How many calories on p3?
I have read conflicting info, some places it says 1500 others it says to use your bmr. My BMR is 1950 calories. Iam on day 3 of phase 3 and am up 1.6 pounds. I am very nervous about it all.

How many calories are you getting now? I have never counted calories in P3. I just went with the rule that Simeons' put in his manual "no starch no sugar". Just went with that. Some subscribe to the calorie theory, but I followed the Atkins theory, when you cut out the carbs you can eat a lot of protein and fat! And I did! It worked for me.
The other thing to think about is....what would you rather be eating....1500 calories or 1950. For me, personally I would rather be eating 1950. As long as you stick to the rules you can do that and NOT gain weight. If you have been under the 1950 and gaining you are NOT eating enough.

I eased into P3 based on others experience. Day 1 800 Cals, then 1200, then 1500, then about 1950 which was my BMR. I stabilized great and only noticed a gain if I did too much dairy. I became addicted to the cheesecake muffins! LOL Dairygets most people so just be careful and ease into it and don't overdo it.

I did the same - I eased into P3 and did my best to eat only to remove hunger and feel satisfied. I think I was at around 500 cals my first day! I'm in week 3 of P3 and I've also stabilized pretty well. Like CaTriGirl, I notice gains when I eat tons of dairy. I'm afraid to make the cream cheese muffins
I'd say listen to your body. If you get to 1950 cals, great! If not, don't force it. Sometimes, trying to get smart about calorie calculations can lead you into trouble ![]()

P3 calorie count
I actually haven't counted any calories on this round and just did the "no sugar or starches". My BMR is somewhere around 1900 as well and I'm not sure if I've gone over or under. I've actually eaten a lot of fatty foods (bacon, eggs, cream) and I'm amazed that the scale doesn't move. Also I haven't been really hungry and sometimes I have to force myself to eat. I just try to get as much protein as I can and try not to worry about calories.
I did catch a cold the last few days and broke down and drank orange juice (which said it had over 30g carbs) but the scale still didn't reflect any change. I will start to introduce little things and see what happens, just not anything with lots of carbs. Good luck on stabilizing on P3...we should all enjoy that we actually get to "eat" now ![]() |
