seems like everyone else gets excited about P3; me, not so much. I'm already planning R2...lol.
I have a girlfriend who is waiting on delivery of her hhCG. She's already joined here and is super excited!! I'm sure she'll be joining in the conversation after lurking a bit. I assured her she was in the best place for support!! :heart:
Make it a great day, everyone!
cocoapeanut 08-28-2012 10:13 AM
Well of course I looked at the recipe! Thanks Dawn :love:
Manders - I went to a spice store called Penzey's and got a bunch of their mixes plus chili powder and chipotle, a lemon pepper garlic thing, minced garlic, toasted onion, bbq spice, vindaloo curry and tandoori seasoning, mexican vanilla, and big bags of delicious-smelling cocoa powder. Mmmmm! And being excited for the BF is definitely good. That sounds like so much fun!
Happy - I understand about P3, it can be so stressful compared to P2! P2 gives you a set of rules and you know you'll lose weight, but P3 comes and is less restricted, so you think you might mess it all up or something. But don't worry, it's just a new part of the adventure. Just stick to the no starch no sugar rule, don't think about it too hard, do CDs when you need to, and you'll be fine! :hugs: Enjoy the fats and the bigger portions!
--
Well, I'm still waiting around for my bowel movement. Taking lots of magnesium this morning and tonight, and if nothing by tomorrow morning, I'll cave and drink the senna tea tomorrow. At least that's the plan right now. Tired of stalling! I'm taking my last dose before the PI a week from tomorrow and would like to be solidly in the 150's by then. :)
:heart: to you all!
susanlopez 08-28-2012 10:38 AM
This is day 3 for me on p2 I am having a blast woke up to 7 lbs lighter within 2 days I am a happy camper. The long weekend coming up, glad I invited my family that is on p2 with me, makes it easier to think about what to make. Was 245 now 238 long way to go. I am so looking forward to when I am below 200.
timsbeloved 08-28-2012 10:45 AM
Well, Ladies & Eddie, I am calling it a round. I was down another pound this morning weighing in at 203.4. Yesterday was my 40th day on hcg. I have lost a grand total of 33 pounds this round. Even with my 10 day stall, I am thrilled with my total loss.
So, I am 2 days with 500 calories and no drops. My first P3 day will be Thursday. I am going into P3 with a little fear and trepidation. I did not stabilize well on round 2 at all, although R1P3 went great. I have armed myself with my recipes and menus from R1P3. I have made my grocery list, got a few new induction friendly recipes and my tredmill is out of storage!
I started last October with Atkins and then moved on to hcg. I have lost a total of 87 in the last 11 months. Yeah! You all have been a great encouragemnt. I really appreciate your counsel and experience. I am sure I will see many of you in P3 soon.
Hold the course, stick to protocol and drink water, LOL.
Angie
HappyChick 08-28-2012 11:00 AM
Angie!
You are an inspiration and I'm proud to be following in your footsteps! You have had an amazing journey so far and are well on your way to goal.. congratulations!! You have every reason to :jumpjoy: !!
I'm right behind you- my R1 ends Thursday, 2 days of vlc/no hhcg and P3 at the weekend. See you in the P3 thread!!
:sing: You rock!!
Thank you! I don't know exactly what my first P3 day will look like- working on that now- but, no matter what.. it will include a good dose of cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil. OMG- how I've missed it! :love:
Dawn
Thank you too. I am older but not sure how much wiser;)
shelbyla 08-28-2012 01:08 PM
Gooooood afternoon peeps! Well the scale was kind this morning...down almost a pound into 143 by a hair. Looking for that elusive 140 by the end of the week. 7 vlcds left to get there but being OCD, I'd sure like it to be my LDW... :D That's almost 4 pounds in 5 days so I'm kinda doubting it but I am sure I can get there by the 7th day. Still pondering the transition to P3. I think the final two contenders are a gradual transition, increasing 250 calories a day, I think mostly in protein (750/1000/1250), starting on the days with no injections, and adding eggs, meats and fats at the start of P3. NO nuts, NO cheese, just plenty of good fats. Basically a traditional transition mixed with a little Biz-business. :) The other is the fat fast. And yes...still pondering! :laugh:
Cocoa, my friend, what CAN we do to get Bernice to visit? How much mag are you taking? This just sucks badly! :console: I would be totally wigged. You are handling it MUCH better than I!
Angie and Happychick - good luck in P3! You guys will rock it!
Dawn - as the masochist that I am, I ALSO opened that recipe. It's going on the list! Hopefully, I'll never need loading food again but... :D Have you made them? Does the center get really firm? Just trying to imagine!
Susan - :welcome: Welcome! Post every day. It REALLY helps keep you on track!
Manders - how ya doin' today, girlie?
Berta - welcome back to P2! I know you are totally itching to get started...good luck to you on your next round! I wanted to post something from P&I about immunity, particularly with the rx. I read on the P3 thread that you were going to go back to back with your rounds, and you might want to re-read this. Obviously it's your choice (as you said), but we just want the best stabilization for you that you can get! Also, can't have you hungry, now can we? :high5: Note that Dr. S talks about 40 doses being the maximum, and does NOT say that skipping doses or taking PIs makes it ok to take more or somehow prevents it. Just want to make sureyou have all the facts, darlin', before you waste time and hCG! :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Immunity to HCG

The reason for limiting a course to 40 doses is that by then some patients may begin to show signs of HCG immunity. Though this phenomenon is well known, we cannot as yet define the underlying mechanism. Maybe after a certain length of time the body learns to break down and eliminate HCG very rapidly, or possibly prolonged treatment leads to some sort of counter-regulation which annuls the diencephalic effect.
After 40 daily doses it takes about six weeks before this so-called immunity is lost and HCG again becomes fully effective. Usually after about 40 doses patients may feel the onset of immunity as hunger which was previously absent. In those comparatively rare cases in which signs of immunity develop before the full course of 40 doses has been completed - say at the 35th dose - treatment must be stopped at once, because if it is continued the patients begin to look weary and drawn, feel weak and hungry and any further loss of weight achieved is then always at the expense of normal fat. This is not only undesirable, but normal fat is also instantly regained as soon as the patient is returned to a free diet.
Patients who need only 23 doses may be injected daily, including Sundays, as they never develop immunity. In those that take 40 doses the onset of immunity can be delayed if they are given only six doses a week, leaving out Sundays or any other day they choose, provided that it is always the same day. On the days on which they do not receive the doses they usually feel a slight sensation of hunger.

Further Courses
Patients requiring the loss of more than 34 lbs. must have a second or even more courses. A second course can be started after an interval of not less than six weeks, though the pause can be more than six weeks. When a third, fourth or even fifth course is necessary, the interval between courses should be made progressively longer. Between a second and third course eight weeks should elapse, between a third and fourth course twelve weeks, between a fourth and fifth course twenty weeks and between a fifth and sixth course six months. In this way it is possible to bring about a weight reduction of 100 lbs. and more if required without the least hardship to the patient.

Shelby -- I KNOW RIGHT?! I took 3 yesterday and upped it to 4 this morning. I'll take another 4 tonight. And if still nothing...then I'm whipping out the tea, cause this is ridiculous!! I feel so blocked :( But hey at least I won't be mag deficient.. :laugh:

Traveling

Hi Everyone,

I'm on VLCD 9. Down 7 lbs, so I'm happy with that. I am actually going out of town to Chicago this weekend. Any tips on how to handle that. I do the injections...wondering how I am even going to be able to fly with that and keep it refrigerated?

Also, the eating out? Kind of worried about how this is all going to work out.

This really made me laugh, because I'm in the exact same boat. Haven't had anything happen since FRIDAY! Took some pills today.

Shelbyla - I'm alright today. Weighed in at 180.6. But like I mentioned above, having some issues.

I'm so bloated and backed up, I looked pregnant today. :doh: Not very attractive, to say the least. I was drinking a bit of soda to help ease myself back into clean eating because then it *sorta* feels like a treat, but all it's doing is making me look/feel like a whale.

When I was looking at myself naked in the mirror today I got really discouraged. The more weight I lose, the smaller I realize my frame really is. I have a lot left to lose before I will feel comfortable in a bathing suit. At least 40 more pounds. :(

Welcome Ace! :hiya:

OUCH! on the traveling. NOT easy to do on this plan and you are too early in to do an interruption.

As far as traveling with it, you have a couple of choices. If you are leaving Friday or Saturday and coming back Sunday, you can inject Friday (or Saturday morning), skip Saturday, and inject later on Sunday. Another way is to pack it in your luggage with a disposable ice pack or insulated bag. No problem with the needles that way and theoretically it should stay cool. Alternately, you could carry it on with you but just let the security know that you have injectible medicine and needles and they will take it through for you.

Eating out is really tough--I am not going to sugar coat it (so to speak). You need to gear yourself up for serious temptation and be prepared to resist. Do NOT even get something that will tempt you on your plate! Do NOT hesitate to ask for "no oils," "no starch." Play the diabetic card. Play the celiac card. Lie your a$$ off! Just make it VERY clear that you CANNOT have these things in your food. If you are not telling the people you are staying/hanging out with that you are doing the protocol, tell that that you are under orders from your doctor that you need to be on this special diet. Tell them it's for cholesterol or blood sugar or weight. Whatever works for you. BUT STICK TO YOUR GUNS!!! Do NOT be afraid to send something back if you suspect is has oil or butter. You just have to want the weight loss more than the food. One thing that works for me is visualizing ALL SEVEN OF THOSE POUNDS RIGHT BACK ON WHEN YOU GET BACK. Seriously, if you're tempted, think about seeing that number on the scale. Is it worth it?

As for what to order in a restaurant, the safest places are probably steakhouses for dinner. Many will have a plain grilled fillet mignon (usually 8oz). Get it and IMMEDIATELY ask for a take out box, cut the steak in half, and put the rest away. You can usually get spinach or asparagus as a side--non-plan options are broccoli or cauliflower. Another option is to get shrimp cocktail (about 10-12 medium shrimp are 100g) and a plain salad with lemon wedges. Plain hamburgers on a bed of lettuce or with a side of steamed veggies can work. Chicken usually has additives so a lot of people have trouble with it. Breakfast is coffee, coffee, coffee. Brunch, go for poached eggs (1 whole and 3 whites or 2 whole in a pinch) with sliced tomatoes. Lunch, salad again. You know the choices!

Anyway, hope some of that helps. Good luck!

manders 08-28-2012 03:36 PM

OOOOH that was all very helpful to read for my trip as well. I specifically chose the hotel I did so that we would have a fridge in our room and I could go to the grocery store and get sensible food, instead of just eating out for 5 days.

Thanks girly!

Dude I haven't had anything since Tuesday. TUESDAY! A week ago! Like, what?! I managed to eke out a teensy bit today but definitely still need help. Sorry, TMI everyone :o

I feel ya on the whole "how much you really want to lose" thing. My first weight goal was 180 when I was 220. I got to 175 and was like.."wow, I could lose more" but was stuck there for a long time. So then I thought maybe 160. After bouncing around and finally getting to 160 after hCG, I looked in the mirror like "um, I could still lose more.." so now I'm thinking 145-150? I keep adjusting the dang goal because I get there and the fat that I thought would have gone away is still there!

I guess I don't really know where exactly I'll end up, but I get a better idea as I go along. We will know when we look in the mirror one day and dance!! :sing:

TUESDAY??!?!?! OMG! :stars: Are you going to explode? lol Do you even feel bloated at all?

I'm really stuck in the 180's. It's been brutal. It's mostly my own POOR will power. I feel so totally pathetic. :cry:

Have a great P2 week, also!

Still truckin' over here...down -.4 for 3 days in a row:jumpjoy: Consistency!!! Excited b'cuz that includes going on a vacation to a waterpark overnight. Thought for sure I would stall out...usually do.
Almost to "onederland" :clap::up:

Keep on truckin'!!!!!

Hello Angela:hiya:
Sounds like you are about to make that goal.:clap:I'm cheering for you!!!

I have been on Ph 3 for four weeks now and almost five so I am going to P2 Monday.I am ready to loose some more weight.
First Rnd I lost 20 lbs then gained some back(4lbs).Then this round I went from 260 to 244 so I lost more this time than last actually and didn't do a PH4 then either. I did do an interuption and that is my plan this time. I have stayed the same for all these weeks so I am going to do it!!!

I am hoping for another 15-20lb loss this round:aprayer:.

You will be in the onderland land before you know it!! Keep on truckin:up:

I do feel a little bloated and my intestines get gurgly sometimes. Mostly I just feel kinda heavy, ya know?

Don't be so hard on yourself. Everyone has that time where the willpower isn't the best. The only thing you can really do is have a good think about why you sabotaged yourself and what your priorities truly are right now. If you come to a conclusion about it, you might find that much more peace and resolve. The real key I think is to understand your weaknesses and become good at heading them off before they mess with you. And always try to treat yourself with respect!

Weight loss is easy sometimes and really freaking hard at other times because life is always changing, and we are always changing! Sometimes the diet works out great and other times, not so much, yeah? No one is perfect..I don't think we'd all be in this forum if we were. :laugh:

If your head is in the game, great, because it takes determination to do this diet right! If not, do your best to get through a minimum round without cheating, and then take a mental break and recharge for a while. Needing a break doesn't make you pathetic -- it makes you normal. Your body may need a break too! The only people that enjoy permanent restriction are the weird super control freak types anyways, lol! It's like it turns them on or something..no judgment, I'll just be over here eating a cupcake :hyst:

Mmmm I shouldn't talk cupcake on P2. I'm already cheating in my dreams as it is!

Anyway, it's a learning process, and we are all doing the best we can in whatever life situations we happen to be in. When I was finishing my first round at my old clinic in IL, there was a patient that had just come back to attempt her fourth round, having completely failed her first three. And the clinic is NOT cheap!! It goes to show how breaking old habits and forming new ones can be so surprisingly difficult. So don't feel pathetic - you're embarking on a challenge! Count the little victories, like making it through the work day without eating any of the goodies in the kitchen (my daily victory, haha). Enjoy feeling lighter and sexier! Achieve goals because you can! You won't be in the 180's for forever :)

:hugs:

Wow I just realized how long that post ended up being. Sorry for the spiel, lol! I suppose I was in a bit of a contemplative mood.

Hi all!

Glad to see everyone is doing so well! Seeing all of your numbers going down is very encouraging!

I am starting Round 3 on Sunday, so I'm trying to get back into P2 mode. It helps to stay active on this board and read all of your posts. I'm excited to get back to losing weight. I enjoy being able to work on my running when I'm not on P2, but there's nothing more exciting than losing the weight. And I don't lose weight with running. But it is fun. :o)
