Oh, the night sweats are awful -- I had them for years with the Lyme (doc diagnosed me with perimenopause at... age... 20! What???) I really am in perimenopause now, lol.
The hormone balancing stuff I am doing eliminated the night sweats and a number of the other symptoms (no hot flashes anymore either) but I still have a long way to go. |

Cheryl -- I have had a lot better success treating most things using natural methods than I have with doctors, sadly. A really good doctor, who will do adequate testing, is one thing... but most of them don't do that -- and the really good ones aren't generally covered by insurance.
The patches don't strike me as dangerous, but whether they do anything at all is another matter. My skin has actually almost cleared up completely, now, thanks to the regimen listed above -- but I am not at all assuming that I won't have further break-outs. I have a few red patches left from where the sores were, and a couple of tiny places that are still a bit inflamed, but I'd look fine with makeup on, and I actually look pretty ok even without it. I am hoping that regular maintenance with the above regimen will help keep it clear.

My past two good doctors have both said I have adrenal insufficiency -- it is almost a given with Lyme, and the recent and current stresses just made it worse. I've gotten some relief with my own methods -- Shelby sent me a lot of info, and I embarked on a self-treatment method that IS helping -- but I could use all the support I can get in this arena.
I also continue to use the methods that my previous docs suggested. |

Thanks for the compliment, Embee -- That is indeed me in the profile pic -- and I am at about the same weight there as I am now, though I have gained a fair bit of upper body muscle since that was taken
I just have some stubborn fat on my lower body that plagues me, and I look and feel a lot better about ten to fifteen pounds lighter than I currrently am. Because I am very short and also fairly muscular (and getting more so, G-d willing!) I tend to look stumpy unless I am very lean. I bulk up easily, which is a blessing in many ways -- but keeping the bodyfat percentage low enough to get real muscle definition is a challenge for me. My arms define well, but my legs are more of an issue in that regard. |

yes, mini...that is where they are from. and i know, they are $$ but when you look at it from the aspect that they are for a month, there are lots of natural supps that are $45+/mo.
i actually make all my own hair/body products...everything except toothpaste and hairspray....hairspray is my nemesis...lol!! anyway....dr bronner's is primarily made with coconut oil, which, when turned into soap is a HIGHLY, HIGHLY cleansing and oil stripping soap...to a fault if the soap is not intended for oil stripping. for a gently cleansing soap, coconut must be used at low %'s. i can't use dr bronner's b/c it is way to drying from all the coconut oil in it. as an OIL, it is FABULOUS for skin....as soap...not so much when used in large %'s in the soap making process. sooooo, anyway...i digress...i made ds a soap with higher than normal amount of coconut oil along with other oils and then added sulfur to it possibly salicylic acid too i can't remember, as well as tea tree oil and lavender essential oils. i also made him a toner and moisturizer as well. when he was faithful to use it as i instructed him, it was effective...but remember, he's 14. a couple months ago, i found some homeopathic pellets for acne and they have really helped!! i have read that acne is highly responsive to homeopathy. so i am terribly curious to see what these patches could do for him if the pellets have worked so well.Last edited by dazygyrl; 07-02-2012 at 06:13 PM.. |

Can you give me the name of the pellets? Your soap sounds fabulous! I'm finding sulfur to be very, very good for me with this current breakout.
I have oily skin, so the coconut oil in the Bronner's is a great product for me -- I use it very dilute, and it doesn't dry my skin out at all, as many acne washes do. I use castor oil sometimes too on breakouts -- that can also be really drying if used in too large a quantity. Last edited by minimonkey; 07-02-2012 at 06:38 PM.. |

Mini, did you read any of the blogs? Dr. S mentions that one of the ingredients is good for adrenal fatigue/cortisol. |

I did read some of the blogs -- and don't get me wrong, it looks like a fairly good supplement -- just not necessarily that different from a lot of the other fat burners I've already tried.
Sometimes, though, a difference in dosing or some such thing can make all the difference -- I hope it works wonders for you! |

HI girls! Loving this convo that's going on here! Don't have much to add but love learning from all of you. Especially regarding acne/homeopathic medicines. Carrie, do you sell your soaps? I'd love to check it out!!
I did my first chemical peel last night, HOLY COW I think I'm addicted. When I bought it they said to do it every two weeks, does this sound right? Also, I am experiencing some MAJOR water weight retention. Someone please reassure me it is simply from lifting weights. :/ Up 7 pounds from my low of about 2 weeks ago.

Back in the 180's again, so that is a relief. Will soldier on and do my best. Mini, I just meant that people might use those patches without knowing they have that particular problem first. No clue what they put into them, but I know plenty of overweight people assume they have thyroid problems and that's not always the case. I'm glad your skin is getting better.
I now have a rash on my neck/chest. I've gotten it several times over many years and I never know why or what caused it. This showed up after being at the barn and getting involved in their hay-loading endeavor. I did the counting of bales as they were taken off the truck but I wonder if all the dust and hay particles caused it. Normally I'm fine when feeding the horses and dealing with the hay. I have just got to ride this out, once more. Hoping everyone has a lovely day and stays on their particular plan. ![]()

Back from my trip downstate and day 1 of R2. I'm doing a low carb load, maybe just one day. I was able to maintain well and even have been flirting with a new decade during my trip - we'll see if that stays!
Cheryl, yay on losing some of the water weight! Where are the wedding pictures? Good luck and good losses to all of us! We CAN do this! Last edited by pendragginp; 07-03-2012 at 10:01 AM.. |

WTG, Cheryl! Betcha tomorrow you're down a couple more, too!
I finally weighed in yesterday, but I'm just not going to put my numbers up yet. Silly, but there you have it. Suffice it to say that it wasn't as bad as I feared nor as good as I hoped. This morning was down a pound from yesterday, so that is excellent news. I, too, am fascinated by all the natural medicine and homeopathic chat. Feel like there's so much I can learn from some of you! I have a lunch date with a couple of friends today, but I know the menu of this place and I know what to have--seared ahi over field greens salad, no dressing. I'll use a bit of wasabi and soy sauce instead. Should work out fine. Have a good one, my rogue friends!

Jessica I don't put my numbers up either. It's silly I know, but doing that would seem to solidify those numbers in my crazy brain, and I don't want that.
I'm also really interested in the homeopathic/natural helps discussion. I've found that I do better on those usually than I do on dr. medicine, for many things. |

![]() It is the craziest...this is such a MIRACLE diet, but on the other hand...it can be CURSED...lol. It has to do with the foods that Dr. S researched and found that work best together. Unfortunately, if it's NOT on his list...it's TABOO and you run the risk of sabotaging yourself. BUT...you can have up/down days being on protocol 100%...you just gotta stay faithful...it will come off. That one cookie may not have caused the zero loss...just never know. Keep on truckin'!!! |

I usually do not eat my melbas & sometimes no or only 1 fruit for the day...I tend to get really full after dinner lately so can't squeeze it all in. I have added gr. beef & steak and it is helping by boosting my losses. I added a GY this week and did well...I'm skeered to add anything dairy yet I do well on eggs...a lil' fat does me good...I think! On another note...perhaps you may know...my mom did 1 round of hhcg, did okay...about -20 lbs. But she really struggled w/ it. Now she is following Weight Watchers (which she has followed forever...but her losses were slow before hhcg...about 1/2 lb. per week) and still taking the hhcg as a hunger suppressant...until she uses up her drops...so far she is doing well...not as fast as on protocol, but she is working it...1-2 lbs. each week. I'm not sure how many calories...she uses the point system...maybe 1000-1200 cal. Do you think she is safe doing this as far as sabotaging her system in the long-run? She gets very weak & tired when she goes too low in calorie and she becomes so lethargic on low-carb...she has A- blood which those people do not handle lots of meats well. I've researched to see if anyone in cyberland may be incorporating another program w/ hhcg, and haven't found anything. Thanks

What a chatty group. Glad to have so many to share with.
Feeling better after my melt down Sunday night. Still afraid of the scale as it really controls my moods. I'm trying to earn virgin territory. So far it hasn't happened. Been good so far today and TOM is almost gone...off to drink more iced tea. It really hot here today. I will check in after my 10 mile walk tomorrow. Hope get it in before the heat. I figured if the scales not moving I might as well exersize to tone up.. I ate 2 hard boiled eggs at a work picnic today with 2 slices of tomato. Shrimp tonight. Stay cool for those of you in the heat wave. Bee |
