Immunity to HCG
The reason for limiting a course to 40 injections is that by then some patients may begin to show signs of HCG immunity. Though this phenomenon is well known, we cannot as yet define the underlying mechanism. Maybe after a certain length of time the body learns to break down and eliminate HCG very rapidly, or possibly prolonged treatment leads to some sort of counter-regulation which annuls the diencephalic effect. After 40 daily injections it takes about six weeks before this so called immunity is lost and HCG again becomes fully effective. Usually after about 40 injections patients may feel the onset of immunity as hunger which was previously absent. In those comparatively rare cases in which signs of immunity develop before the full course of 40 injections has been completed-say at the 35th injection- treatment must be stopped at once, because if it is continued the patients begin to look weary and drawn, feel weak and hungry and any further loss of weight achieved is then always at the expense of normal fat. This is not only undesirable, but normal fat is also instantly regained as soon as the patient is returned to a free diet. Patients who need only 23 injections may be injected daily, including Sundays, as they never develop immunity. In those that take 40 injections the onset of immunity can be delayed if they are given only six injections a week, leaving out Sundays or any other day they choose, provided that it is always the same day. On the days on which they do not receive the injections they usually feel a slight sensation of hunger. At first we thought that this might be purely psychological, but we found that when normal saline is injected without the patient's knowledge the same phenomenon occurs. Interesting, but the most important point that I get from this is that i dont want to regain the fat... I guess I understand the concept but immunity has always been hard for me to understand too. I have felt exhausted at the end of a round, just tired ingeneral... maybe this is what they mean?

Managed to scrape off 2.8 lbs last week. The week before that was tortuously slow, but I managed to hang in there. I have six more days with HCG, then the 72 hours and THEN......P3!
Here's to a good week for everybody! |

Well I've started R3 ... I'm on VLCD4 ... I've taken off 9.8lbs so far this week.
I'm curious to know how different were each of the rounds for you. Did you notice a difference in weightloss patterns. Did each round become difficult or did they vary? My first round was a breeze, my round 2 was HORRIBLE, and R3 is somewhat easy ... I will have to look back on my other rounds as to my weightloss beginnings. I'm really hoping that in 40days I will loose 24lbs; however, I know that it is most likely to be 16 - 20lbs ... we'll see |

Checking in after being MIA for a couple of weeks. Survived my vacation (somehow) and am back to taking more off!!! I am down 10 lbs in 5 days. I think it is flying off because I have just been this weight and my body is used to being lower LOL. Anyhow, let's have a great week of releases!! I know I am ready!!
coffeecups---my round #2 was horrible. I was hungry every single day, but still lost weight. First round was the best ever!!! 3rd went as well as the first. |

Okay, so today is VLCD5 ... I am down 10.8 - HOWEVER, I had gone away for the long weekend and GAINED! *ugh* ... But that's okay
I'm finding that if I can have ALL my water drank by supper that I seem to lose better - now that could just be my imagination working overtime - or it's HOPING that's what's doing it ... LOL |

Well, I'm officially back in P2 y'all! Loaded this weekend (well, that and half of last week..
) and am ready to get this weight loss party started! After eating so much crap I feel like a bloated whale! Can't wait to feel flatter again. And I'm hoping my round 2 isn't as terrible as some of yours! I should also note that I'm planning a week-long interruption after 25 days to be prepared for my aunt visiting and a couple of parties, and then I'll jump back in and shoot for finishing out my vial. I'm not actually weighing myself until my last dose before the PI, which will be September 6. OMG I know!! It's gonna be weird but hopefully relaxing down the road?Dawn and coffeecups -- Holy moly, I hope I can lose 10 lbs in 5 days too!

Hi guys!
After two vacations and stabilizing higher than I'd like, I'm back on the P2 bandwagon with y'all! Today is day one and I'll be weighing tomorrow to see if day one gets me even close to where I was PRE-load, Saturday morning! I also spent a LOT of last week "loading" but at least it was (for the most part) fantastic homemade food with family so for me it was worth it. Looking forward to getting back to LDW or close to it of last round and easing into P3... |

that is a reason why it was so fast. I also got this close to sun poisoning during my first vacation that I think last week I was finally letting go of my inflammation. I was so swollen and sore I could not even bend my knee. It was soooo painful to have that burn. Let this be a lesson to you all---use sunscreen people. I used none and with being on a lake and no shade whatsoever Oooh, the pain I was in. So combine those 2 and the weight just whooshed off. Now, I am on TOM so I don't believe I will have any other whooshes for a while but it was fun while it lasted!!!! Yeah for being back in P2 ![]()

Good Morning All!!
So great to familiar faces! @shelby, @dawn!- Hi guys! Today is only day 2 of vlcd but I have questions if anyone can help? Yesterday - vlcd 1, I was doing great - really busy day lots of running around, I was drinking water but could have drank more, had a nice salad with chicken around 2 and then BOOOOM! at 4pm a headache like I have never felt came on! I was surprised because I have done juice fasts etc... and never felt like this! Now I am in day 2 and the headache is still lingering. Im guessing this is normal? Wondering how long I will have this? I have just never had it come on so soon! I did have a nice 3.5 pound loss overnight - that helps the pain of my head! That being said.....I love this way of eating and wish I would eat like this, (choose these foods) forever! i was able to fit in a 3 mile walk/run this morning but realize that I might not be able to continue that the whole round. Hope everyone has a great day! I will check in to read the updates! |

So this morning I'm down 1.6 lbs and its my 8th day on vlcd... I'm happy with that. I cut out the sf toriani syrup but I did have some walden farms sf ketchup. The end of the month will be 28 days, I will see where I am at that point and decide what to do. Typically I will loose 15 more pounds in the next 18 days but you never know what might happen. Have a good day all =) Lara |
