Adeline, don't you just hate it when the scale bounces up and gives you a higher number than the day before?! It's distracting and frustrating. But, as we all know, that scale only tells us ONE thing about how we are doing - a single number - and nothing more. It doesn't tell us how we feel, what we are worth, how far we have come, etc. (I am saying this to myself, you know - because my scale was up this morning too...and it's just irritating!)
I tried a 'mini-steak' day yesterday, and I had no results whatsoever. Looks like I have to just keep plugging along and wait for my body to cooperate. I wonder why you've been hungry lately? Do you think something you ate has triggered cravings or hunger? (I get that way when I eat sugar or starch - I feel hungrier and have cravings for up to three days.) |

tomorrow I'm increasing my calories to 750 and no injection, the next day it will be increasing to 1000 and adding a bit of clean fats and 2 eggs. I'm kind of excited. I think this was wearing me thin. The next day I'll be doing 1250 keeping p2 type foods but mixing my veggies. then I'll be doing 1500 the next day and increasing my protein to 8-10 oz.
Then next day 1750 and I can add other proteins fruits and veggies. and I'll be staying at this calorie level for a few days. then I'll be going back to p2, I'm assuming I'll be loading for a few days. Maybe that will give me the boost I need.

Adeline, I want to "reboot" and start fresh too. I'm discouraged.
Wish I could do the reboot along with you. I have another vial I haven't mixed yet and I don't know whether to keep going ei this or just give it a break. |

Here's what my coach told me to do to reboot, actually it's free on her website. Let's connect by email. I'll point you to those instructions okay? Its on her site if you google her. It's basically a gradual increase in calories and adding what she calls "clean fats". My last injection day I did the 500, only berries as my fruit, one chicken meal, one fish meal 3.5 oz each. I cup cooked veggie, 1 cup raw veggie. up to 1/4 c organic half and half making sure no carganeen in the ingredients. The next day (yesterday) I did 750 by increasing my fats by adding 1 tbsp of no sugar mayo to my food and half an avocado. No weight gain this morning. Today I did 1000 cal. and I was aloud to add 2 eggs and I cooked them in CO. I kinda had a messed up day cause we had guests over and I was starved by the time I ate and I had the co, 1 tsp of sour cream and 1 avocado to my food. tomorrow will be 1250.

So I did my first correction day today. I'm doing one from BIZ alternative CD's. I picked the everybody's favorite one that seems like a kind of fat fast. I'm on antibiotics. I had a horrific tooth ache yesterday and was told I need a bunch of root canals YOY. I'm taking tons of Advil and I drank a half mug of whiskey last night. Thank God I woke up much better and no hang over. I'm totally not a drinker at all! I hated the thought of it, but the dentists didn't give me any pain med and they wanted to do an emergency root canal but this whole thing blew up in my mouth after a failed attempt at getting a crown that's been a long drawn out mess. So I don't know how that whole thing really panned out in terms of my weight. I was really .4 below 2 lbs but I figured with all that I have working against me, I needed to run to the nearest CD day possible!

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about your toothache!
I truly hope you get to feeling better soon. Mouth pain is one of the worst! Let me know how your correction day goes! |

Adeline, how do you reconcile a BIZ CD with Robin's philosophy - or do you? No judgement whatsoever, just curious!

honestly, I have been so desperate for an answer, a solution to my yo yo weight loss/gain that I am willing to try almost anything. I knew I needed a support system of some sort. I reached out to Robin's office and I think they forgot about me. I bumped into BIZ and when she offered coaching, I immediately jumped on board. I know Biz doesn't totally agree with Robin. I'll follow whoever can show me the way. I'm unfortunately not seeing lots of people getting the results they want trying the eating only when hungry stopping when full. Perhaps I've thrown in the towel with Robin at the moment. Perhaps it's for later when I can get my weight down again. I still hear a call to FREEDOM. I just need whatever works. No worries, I only feel acceptance and support from you and others on this sight and I'm an open book.

thanks dear for your concern and kindness. I didn't lose anything, but I didn't gain either which was a relief. I hope to start my official coaching with biz soon but she wants me a full week before starting another round. I want to follow directions and do it her way. My major issue is I cannot battle my dental health and body weight at the same time, so I'm going to see what to do about my mouth. the antibiotics are buying me at least a bit of time. they wanted me to do an emergency root canal, but that would have to have a crown, which I'm already having issues with a crown that was just done and it set off a forest fire in my mouth.
I'm praying for wisdom and healing. |

I can only say that having once succeeded long term with this WOE, I know it works. Lost 20+ pounds and kept them off for years and years. I ate what I wanted, but rarely let myself get that full feeling. In fact, I learned to loathe that full feeling because I knew it meant jeopardizing my stability and health. Of course, whether I can do it after getting to goal at age 55, after all these years of carrying pregnancy weight around, remains to be seen. Believe me! Best of luck getting through your dental issues and what not. I am having a deep cleaning beginning next week, in three appointments. I hope it does the trick!

I've been in ketosis all week from eating high fat, moderate protein, low carb...and my hunger is super low. I don't feel a bit deprived. LOVING IT. Also, I am still losing weight! I am on an "interruption" currently (a fat fast) and will resume hcg on Tuesday. |

I think, for some people, the eating to hunger/stopping when not hungry thing works really well -- but I think that for others, this isn't the case. As we all know, not everyone who struggles with a weight problem eats in excess of their hunger ... in fact, many live on near starvation diets much of the time, are in a constant state of hunger, and still struggle to lose anything at all. Not everyone with a weight problem is addicted to feeling full -- not by any means.
There are so many factors that go into whether a body will, or will not, shed lbs... if the hunger scale is the answer for someone, then that is fantastic! But I don't think it is the be all, end all solution for everyone.

Sorry for asking this in two threads, but can someone remind me what Robin says dealing with hunger that arrives well before "lunch time?" Should I just eat lunch at 10:45 (my coffee/grapefruit was 7am)? I'm too hungry to search the book!
It's only VLCD2, so I'm praying the rxHCG just hasn't fully "kicked in" yet. |

buttah,
I thought the rule was to eat when you're hunger is around 3.5 - no matter when that is. Here is a quote from WLA: "Hunger is the communication to the conscious mind when food is hormonally necessary - and when it is not. During the very low-calorie protocol, it is imperative that the participant eats according to this signal, and stops eating when the signal of hunger diminishes. The appropriate functional range for when to eat a snack would start at a 4 (on the hunger scale) and end at 5. When eating a meal, start at 3.5 and end at 5.5. Some people make the mistake of not eating past a 5, and they find they feel slight hunger all day, and it increases in intensity by the end of the day." |

Right, but on P2, you only have 500 calories to use in order to remove hunger. Her book says (somewhere, and in the Mind Body Method workbook I have) that you may not always succeed at removing hunger in P2. The part you're quoting is general HS eating. Since the HCG hasn't really "kicked in" yet (it seems) for me, I'm in a bit of a bind. I guess I just have to be hungry and hope the next days are better.

Robin says in many of her videos that there isn't an absence of hunger during the hcg protocol.
I was definitely hungry throughout the protocol - but it was manageable. Good luck! |

Hmmmm. If I were to be hungry throughout the entire protocol, I would be worried that my body is burning muscle because the hunger would indicate to me that the HCG isn't forcing it to use fat. And I would begin to suspect that this may be why so many people gain HCG-lost weight back. I don't want to think that way! I want to believe it works the way it's theorized to!

Just checked WLA! Robin is all about diving up meals and snacks and eating when you're at 3.5. So I'm doing that from here on out, if need be.
Melloyello, congrats on that! I guess there's no way it could all be muscle! How has keeping it off been for you? |

Is your clinic measuring your body composition? That way you'll know if you start losing muscle mass.
I break up all my food. Today I ate a breadstick and a bottle of water. Then several hours later I had my meatloaf and cabbage. Now I'm feeling hungry again so I'm going to have an apple. We're having a family movie night and the kids are getting ready to make popcorn. Ugh! The smell will be torture. Popcorn is one of my all time favorite foods! But I can have it in 6 weeks or so. . . . |

christyb, my family made bacon last night. I rarely eat bacon (ate it on loading), but man that smell was torture on VLCD1.
My clinic does not measure body fat. I kind of want to run out and get that done. I may also buy a body fat scale, like yesterday. |

I have heard that the Omron hand held body composition things work best. They are fairly inexpensive on amazon. I don't have one because I do it at my doc's.
Oh and the smell of bacon. . . . that would be tough! |
