HCG and running

Hey y'all. 'Member me? I haven't been around much because I've been so far off the wagon I can't find it - I think at this point it may be about 3 states over. I'm really ashamed to say this, but I'm within 5 lbs of my original weight. I can't believe I've let myself get here, especially with how hard I worked to get the weight off. So I've just ordered 2 bottles of pellets from netrition.com, and I'm going to start loading as soon as they get here and start all over again. Maybe I'll actually learn something this time around.

I know there are those here who have done HCG while exercising (minimonkey!), so here's my question: Has anybody experimented with the protocol and running? I ask because there is a marathon in Disney in February, and I really want to do it. I did a half this past February and I loved it. I haven't been running for about 4 months, though, so I need to start training NOW. Also my DD has some work to do over the summer to get ready for the basketball season; we just wrapped up summer ball and her coach said she's doing great but if she wants more playing time, she needs to improve her conditioning some, so we want to run together. So I'm thinking maybe I can up my calories on the days I run to around 1200, and add maybe a half a sweet potato and/or fruit...? If anyone has done anything like this I'd love to hear about it.

Doing strenuous exercise on protocol is a bad idea. You don't have enough nutrients to adequately fuel something that physically demanding. Light exercise you are well accustomed to? Fine. But stamina is greatly impacted in P2 and even for a very healthy person a longer distance race would be way too much, as would the training for it.

Totally agree with Taryl. I was training for races before I started hcg 2 yrs ago. There is no way to do both. Not to mention hcg is more of a resetting than a diet so you don't want your body to be used to always burning those calories because then it will require it when you stop running and you will gain.

I decided to just not train for the time being so I could get faster. It's a very hard decision. Good luck!

There is no way I could give up running! I have been told to drink a protein shake with berries as soon as I wake up if I am going to continue running while on protocol. I am starting another round this week so I will keep you updated!
Just bought a new garmin and new sneakers so I will be running for sure!!

I know that I have no energy while on P2. I could barely do my 20 min leisurely walk. More power to those that can workout while on P2!

First off, big hugs to you! I've also had bad rebound gains after my multiple hcg rounds, so I know exactly how that feels!

I had to give up exercising (except walking and the necessary activity to get through my day) while on p2 -- it dragged me out really badly, and I think it led to a bad cycle of inflammation in my body. Like Dawn, I started having NO energy at all in my later p2 rounds.

I've jumped ship on hcg altogether for now -- too much p2 for way too long seems to have backfired badly on me -- so I am giving Atkins (at induction level carbs) another go, along with my heavy gym workouts again. I can work out beautifully on Atkins -- but definitely not while on p2.

Best of luck on your round! I really wouldn't suggest trying to train hard for anything while doing the p2 portion of it, but that is just my opinion. A few people seem to do fine with it -- I wasn't one of them.

Thanks, everyone. I really don't know what I'm going to do. I might give it a try, with short, slow jogs, and see how it goes. I'm definitely not a sprinter - my average pace is around 15-minute miles. If that doesn't work, then I'll dial it back to walks while on P2.

Just spoke to my doctor..he said light exercise especially the first week because cardiograph can cause an insulting spike and then see where I'm att week 2. Hth! !

I still work out every day of P2 I am able, so I do definitely understand maintaining one's routine, but the duration and intensity of the exercise is what has to necessarily change for most of us. A light jog, if you're used to it, might be perfectly doable. But a half marathon, even at a slow pace, requires a LOT of calories to be burned that you don't have. Even with all the fat stores being emptied and filling your caloric needs, weakness and fatigue are common. But your mileage may vary, you know?

Give it a shot and let us know how it goes for you, and worst case scenario you either put off the weight loss through hCG for a bit or wait until next year to do the run. Neither is the end of the world
