I've always considered snap peas to be generally okay. They're not very carby :] 7.5g per 100g of peas..and you probably won't eat even close to that much

Ah okay. I went back up by 1.4 today. I did have a bit of extra protein yesterday so that probably didn't help. It's so unbelievably hot and humid here right now and I'm feeling super weak. It drains all my energy just to go up the stairs. Every time I stand up, I just about pass right out.

That makes almost 12 lbs in two weeks. Woohoo!! I love this protocol. Thank you all for encouraging me to keep going. The only thing i did different was eat beef and crab the last two days. I was terrifed of eating beef, i thought it would be to heavy. I haven't even pooped in two days. Im so pumped.

Happy releases!!
See! Have faith. What kind of crab are you eating?

I am going to try eating the meat and veggies, butter and cream sour cream etc. But should I eat till I am full or just eat a normal serving like 1/2c and 4oz of meat

I am open to suggestions!

I had my bacon today and burnt it then went to throw it in the trash.Started to go down the concrete steps (three of them) and slipped as I had spllied the grease and didn't realize it. My feet went flying out from under me and I landed directly on my back right in the middle of the steps hitting my back really hard. I thought I was going to passout. Then the skillet came down and hit me on my leg and burned it.Now I have blisters all over the front of my right leg.

Just great for starting my vacation. I think I am ok... but boy I wasn't sure at first.
I certainly am sore and my back really hurts but I will be ok. I think I will go to the Dr. before we leave.I'll check back and let you all know if I did any damage. I also jammed my left big toe into the closet now it feels sore too. OH the joys of getting old
I hope you're okay!!!!!!!! Falling on your back on the edge of a stair could be seriously damaging!!!!! Please do get checked by the doc. When I fell in Dec 2010, I didn't get an MRI until my back got really bad in May of 2011 and by that point I was in need of emergency surgery to repair it. Thankfully the doctors decided at the last moment not to do surgery, but I'm STILL healing.

Sugar snap peas, in pod, are pretty fibrous. A half cup serving of them would be fine on P3, but don't do more than that each day or you're pushing it.

Bummer on the scale bounce, but the heat probably isn't helping it, either. Just stay cool and let the scale take care of itself.

Definitely. I'm not too freaked out about it, but it's annoying for sure. I can already tell the antibiotics are wreaking havoc on my poor tummy. I'm quite bloated and gassy today. But they are really important meds for my skin so I'm kinda stuck taking them for the next while here.

I feel like I'm dying in this heat and humidity. My poor Canadian self is not equipped for this kind of weather. Give me snow! lol

I went to My Chiropracter and I had three ribs out and three joints locked up and my neck was out but he fixed me right up. I am really sore and stiff though

The other two that are amazingly useful and in the same vein are

-The Don't Go Hungry Diet by Amanda Sainsbury-Salis (one of the foremost researchers on leptin, her book is like Robin's without the hcg component and an incredible, sensible read) and

-The Perfect Health Diet by Paul and Shou-Ching Jaminet. That one is probably the most well researched and nutritionally balanced diet I have seen, with every key nutrient in the sweet spot between deficiency and toxicity, and very non inflammatory. I also has ketogenic fasts included, which is a useful tool.

I am doing my maintenance with the Perfect Health Diet by Robin and Amanda's satiety scale principles. It's like the perfect triad, but it took me three years to come upon all three resources. I started my journey with the Don't Go Hungry Diet and got away from it, which was stupid. But I became convinced I could lose faster with the calorie game. Unfortunately that was true, but it also enabled continuing my food and emotional issues and taught me to ignore my body's cues. Bad ju ju. Now I've come full circle thanks to Robin reminding me of what is crucial for maintenance. I wasn't ready to enact all that information a few years and 90-some odd pounds ago, but I am now
I am also a fan of the Jaminet's "Perfect Health Diet". It makes so much sense, doesn't it? I am also a big fan of Dallas & Melissa Hartwig, and their book, "It Starts With Food". Now that is an awesome read!

That sounds good. What form do you buy it in? Fresh or canned? I need to expand my choice of meat. Chicken is getting old and when I buy beef, I eat the entire pound of meat in one day lol

OMG! you poor thing. I had one rib out once and that was soooo painful, I can't imagine having 3 out!

Keep an eye on it. You'll probably be sore for quite a while. Ice Ice baby! lol

One of my casual acquaintances went to SEMO for university, so I've heard all about the heat and humidity lol I really am SO canadian it's ridiculous. I never really complain unless it's 40 below. Anything above room temperature is hot to me.

Has anyone ever gotten REALLY bad shakes? I'm not sure if my blood sugar is low or if it's because of the heat, but I'm extremely shaky right now.

It sounds like low blood sugar to me.I have diabetes 2 and if I don't eat I get the shakes, inside you can't actually see them... but I can feel it.Feels weird too.
Try eating an orange since we can't have juice or an apple and see if that helps the shaky feeling

OH good. I know how that feels and sometimes I carry a piece of candy with me. I know it's off protocol but that's better than passing out.

My bliod sugar has went fro over 200 to 98-115 fasting so it is really getting better. I am so glad too. When I get home I am making a DR appointment for completr blood work to see if I can get off my medicatons. He doesn't know I have lost weight.

Interesting. I'll have to look into those. I have NROLW and there are some things I like about it. It's got some good exercises described, and I like the challenge for women to lift heavy. There are some exercises recommended which I don't think are ideal, and their later works contradict their original recommendations.
I echo your enthusiasm on Robin's book. How simple? Eat when hungry, stop when satisfied. Wish I still had that intuition. Gotta' practice the "scale" but making progress.

Berta-hope you're feeling better. Enjoy your trip!!

Good day here. Not much hunger at all!! Swam w. my friend and the kiddos. Kept me busy so I wasn't interested in food. Made a nice dinner for the fam, enjoyed some chicken lettuce wraps, and am now having a nice glass of iced tea b/4 bed. I hope all the rest of my P2 days goes this easliy. It'd be a nice bonus to lose 10 more lbs. We'll see how far it'll go.

OMG, OMG- what to do, what to do??

You remember that girlfriend I told you about- the one with the cake? Well, she is impressed with my success so far and went out and bought some hhCG yesterday from a local naturopath. I've been discussing the protocol with her and have sent her TONS of reference info- including Dr. S's Pounds and Inches, Diet Apocalypse, links to this forum and another, a PDF that outlines the entire protocol, etc. etc. etc.

So, this morning, I asked her what her game plan was- has she decided when she'll make the commitment, has she set a date for her load days, etc. She is going on vacation next week and I suggested that the last 2-3 days of it would be a GREAT time to load!!

What was her reply?
"Oh, I started yesterday and have had 4 doses. My guy said I will do really well on hhCG and 1200 calories a day"

I promptly told her that her 'guy' clearly doesn't understand the actions of hhCG OR the protocol... I warned her that she is attempting to lose 35 pounds by pretty much having 'load' days for a month!

How do I get through to her??? Normally, I would say.. hey, you're a big girl. But, she is one of my besties and I know she is in for a shock if she listens to that 'guy'.

=(

After a while she'll come around...then "gently" remind her of protocol. I have a friend (we've become more distant, tho) who does not EVER listen to me, even if I show her concrete proof...but if someone else tells her the same thing...she runs out & does it I've quit giving her advice lately...I have NOT told her I am doing hHCG...she would have a fit. She's about 5 hours away now...so she has not seen me since Jan., she will prolly want to know what I'm doing/using...lol. We are dieting buddies usually...

You get through to her with explaining the protocol is, first and foremost, not a diet. It has very specific instructions to make it work correctly and it alters your body's hormones and metabolism and isn't to be messed with. You then give her a printed out copy of "Pounds and Inches" and tell her to read it until she's memorized it, then proceed.

I can email you a copy if you need a clean one, just PM me. When it comes to getting people to stay on protocol information is power and most are not informed of the real nature of the protocol or understand how specific and dramatic it is. Once they do, they often either ditch the idea of trying it or learn the hard way, through cruddy rounds, that adherence is crucial!

I hope you're right! I have another friend who is the same way as yours- I would never tell her about hhCG because I *know* she would immediately dismiss it as "dangerous" and a number of other negative attitudes... before she even did the research herself. Ah, what are you going to do? I say, the proof is in the pudding! oooh, did I just say 'pudding'?

BTW- yay, me! I dropped another FULL pound since yesterday!! I guess that's not exactly a "whoosh" ????

morning ladies! I am down another pound today, so 9lbs thus far! I figure since i have plenty to lose this should be a pretty good round

I need to go back and read...but here is what happened yesterday...didn't eat nearly enough protein at lunch and am battling a lifelong struggle of the predinner munchies...so i ate more than 3oz of protein at dinner...but i figured it made up for my lack at lunch. Is that kosher to do?

My goodness Berta, that would have scared the life out of me! Glad to hear you are ok and on the mend! Oh the things we do for bacon

Happy Friday everyone!

Not sure what I'll tell her...lol. I will prolly have to tell her though...then she'll lecture me about the dangers...then find someone else to tell her it's great for them, then she'll go on it

Thank you, Taryl-

As I said, I have been pounding the protocol into her head for a couple of weeks now. I did tell her that this is not a diet.. that it is effectively a 'hormone tweak'. She said she understood- she read Pounds and Inches and all the other protocol info I gave her. The dingleberry she bought her hhCG from yesterday told her it was OK to do 1200 cals a day...and, it seems that everything I have said to her has gone up in smoke!

I suppose I should let her learn the hard way. Ugh.. she just told me that he also told her that it's ok if she stops taking her thyroid meds. (and no, he didn't run a blood or saliva tests on her either!) This guy needs to be ousted!! I told her she is really playing with hormone fire!!

Well, I'll see her tonight..and try again. If I can't get through to her- she'll have to suffer the consequences. I'll be there without an 'I told you so'- but, boy, will that take some tongue biting!!

It's not protocol, no, meals cannot be combined like that - however it isn't the end of the world at all and as far as cheats and off protocol choices go, extra protein is one of the least detrimental. Just don't make a habit foot and I doubt you'll have any issues

In that case, she's being willfully ignorant and will suffer the consequences. Just be there with useful advice and minimal to no I-told-ya-so's when the time comes

Down to 164.2, I'd be lower but I got about four hours of sleep and was on my feet all last night. Doesn't matter, I'm fine with it!

I stayed on plan all day and didn't even struggle particularly badly in the booth, with a candy dish and pistachios right in front of me. I kept assessing my hunger and commitment to the plan and decided I a) wasn't hungry and b) gain absolutely nothing from a cheat. I'm so done with emotional eating, now it is just the to make a stringer and stronger habit of assessing my satiety signals again. It is SO lovely to be in a place where I'm really ready to make big changes. Praise the Lord!
