Coconut oil...
I am looking into using coconut oil. I never have used it, nor have I ever seen it as I recall.
Where do you find it? Are there different versions of it...such as olive oils being virgin/extra virgin, etc.? Do you use it to fry everything? Does it have a coconut taste when cooking/baking with it? I looked at Walmart, but did not see it. I have markets like TJ's (don't carry it), Central Market...kinda like whole foods (haven't checked here yet). I have Albertsons (haven't checked yet). I hear such good things about it...maybe someone can chime in and advise me. Thanks!!! ![]()

I get my coconut oil from Tropical Traditions. But if you want to see if you like it, get it from Walmart. It is in the cooking oils section and the brand is Louana. It has no taste, but you can fry with it and see what you think. THen you can be more adventurous and branch out. I can find Nutiva at my Walmart in the same section....cooking oils. That one tastes just like coconuts.

![]() ![]() My Walmart is the supercenter. We don't have any other kinds around here, so I don't know. I know I was just in the supermarket today and they had Louana. You can try your local supermarket too. I just said walmart because everyone has a walmart, but if yours isn't a super one......I wouldn't know if they have it or not. |

Wilderness family naturals is having a sale on it. You can try googling them to see their great prices!!! That is the virgin kind so I hope you don't mind the taste of coconuts.

I just read up on the Tropical Traditions...it is like Crisco...I was looking at the liquid oils...that might be my problem with finding it ![]() I love coconut...but I don't know if I would want that for frying chicken wings, etc. Do you use it for everything? So..."Virgin" has the coconut taste...is that what I need to watch for. I'd honestly like to try both. |

I use coconut oil for EVERYTHING.....absolutely everything. I oil pull with it (in my mouth); I use it on my face (not in P2) as a moisturizer; I put it on my armpits before applying deodorant so that I don't stink, a lotion for everywhere on my body. My DH puts it in his hair like a hair gel. That is the virgin stuff. The expeller pressed (which Louana is) has no taste of coconut, so that is the best to fry/bake with. It is awesome!!!! I use it in my recipes because too much of the coconut is not a good thing LOL.
