I was so tired of spending an hour A day on my hair so In 2007 i decided to try Japanese Thermal Reconditioning. It's permanent (unlike keratin) and it makes your hair pin straight which means its totally wash and go! The down side is that I can't style it, it doesn't hold a curl now so it's quite boring but I still prefer it this way!

Just had it done a week ago today. I go once a year. 7 hours in the salon!!!
Nice!!! I can do those on myself. I did it once and quite liked it. Just never got around to doing it again. I've been straightening mine since 7th grade as well! That was when my mom finally let me wield my own flat iron lol

My last client tomorrow rescheduled her appointment so now I'm off even earlier tomorrow so I'm super relieved. More time to do my own pedicure and stuff now. I still have to make my list for packing my bag!

I'm starting P3 on Sunday and went grocery shopping today, but had a bit of trouble.

I've seen people talking about eating full fat dressings, and plenty of bacon, but I did not see a single dressing (fat, light or not) that did not have sugar or starch of some kind in it. I also did not see a single kind of bacon that did not have sugar in the ingredients list.

I'm not quite sure what's up with this lol.

I have curly hair too!! It's a little courser because I'm half Cuban but a nice curl. I had it under control with pretty low maintenance when I lived in Chicago but I moved to LA and my hair is DRY and falling out!

Not sure what to do other than start taking biotin. Any suggestions?

Bacon is actually very difficult to find without any sugar. It's possible though! I've gotten some from Whole Foods before. I think many people secretly get bacon cured with some sugar because it's such a small amount Dressings are also possible, but you have to go with a smaller brand that has more "natural" dressings or make it yourself. I have two dressings in my fridge right now that are both sugar-free and delicious: Drew's Greek Olive and Annie's Organic Green Garlic. (Annie's Artichoke Parmesan is also YUMMY!) Those types of product lines will carry some dressings that are sugar-free, but you have to read the labels to figure out which ones.

When I buy processed foods, I simply look for reasonably low-sugar varieties - bacon, dressings, etc. - figure that there will always be a little bit of added sugar but try to keep total carbs down.

We typically eat simple meals - grilled meats, vegetables with butter, and lots of salads - so no added sugars. I like to add a bit of balsamic vinegar (some sugar there, but not a lot - and the taste is worth it!) and olive oil to my salads - with some home-grown herbs (oregano, chives, basil, etc.) - no added sugars there. A salad of tomatoes/avocado/red onion over cottage cheese, with a slice of crisp bacon - and oil/vinegar and herbs added - makes a fairly low-carb meal and really tastes good!

I keep bacon as an occasional treat - rarely eat processed foods, that keeps the sugar down. I think it's tastier, healthier, and probably a lot cheaper to avoid processed foods as much as possible.

I didn't get a flat iron until after college (they really weren't big back then) so I used one of those conair blow dryers that had the brush attachements and I would BLOW DRY/ BRUSH it straight. SOOO damaging and drying. And then I'd take a curling Iron to the ends. I was also bleach blonde from 7th grade until my Sophomore year of college so all that processing left me with FRIED hair!

It's boring now but it looks healthy and that's what counts right?

Yay for the extra primping time tomorrow! He's going to fall to the floor when he sees you.

Kayla, most bacon has a little sugar but you can usually get away with a tiny bit, just don't over do it. There are hidden sugars and carbs in most things but you can do your best to avoid them. Like Sausage often has fillers and starches so I don't eat it all the time but I do have some.

As for dressing, If it has less than 3g of sugar I usually go for it.

Eating out is where you can get into the most trouble b/c you really don't know what's in your food and as julie pointed out about the soups, they often put flour in sauces to thicken them!

Oh man I want sweet tomatoes now!! They have this one dressing, I think it's roasted garlic that is sooo good. They also have this soup during the Asian month they do it's a ginger broth and it's yum city. Think I'm going to make my husband take me there soon... lol.

I had five guys for dinner. Such a good burger. Hope I did ok with my eating today! I tried but I did have some of that pumpkin bake I made and a few spoons of almond butter.

Ok question, is there a way to delete or edit an old post? I went to delete something and the edit button is not there anymore?

ok, so I don't have to literally put back something that might have sugar listed as the last ingredient, as long as I am only using it in moderation.

Unfortunately I live in a very small town with only 1 place to shop for groceries - Target.

My options for foods have been VERY limited.

For the most part I'd say yes but if every thing you're eating has a little sugar, it adds up. If you eat a little bacon a few times a week it shouldn't be too much trouble. But a big part of P3 (in my experience especially) is figuring out how different foods effect you. Keep in mind that the first week you may slowly gain but you will start to stabilize after a few days.

I was freaking out at first b/c I was gaining .5 a day and got to the very top of my window. But then I dropped 2lbs and I'm now just under my LIW so I think My body is finally used to the extra fat and calories!

Look for packages of bacon labeled low sodium. I've found that those usually don't have sugar as an ingredient.

I wish I could find one that is sugar-free AND nitrate-free. It seems to be either or.

At the top of my window... the very very top! Not over, though. Ate WAAAYYYY to much last night, and was fully expecting a CD today, but I will reserve that for when I go over LDW. Had GY for breakfast, will prolly skip lunch, and then have a nice salad and maybe chicken thighs or a crustless quiche type thing for dinner. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I usually go to Fantastic Sams w. a coupon for a cut, but use the Groupons for color. Too much $ w/o it!!

I hear ya!! Move to AZ (desert) from PA, but I love it now!! I use leave in conditioner and HIGHLY recommend Paul Mitchell's super skinny serum. I love that stuff, it's magic!! I also take biotin. My dry overprocessed hair is passable, even called "healthy" at times. But, it's shorter now too (trying to grow it in).

Keeping it clean, but realizing that I do better w. higher carbs these days. I'm happy

Hope you're all doing well. I couldn't get LCFs to work earlier today. Had a lovely long post .

VT and Dbunny, at least your not over your window right? Just a few days on plan and you'll be back down I"m sure.

Julie what is Annes? Enjoy Sweet Tomatoes. I would suggest it to my hubby but I know he'll say no. It's a bit of a drive and we hate to go far since we have the little one.

I wanted to go out to dinner last night but we had to run errands and by the time we were done it was LO's bed time so we picked up Five Guys burgers and that was it. Tonight I suggested going to Outback but Husband doesn't want to go anywhere so I think we'll just grill some steaks which is fine by me!

I'm amazed to be holding at the same weight for 3 days in a row. 163.8 (.2 under LDW) What I love about it is that I"ve been having a fairly liberal amount of nuts and fruit and it's not causing me trouble which is such a relief! I have really turned a corner with P3. Not hating it. I think I'll treat myself to some frozen yogurt after I put my son to bed. Yeah. A little tiny cheat and see what happens.

Went shopping with my girlfriend today and it felt nice to fit into things. I am not going to buy much b/c I want to wait until I do one more round and hit my goal. No use in having clothes that are too big right?

Off to Fresh market to pick up dinner (and some sugar free chocolate covered almonds he he he) Have a great weekend all.

That's incredibly cheap. My dog's grooming is at least $50 LOL!!!!

There seems to be a big difference between the USA and Canada when it comes to prices. I get my industry magazines from the States and I routinely see pedicures going for $25 or $30, whereas my nicest pedicure I offer is about $66, and some places here can run you $90. That said, it does cost a lot more to import many of our products to Canada, therefore we must charge more. Everything is more expensive here. But we are also taxed less.

One of the ladies in the hair salon downstairs charges $70 to start. She's one of the most incredible hair stylists I've ever met, and she regularly travels the world learning the latest and greatest techniques from celebrity stylists. A good stylists is hard to come by. HANG ON TO THEM!

Anyways, I have been a basket case all day waiting for tomorrow to come. I've cried like 4 times. I'm like an emotional bride or pregnant lady or something (i'm neither of those LOL)

I was looking for a birthday card for him in the pharmacy and I found the most perfect one and I burst out into tears in aisle 5. LOL I got myself some waterproof mascara too because I know I'm going to be a complete and utter mess in the airport tomorrow. It's all happy crying though. I just can't wait to snuggle up in his arms. The only stuff I have left to do is do my own pedicure after dinner, and then shower and finish packing in the morning.

Meanders today is the big day! Have the greatest time!

I'm up .8 today (.6 over LIW) not sure why since I didn't even cheat with the fro yo like I was thinking of doing. Good thing bc If I had had it I would have assumed that was the cause for the gain!

I think my calories were too high yesterday - I over did it with nuts and I cooked with a lot of oil so maybe that is an issue too?

Will try and behave today!

Reddy-good to hear froyo isn't to blame! Likely just normal fluctuation!! Hope you have a great day!!

Manders-have a lovely weekend! Looking forward to pics!

I'm down 0.8 to LDW+1 today! I'm quite happy w/ that!! I'm enjoying the full range of "window" this round and feeling like I'm stabilizing. I even had close to 2000 calories yesterday (including a generous portion of froyo )! God is good!

Have a blessed day, take it 1 day at a time ladies!
