New Member Here- just wanted to say Hello!

Hello, All

I just wanted to say hello and share my story thus far. I'm a 50 year young woman who has been in menopause for the last year and a half. I had been struggling with my hypothyroidism (Hashimoto's) since the birth of my son in 1988, but the whammy of menopause just sent my weight (and my confidence) into an uncontrollable upward spiral- no matter how well I ate and no matter how much I exercised. I have tried it all, including spending a couple thousand on bio-identical hormone replacement. I've never felt so completely defeated in my whole life!

Just a word on BIHR- I am so mad at my Integrative Health Care Provider! I went through the entire gambit of surveys and saliva/blood tests. I told her I was NOT having hot flashes or any of the other symptoms that go along with estrogen depletion. She insisted on putting me on estrogen/progesterone plus DHEA and a couple of other things. I felt like hooey!! And promptly gained 15 pounds- plus, the thyroid meds she placed me on were loaded with iodine; great for regular hypothyroidism- not so much for Hashimoto's! After my final saliva/blood work came back- I fired her. A friend told me about an over the counter bio-identical progesterone cream, Kokora. I've been using one $18 jar a month for three months and my numbers look better than ever!! I lost the 15 I had gained but, the scale has not moved since then. (January 2012) My point is.. she had to know that I simply needed a balancing cream- not the whole array of hormones she placed me on! Did I mention that she owns a large share of the compounding pharmacy? uh, yea.

So, fast forward. Since January, I have been following a 1200 calorie diet- moderate carb and fat, higher protein, and have been working out 3-5 hours a week- eating back about 75% of burned cals on work-out days. Have I lost weight? The same 3 pounds, over and over.

This past Friday, June 29, I began my first load day on hhcg. I lost .8 pounds over night. On the morning following the second load day, up 2.2 pounds- I can't believe it wasn't more...lol. I really took it to heart when I was told to LOAD!

Today is VLCD3 and I have lost 5 pounds so far!! This is the first time I've been below 170 in years!! I can not believe I am only now giving HCG a try.. what was I thinking?!

I am so happy to be here and look forward to hearing more about everyone's journey and sharing my own. Thank you, all!!

Just read your story and wanted to know how did you find out about hcg? We were talking about it at work today when I discovered my co-worker just started her hcg journey. I see you are in Greenville, not my town so you are not her LOL.

I have a girlfriend in the medical field and she was doing RX hCG last year.. she had no success but, honestly- I *know* she didn't follow protocol. I never gave it another thought until a male friend of mine told me that he recently lost 30 pounds using hhCG and following Dr. S's plan. I decided to read up on everything I could and made the decision to commit for 23-30 days and see if this was the right approach for me! So far, I am finding it quite satisfactory!! Exciting, even!!

Ah, I see. I did it when a member here on LCFs with adrenal issues such as mine, said she was doing it. I did one round and NEVER looked back! Good luck to you from a fellow Jersey girl. I was born in NY, raised in NJ and came to SC. I love it here!! But not so much this heat we have been having. Geesh I am used to hot, but this is just too hot too early.

Hello and welcome to the board!! I am 49 and also hypothyroid. I did my first round last May, and second round last August. My LDW was 151, and I went on to lose more weight. My stats to the left are updated daily. I used hhcg, intermountain pellets. This board has been a great source of support for me. Honestly, I don't think I could have done it without this board.

My ds lives in Greenville!! He moved there last August after graduating college here.
We were there in April of this year for a visit. Dawnyama(Dawn) and BigBravesFan(Lisa) came to meet me while I was there. They were so kind to drive over an hour each way just to meet me and spend time with me. It was FANTASTIC.

I think you are correct in saying your friend did not follow protocol. I spend way TOO much time on this board, and I have never read of anyone not losing on the RX following protocol. In fact, it is my opinion only that the RX'ers do a bit better. That is just my opinion . Hcg and hhcg works, but, it is NOT forgiving.

It's nice to meet you. Wishing you continued success.

Hi Marie!

Thank you for the welcome!!

LOL.. I said I *know* my friend didn't follow protocol b/c when she told about it- she was wiping chocolate cake off her face! Why she would spend that kind of money and not follow through, I don't know. Looking for a magic bullet that requires no effort, I suppose.

You'll have to let me know when you return to Greenville!

Oh, quick question: What is the proper format for stats? I see quite a few variations.. thanks!!

Too funny about the chocolate cake.

Ds and gf live over on Carolina Point Pkwy.....will definitely let you know when we are in the area again. Btw, we loved downtown Greenville.

Yes, will be joining the P2 thread today!!

Looking forward to it!

I did amazingly well yesterday considering I went to a huge 4th pool party. Um, didn't lose, but didn't gain, either. I stayed with P2 foods- but, know I had a little too much of them yesterday.. back to strict protocol today!!
