Good morning girls!!
Mini-you sound good!! I'm so happy to read your post this morning. I hope JUDDD treats you well on the scale (when you look) and that the UD's really get your metabolism fired up!! I need to read Weight Loss Apoc. as I watched 1 of her videos this morning and totally agree w. her. We need a "do-over" with our relationship to food and social eating/celebration is a big part of that to me. I also need to spend more time working on projects and interests, not focusing on food. Really challenging to me!! Lara- you just crack me up. Wish you lived a bit further north, I know we'd be buds IRL. I'd stick LC for the overall day. That's where I'm leaning these days, so I'm likely biased . Curbed appetite already for me today, which is a blessing!!Cocoa-that's pretty stable!! WTG!! Hope the packing goes well and you have a great day!! Oh, El Torito is a good Mexican place. there are locations near LA. Their Sunday brunch is my favorite (really all I've done there actually). Homemade corn tortillas and tacos, sweet corn cake, omlette station, tamales etc. Yum! Dbunny-great job on the scale!! Sorry for this sad time, but you're doing so well! Sunny-whatever you're doing, it's working for you!! Hope you are less sore today! I'm feeling good. I'm down a bit today, but still way over my LDW. I'm pretty confident my "tuna day" yesterday netted me 2-3lbs loss, but then again, I was really eating a lot this past weekend. I'm sticking pretty LC for now. Feel good, working on listening to my hunger and not giving in to social cues (times, groups, etc). It's really silly that at 43 I need to re-train myself to eat only when hungry, and only until I'm satisfied. But, I'm encouraged. I plan to hit the gym today. Lifting for sure, and probably some HIIT too. Doing zumba w. my BFF on Thurs. too. (proud of myself. Decided to get together since we hadn't seen each other much lately and asked if she'd like to go workout together. Not just go out to eat, like we usually do. I'd call that progress ).Played softball last night in 111deg. I fielded well (1st base) but my hitting was poor . No one else hit either, but that's small consolation. We lost . Sigh. After sweating like a fool, I think we deserved a win. At least it was fun (kind of). And kept me out of the kitchen ![]() Have a great day ladies!!

You'll be fine. Just BACK AWAY from the bagels... to everyone. WELCOME to the newbies, Cyn and Suzi, yes?~~~~~~ So I had another HUGE calorie day yesterday, maybe taking a book out of Julie's RRARFing ( ) at around ~2900 calories. I am averaging well over 2500 for the last week with minimal exercise and that makes me very happy. I gained about 0.5 yesterday but I am still under 145 by a hair so I am perfectly happy here, especially if I can eat like this. I am suspecting a bit of a return of my GY sensitivity or possibly sugar alcohols so I am going to lay off both of those today, eat eggs for breakfast, and fish for dinner, while trying to keep calories pretty high, and see what the scale says tomorrow. My "girls" are filling back in so I am really feeling like anything under 140 for me is just too low. That's not abnormal fat, really it isn't... ![]() In boy news, can I just say, ??? All of a sudden he misses me??? Really? What EXACTLY are you missing? Me cooking for you? Polite conversation over dinner? Daily text messages? Because I can have that with my cousin or my girlfriends... Seriously! grrrrrr... ![]()

That RRARF is fun, isn't it? Rest, eat, repeat? Love it! It's been good for me and I suspect you'll be doing well from it too. Check your temps. They may be up too, which is a good sign. And eating that many cals and not gaining much? WTG!! And the "girls" refilling is good. I can tell mine are more deflated lately and am hoping they stay put if I lose a bit more. We'll see. And regarding boys? Be strong. He's missing you and realizing he took you for granted. Which is likely partly why you broke up w. him!! You need/want more. A true soulmate who will pursue you, please you, love you and challenge you. It's out there, rare, but exists!! Be picky!! Lara- Yes, come Nov and cooler temps we'll have to meet up. I'm kinda adjusted to the weather here now. Didn't even really mind the heat last night at softball (111!!). Taking the kids swimming and still get cold when we swim. Crazy!! Enjoy your lunch. and the bagel !! P4 is fun!! Dbunny-yep, the wine can make you retain. Keeping it clean is good, you'll be back down tomorrow. Ok, need to go to the gym. Cocoa --
El Torito is pretty good "Mexican" food -- it's a big chain, and like Shelby said, it's a bit like Chevy's or Chili's. Where in CA are you visiting? I'm a Bay Area gal, so if I can help with recommendations, I am happy to do so... There is some seriusly great real mexican food to be had in SF! Great job staying in your window! The only one I really know in the Val is Casa Vega. I like Gilbert's El Indio and Don Antonio's on the westside. Casablanca in Venice for central Mexican and seafood, then there's that place with the spinach enchildas on Wilshire... Oh and Tito's Tacos, of course! (Sing it with me girls--I love Tito's tacos, you love Tito's too. I love Tito's tacos, what else can ya do? You can also try delicious burritos, chips and salsa, enchiladas too. The only thing better than a Tito's taco--is two!)Quote:

LOL -- all these Cali gals (including me) trying to play tour guide makes me laugh!
I am water retention central today -- no scale but the puffiness doesn't lie -- it's a down day and I am HUNGRY. I just ate 400 of my 500 calories for the day, and will munch on veggies for the rest of the day as needed. I suspect water and maybe some fiber (psyllium) may be my friends today. I am also going to hit the gym later for a good workout, and engage in some more major house cleanage -- that part feels good. Tomorrow I embark on some calorie control on the up days -- and after a couple days of that, I will get on the scale. I am trying to be very patient with this process, and realize that all of this is necessary to get where I need/want to be --

I was reading the rogues thread and saw you were still having some issues with your face. I wanted to mention this before I forgot about it... I ran across an unusual treatment for acne just by accident. I use magnesium oil on my body twice daily as I have chronic low mag--it's not really an oil but a concentration of magnesium chloride. Applied transdermally, magnesium oil kind of burns and itches--sounds lovely, eh?--but REALLY works to raise mag levels without the GI side-effects of lots of oral mag. Anyway, one day I decided to put a touch on a stubborn breakout. Once my eyes stopped watering (OW!), I had hope that it would dry up the breakout. The next morning I woke up and it was completely gone. Really seriously gone. I use it now on "pending" breakouts, fungal infections, allergic rashes, etc. It works better on some things than others but I thought I would mention it as I know that you are one tough little cookie when it comes to cosmetic treatments and pain! Might be worth a shot. Plus, about 85% of women are mag deficient anyway.(btw, I derma-rollered the cr@p out of my face last night and used a little mag oil on some pending zits--owowow. I am alternating 0.5mm and 1mm every couple of days and am about ready to upgrade... cue dramatic theme music!) |

. But, again, I don't do anything but their brunch. You can get good Japanese food in LA if you like that!! And Mexican? I'm in North Mexico here in AZ - we've got more little authentic places than you can shake a stick at here!! Stop on your way to LA .Quote:
. I think there may a connection there. I was watching a Robin Woodall video, and she was talking about loving food being ok, but choosing quality and taste, not quantity. Felt good about that. We moved from Philly where subs rule-the roll makes a LOT of difference (and cheesesteaks, don't get me started!!) and pizza was super easy to find. Out here in AZ it's taken us almost 7 years to find good pizza. I can eat w. the best of them!! Mini-we'll be up in NCal in Nov. You'll have to give me suggestions. Our BFF's w/ their dd's will be with us. I think we're staying near Oakland, but doing SFran at least twice. Planning a trip up to Monterrey, and Sonoma or Napa too. Took the girls swimming, still amazed that once I'm wet I freeze - even in 106deg!! Evaporative cooling is really effective! Fun day though. Got a good weights workout in. Have any of you heard of hot pants? Someone here at LCF mentioned it to me. Got a groupon for it, so they were cheaper. Kinda' like a we suit in capris. Wore those to the gym today, did a 45 min weight workout. I had sweat dripping down my legs, and all along the waist band, and NO cardio? Crazy. I'm afraid to wear them to zumba. What would that be like? I love how my legs felt in the shower though. Really soft and smooth. Supposed to help w. cellulite. We'll see.![]() |

I HAD PASTAAAAAA, whole grain and a cheeseburger AND a tuna sandwhich, I am sure you can tell the order, dinner, lunch, lunch? LOL I didn't have breakfast. Whole grain carb feed fest!!! Anywho, I'm ok, not freaking out...let's just consider this a "test" of my carb tolerance hehehe
![]() I did not however indulge in the coconut creme brulee that was staring at me upon the ending of my dinner. I said "NO!!!" lol....carbs AND sugar can wait until I go to New Orleans hehehe ![]() Julie I love me some food...and it doesn't help I am married to a former trained chef, HOWEVER, I will say, he has learned to work with the ingredients I CAN indulge in (bless his heart) and is open to trying anything, even my low carb baking, yay! So jealous of you Cali girls, it's my fav place ever!!! One day we will move there, preferably near Frisco, just us and the 3 Chi's!!!! And with hubby being a musician it just works!

Julie -- I live right next to Oakland! We should plan to meet up, if you have time!
SunnyFL -- if you move here, you will never call it Frisco again, lol! That annoys the locals. Oh, and as food goes... I flippin' love Ethiopian food, more than just about any other cuisine. Burmese is right behind, as are Indian and Thai ... For this reason alone, I need to get my carb tolerance high enough to enjoy Ingera bread every so often! |

Shelby -- I have some transdermal magnesium oil -- I use it on sore muscles sometimes. I am going to go put that on a test zit right away!
Yes, this was the mother of all cystic acne outbreaks -- I think it was the cleanse that did it, as it so often does. It's clearing now, but there are a few areas that are still in pretty bad shape. I find sea salt in warm water very helpful, and also castor oil (oddly enough) -- but I will give the magnesium oil a try! Last edited by minimonkey; 06-20-2012 at 12:16 AM.. |

Dude, Shelby -- that DOES sting, and how! Glad I had a warning about that, lol! No worse than all the peels and such that I use, though ... and after all, I do basically use a mini-rototiller on my face, so a little pain for beauty is nothing at all in the grand scheme of things.
Glad to hear you are about to upgrade dermarollers (man, I bet the mag oil stings like the dickens after rolling!) -- you are at about that magic point where the dermarolling benefits start being apparent, and they just keep getting better! I'm about due for another roll myself, which I will do once the acne has cleared completely. I'm a little scared to try the Nerium again, in case it was a player in the break out, but I probably will, and will just abandon ship if it looks to be breaking me out yet again, Last edited by minimonkey; 06-20-2012 at 12:22 AM.. |

Julie -- I have a pair of neoprene capris and a pair of the shorts -- I'm guessing they are the same idea as the hot pants -- sweat city! I love them for working out in the winter -- they are certainly a sweat-fest when doing cardio though!
I think I should drag those back out, now that you mention them. I think they do help with cellulite somewhat -- they reduce the water retention in the legs, in any event. |

sdkeeran --
I think any exercise will generally cause a gain of a couple of pounds -- probably including bikram yoga. Anything that works the muscles cause them to retain water, which they need in order to heal and get stronger. For me, it is well worth a couple of pounds on the scale to be able to work out. Of course, with the bikram, you may just sweat enough to make up for the muscular water retention, lol! |
