Never get tired of the good news regarding Noah! Been unsubscribed here for a long time but decided to skim through and see what's going on with y'all. I don't see a whole lot of new happenings but I hope everyone is happy doing what they are doing, and that they feel better than when they began. Love to all! |

Embee....check out the no-s thread in the 'other plans' forum. The quickest explanation...3 meals per day. One plate of food per meal.. No seconds, no snacks, no sweets except on days that begin with s. On s days you are free to snack, have seconds and sweets. S days can also stand for special days if you have a birthday in the middle of the week or a holiday. The only food restriction with regard to what goes on your plate is no sweets. Check out No S Diet: No snacks, sweets, seconds, except on days that start with S.
Cheryl!!! so good to see you. Hope you are well. ![]() Port is out and we are just sitting with him waiting for him to feel good enough to leave. |

Good seeing you ladies again, too. I have turned 50 since last seeing most of you and have had my own party and so have been dealing with food leftovers for a week. I also had a lot of leftover beer and wine, which are now "gone."
I have decided and determined to take the rest of 2012 off of drinking. I have had more than my share and spent way too much money on drink. So things should move along much smoother now on No S. I am considering rejoining a local gym which is my favorite one in CT. It is much less money per month then let's say BEER, so even though money is tight, it would be a very wise decision. I want to go and do the weights, swim and maybe play racquetball twice a week, then do other things at home, such as my treadmill and the old Jane Fonda Workout. I just bought a used copy of the book and I always loved doing that back in the day. It gave me the best arms of my life and my upper arms are one of my very saddest body parts. Following all these changes and keeping a journal (started a new one just the other day; on my computer, not on LCF), I will stay on track and will see good results. In other news, I was perusing Craigslist part time jobs today and found a Vet tech position in a nearby town! They asked for a cover letter and resume, so I updated my resume and created a cover letter and off I emailed them. I need lots of PRAYER about this, please!!! Pray your hearts out for me over this! I need this so desperately and it's a way for me to use my nursing skills but with animals rather than people. It sounds like I will be on the road with the Veterinarian a lot and assisting him and running errands, etc. Talk about a job made for me! There's one other thing I'd like to share. Another change for my system that I made as of 8/7. I had been taking a new medication that the Dr prescribed for me because of all my complaints of hip pain. It took him so long to order it that I had stopped taking the riding lessons which is all I needed to stop the pain. I needed something strong that would allow me to keep riding, but oh well. Anyway, I've noticed over this past month, I've become so much worse at tolerating the summer and activity at the farm. I was sweating so profusely that I couldn't keep up with drinking enough fluids. I would get queasy while grooming the horses from the exertion and would have to stop and bend over, with my hands on my thighs and my head hanging low. It wasn't until I went to refill this drug that it occurred to me that it might be the problem. I felt like I was a stone's throw from an MI or a stroke and after I googled the drug and all it's side effects, sudden death is one of them. MELOXICAM. I haven't taken any since the 7th. And on the 8th I drank my last beer.Bad juju here yesterday with the landlady and the upstairs neighbors. Have had recurring and frequent internet trouble ever since I moved in here in the early part of May. Landlady says she was unaware of the ongoing problem. The neighbors (who have the modem) were out of state for a long weekend this past weekend and when the power went out from a bad (really bad) storm, the modem needed to be reset. So I contacted the Landlady and the following day, she came out. She had to come three separate times and finally had to replace the modem. That was Monday. So yesterday we had just a second or two of power failure and down the internet went again. It's a long storey and I wrote all about it on my journal so I won't go into all that again here. Long story short, I'm nobodies idea of a great neighbor right now. But I just can't take it anymore and I want the situation resolved, once and for all. I want to be able to troubleshoot the modem myself, since I am the one who is home the most and on the internet the most, etc. Nothing but flack. Long enough post for now. Bet you wish I stayed in my own "quiet corner" of LCF. I haven't had a lot of positive things to say lately but things are majorly turning around. I'm fed up enough to get things done.

sounds like you have been having quite the time, cheryl. if i may, happy very belated birthday! i hope you had a great celebration! so sorry about the landlord/neighbor turmoil...that kinda of added stress is so not fun, i'm sure. i hope it resolves for you soon.
i am back to no-s as well. just lost focus with hcg. but i achieved most of what i set out to do with it...i don't think i got my 10-12 lbs gone (not weighing often), but clothes are fitting much better and the mirror is more favorable. i will continue the slower losses with no-s. |

Then, WTG, Dazy girl!!!! You accomplished your mission admirably. Come on over to the No S thread, which has not had a new post in many a day. I'll come back and play once I see you are over there again.
You have to admit; No S is just not one of those exciting, happening, earth-shaking plans but what we lack in dramatic daily scale reductions is more than made up with our happy smiles and contented sighs. ![]() |

HI Cheryl!!!!
Whoohoo on the not drinking, and on joining the gym! I'm focusing on metabolic restoration right now -- I need it, badly. This last p3/rebound really drove that point home. So, I am eating -- a mixed diet, whole foods, and trying to see what I can tolerate without gaining. So far, I'm doing fine with that -- weight has been incredibly stable, and I am eating as much as I want, of whatever I want. I haven't had a lot of hunger, but am trying to at least meet my supposed maintenance calories (about 1850 or so). I'm only loosely counting calories, so I have some sort of ball park. I'm having intermittent die-off symptoms from the Lyme herbs, but nothing too dramatic, and certainly quite tolerable. I'll also be seeing my old doctor in the near future -- my mom offered to pay for the visit and the tests, which is very, very sweet of her -- and I am going to take her up on that. I could definitely use to have a good, thorough hormone panel done -- I suspect my whole hormone system could use a tune up! I think between all the life stress of the past year, and the diet/physical demands on top of that, that my poor body went into crisis mode ... hence the huge rebound and such. I'm hoping some of this rebound gain starts to drop off on its own, as my body heals. For now, I am trying not to let it get me down. I'm really enjoying working out, and the opportunity to build some muscles is a welcome one -- so I am focusing on that, and on healing and nourishing myself.

Yep! I'm glad I stopped the boozing and joined the gym, too. I just love this particular gym. It has everything a gym should have, except maybe a track. But it's set up in such a way that you don't feel totally exposed to the whole place. It feels more private and that is what I need. I don't want to feel like I'm on display. At least not right now!
![]() Landlady met the cable guy here at 11 am and he said the wiring was totally shot. She said she wished she'd known about all the trouble I'd been having all this time. I told her that Joe chalked all my problems up to my office computer being "too old" and that was the reason why it couldn't pick up the wireless signal over the distance it had to travel. Now I've been vindicated. And if they can set up the modem to have a battery back-up, all problems will be finito! And maybe our relationships can mend and we can learn from the whole experience. "Amicable Resolution." I'll have to keep chanting those words. Mini, how is all the swelling you were having? Has that resolved yet? It's been so long, so I hope your answer is a resounding "YES!" What herbs do you take for the Lyme symptoms? All those special supplements can cost a fortune. I priced Glucosamine and Chondroitin and it was like $45 for a 3 month supply. I had to leave it on the shelf and walk away. But I am going to invest in some next month, after I get paid. Did I mention that I applied for a job yesterday? I don't think I wrote about it here. It's a part time Vet tech/assistant job in a nearby town. I'd be assisting the Veterinarian on his trips to here and there and doing medical stuff! It would be truly wonderful and I'm praying that it is offered to me. They asked for a resume and cover letter and so I sent them both to the only email address they provided. Please pray for me! (Oops. Already wrote about that.) Mini, I really hope this time of feeding your body and not restricting it is what will allow it to find its equilibrium again. Lord knows how long you dieted last year, not to even mention whatever you had been doing before that. Have an awesome day, ladies! Love and hugs to all of you. ![]() |

Hi Cheryl!
I'm feeling some better -- there's still water retention, but it isn't as weirdly distributed on my body, and I think it is slowly coming down (though I am still sitting at 18 lbs up from my high goal of 110 ) -- I realized that I am fighting a losing battle trying to lose lbs right now... this is classic post-diet metabolic shutdown. (I was restricting calories probably at least 9 of the past 12 months, and most of the year prior to that, too.) So, I am eating, and hopefully healing. Still having some joint pain and a few other Lyme-ish things going on, but tolerating the herbs pretty well, all things considered. Right now I am taking Cat's Claw, Cumanda, Banderol, and Grapefruit Seed Extract for the Lyme. This is a bare-bones version of a more thorough protocol, but it was all I could afford at the moment. I may go for the whole shebang in a few months, money permitting. It's not cheap, but it is a heck of a lot cheaper than going through a Lyme doc and going the pharmaceutical route! I'm actually going to be seeing my previous doctor, at least a couple of times -- my mom offered to pay for it, and I am taking her up on that. I want to have a thorough endocrine work-up done, so I can know precisely what imbalances I am trying to correct. I suspect adrenals and sex hormones are wack, and I wouldn't be surprised if thyroid is, as well. I haven't been monitoring the basal temperature, but I think I will start. I took my temp today mid-day (with 4 different digital thermometers... we have four of them between everyone in the household!) I got three different readings, lol. The two that read the same were the mid-range ones... those said 97.2. (The outliers read 96.4 and 97.7). I know you are best off using a mercury thermometer for this, but at least I'll have a sense of whether my temps are rising or not. I'm quite sure this is higher than it was a few months ago, though still not in the optimal range. (I've been known to have a temp as low as 95.5 before, though, so this is an improvement by far over that.) |

Embee -- I am wishing you continued healing with the kidneys... that just stinks!
Excellent about the p3 going so well, though ... that's fantastic. Sounds like your hormones must have been way off ... I'm wondering what my tests will show... I suspect mine are pretty off across the board. I totally forgot to take my temp this morning .. hope I will remember tomorrow. |

The interview went really well! We were talking (he, his wife and I) for over an hour. I texted my sister afterward and wrote, "Slam Dunk! But it's not a done-deal yet." I still have to fill out an application and fax it to them tomorrow. When we parted company, the woman said they had more interviews to go do, but I really felt it went as well as I dared to hope it would. My enthusiasm came shining through and I appeared confidant and I was very open and honest about everything.
I will let you know the end result! Thank you so much for your prayers. Keep 'em coming! |

Cheryl, wishing you all the best with the job!!
And, I've been meaning to stop by and tell you, you were RIGHT! I have completely given up my processed mf foods. I quit them on 8/1, and within 1 1/2 days I had hot flashes again. Now, I'm not that excited about hot flashes (not at all!) but it just goes to show the power of soy, and not in a good way. I'm glad to not be putting that in my body anymore. |

Sorry about the hot flashes, Lynne. Those are quite annoying. I am naturally hot all the time and I don't really get a "flash" but it's not unusual for me to be pulling the covers on and off me in bed all night long. I stick one leg out, pull it back in.
![]() I hope the cleaner food helps you with your weight loss progress. Have you seen a difference in that since stopping the processed meals full of soy? I need to fax in the application they gave me at the interview yesterday. I filled it out and will fax it around 3 pm, on my way to the farm for my equine care shift. (In the rain.) Then it will just be a matter of waiting and praying and having faith. ![]() Hugs to everyone here! Off to get myself moving. |

Lynne, are you one of those who can get away with coconut oil/"bark"? That is a wonderful way to get both chocolate and sweetness. I made it only once but I added crushed-up nuts (wanted walnuts but only had almonds) and some unsweetened shredded coconut flakes. Yummy!

Mini, I'm also glad you'll be able to get a work-up. You've been struggling with this for awhile now, good that you'll be able to get a clearer idea of whether something is seriously off or just more patience and clean eating is needed. ![]() |
