Genmaicha tea?
I have just fallen madly in love with this tea, and I'm not even a tea drinker.
It's a green tea that also incorporates some flavor from roasted rice. There's no actual rice in the tea, but I'm wondering if it's okay in P2. It has zero carbs (and zero everything else). I know people seem to drink many other flavored teas, including those with fruits that are not allowed on P2. Is it because they're just trace amounts? I want to make certain I have the correct answer on this tea! Last edited by buttah; 08-19-2012 at 10:26 PM.. |

I just looked it up on Wikipedia... the tea is created by mixing popped brown rice with tea leaves. There probably will be some starch that will seep into what you're drinking. It may stall you, it may not. It looks delicious; I would give it a shot and see what happens.
I don't know about those fruit teas. I generally don't like them; they taste too artificial for me. I did have jasmine tea this weekend and I've lost fine. I'm sure the flowers that they used in the tea probably had some trace of nectar on them. |

It has zero everything. I can't imagine how much of anything can seep in. Kind of like having papaya ice tea and worrying there are grams of papaya (also zero everything, btw), no? I guess I'll ask my clinic.

Hi buttah!
I was just wondering if you're still enjoying Genmaicha and if it has slowed down your weight loss. I'm planning on purchasing some so was looking around for feedback on the trace carbs Thanks! |

My clinic's doc and dietican (and HCG expert) cleared it, and I've had days both with and without it, having used it a lot more when I was starving in the beginning. I actually think the days with it were better loss-wise, but I'm fairly sure that's just a coincidence. I don't think it had any impact. Flavored teas with 0 calories and 0 carbs, 0 everything really are okay. The nurse at my clinic (who has done HCG) had passion ice tea every day.

thanks, buttah!
I was a bit disappointed today- I got a sample from Palais des Thes and really did not enjoy the taste. Tasted a bit fishy to me...shame because I wanted to like it In any case, loads of tea to choose from- I might be a little obsessed! |

I use the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf brand of Genmaicha. You can buy it on Amazon, too. Nothing fishy about it. Plain green tea can be that way, though (not Jasmine Green tea, which is lovely, too.)
