I made the best cocoa crack

And have to share!

I was looking at all the recipes and not happy with any of the ones I'd made. This one, on the other hand, was excellent dark chocolate cocoa crack.

1 cup coconut oil, softened and slightly melty, but not liquid
2 scoops vanilla protein powder (I used muscle milk because I had some on hand)
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 ounce (2 tbsp) vanilla sf coffee syrup
1/2 cup flaked, unsweetened coconut
1 cup almond slivers

Mix it up in a bowl until well combined, spread in pan, refrigerate (do NOT freeze, this screws up the consistency).

This was by far the best tasting mix I've made - not too rich or oily, sweet but not cloying, good mouthfeel. Love! The only downside might be that it makes sixteen servings at right around 200 calories a piece, But they're big pieces

Can't wait to try this since EVERY SINGLE recipe I've ever tried (and I've tried a lot!) have been horrid tasting to me! I am what is known as a "super taster" so things that taste a little sweet or bitter to regular people taste extra sweet or bitter to me!

I am not a super taster but the da vinci's is mellowed on my tongue than stevia or sucrolose powder, in terms of aftertaste. The protein powder can be tasted a bit, which is why you should pick one you already like. It gives the recipe more body and absorbs some of the oil, so it hold together better.

Let me know if it passes your muster when you try it!

Yeah, I can totally do the SF vanilla syrup since I sometimes put it in my coffee for a treat (so funny what we consider a treat in P2 LOL). I also usually use Jay Robb egg white protein powder so I'd just use that since I really like it. Thanks again for sharing!

I am simple, I use a cup of cocoa, the best dark chocolate powder I can find, 3/4 c of coconut oil, tsp vanilla, and 10 pks of stevia. Mix it up, pour it on a foil covered paper plate and let chill and crack. It does in a pinch! I am doing a sloppy p-2 to loose the last 7 lbs, and it works for me if I have a big chocolate craving')

When not in P2, I use crack for a measured amount of coconut oil (my goal is 3 tablespoons/day) - thus I carefully measure the oil (with a scale) add cocoa powder and the liquid sweetener drops - mix and bring to a taste that I like - then I measure the amount in each mini-muffin depression - then I add chopped nuts, coconut flakes, cereal/granola (low-carb, of course) bits, etc. - push the additions under the liquidy part, then refrigerate and knock out - put in a plastic bag and keep refrigerated ...

Thus, whenever I don't add enough CO to my food throughout the day, I have a tasty evening treat.

Guess I'm not a "super-taster" - this tastes pretty good as is, though I will definitely try adding some protein powder to it ...

Cocoa crack sounds really good I had come acroos a recipe for cocoa crack on P2...but cannot find it. I believe it was a spoon each of cocoa powder & xylitol...mixed with some water....heated in micro & frozen until hardened.

I'm wondering how this would affect P2? Anyone know? I have a ladies function to go to on Friday night...everyone brings a dish & dessert. Perhaps I could make this for me?????

Eh, it's totally unsuited for P2 in pretty much every way. Sliced strawberries and whipped cream, with you skipping the cream, is a much better idea

OK...TY. I wasn't sure since everything is sugar-free...I noticed it had would have less than 20 calories, but the chocolate was the mystery. I have strawberries as my main fruit majority of the time...lol...kinda ready for some blueberries & blackberries

I consider it on plan. I think of cocoa as a spice and it won't harm you--it hasn't me. I also believe that Dr S allowed for sweeteners. My opinion. If it comes down to that treat above or digging into a really off plan brownie---go with what is allowed!! Or at least a bit more on plan than not

Oh, ok! I didn't think of it as a spice. The chocolate was my fear...I rarely use sweeteners...only Stevia for my "apple pie" I may try it Friday night.

BTW...I found Louanna Coconut Oil at WM...it was in a different container that I didn't expect...will be using it in a few weeks on P3

Trust me, cocoa powder is a spice! It is very bitter and very unappealing if you try it without any sweetener. I do not even think it is fatty. My cocoa powder is very low fat-- 0.5 grams of fat in 1 TBL. So I think it is OK. I have it every day on P2--in my coffee. Like I said, it hasn't hurt me.

The amount of cocoa in cocoa crack would be an issue. If you keep it to a teaspoon or less per day I don't think you'd have problems, but more than that and I'd be stalling out big time (ask me how I know this!).

A teaspoon in a mug with some da vinci's hazelnut syrup (sugar free, of course) and hot water makes a good hot cocoa in a pinch, but I'd only recommend that in an emergency. As I said, a platter of P2 approved fruit is a much safer bet

There is a hot cocoa recipe in the P2 thread. I have not tried it, but others who have say it is yummy I say try it!

xylitol is a little iffy because it has a few calories. Maybe it's the fillers, but NOW brand has 10 cal per tsp. Table sugar is 16 cal per tsp. If you do use xylitol, I highly recommend that you grind it in a coffee grinder first. It does not melt well if you keep the granules as they are. Using hot water in your recipe, and adding the cocoa after you've whisked the xylitol in the water, might be the way to go. Maybe you could make some and chill it, and then use a carrot peeler to make strips, or chunk it up with a knife and pour it over a bowl of hulled strawberries.

Maybe you could use xylitol for half of the amount of sweetner, and then fill in with liquid stevia. 4-7 drops equals a tsp of sweetness for the stevia.

Cocoa is fine for P2, but as I said above, I'm questioning the xylitol.
Regular crack, with the coconut oil is, IMO, totally out for P2.

I make my Cocoa Crack in silicone muffin cups. I use 1 tbsp coconut oil, 1 tsp cocoa, 1 dropper of flavored stevia per muffin cup, stir, then chill in the fridge until firm. Pop out of cups and freeze. Nuts and coconut are nice additions too.

Stop eating coconut oil in P2! Seriously, it's not for P2. If you're in P3, drop it for a couple of days and see what happens.
