Science behind correction day being done on exact day of weight gain

I know the protocol says that CD needs to be done on the day of weight gain 2.1+lbs above LDW. I've noticed that if you wait a day, results might not be effective as expected.

Anyone know why?

I don't know the scientific reason why, but my personal experience is that it is true enough. If I wait, it is not nearly as effective no matter how much I may choose to ignore that fact when one is necessary and I want to delay it due to some commitment or personal preference. I wish I knew and I wonder if that book does shed some light. I haven't read it yet.

It's not. She is not a fan of cd's--thinks it plays into the feast or famine mentality. Her advice is to eat to hunger at all times, including after overindulging. She also isn't a fan of weighing every day as it really plays into the food/emotion tie.

My 2 cents on the whole thing is that Dr. S didn't really know WHY it worked but it did. Based on some of the things that I know about IF (intermittent fasting) and JUDDD, I would postulate that because MANY of the cd's are relatively high protein/high fat/low calorie...

egg cd = 700-1000 calories (no fat)
steak (16oz) = <1000 calories for the steak
GY cd (full fat) = ~1500 calories (including 8 oz berries)

...that they MIGHT do a couple of things....

1) allow you to dump any water that you are holding onto due to sugar/carb water retention
2) get you back to "clean" foods so that any water retention from sensitivities is decreased
3) trick your body into producing some enzymes that allow your body to burn the excess calories from the day before as opposed to storing them.
4) get your body back as quickly as possible to your LDW so the setpoint "sticks" as opposed to going back to a different and higher setpoint.

This is pure speculation, although I think we have all experienced how hard it is to get back down if we wait more than a day. JMHO

I agree with the emotional tie thing. I feel indifferent every morning and depending on the scale......my mood is great or sad. I hate that!

Thanks so much Shelby and Marie! thanks Shelby for the huge info you added. I have to say that I am a really big fan of the intermittent fasting every now and then. It feels good and gives you energy. I like to do that when on vacation so I don't feel sluggish in the mornings/if going to the pool/beach.

I did a GY CD on the day I posted this. I wasn't a fan of them before but I think I resorted to them on days post weight gain. So I would not lose much probably be I didn't tackle the weight right away. Usually, I lose a good 2-2.5lbs on a GYCD. I didn't gain anything back either. Before, I would bounce back up after a CD. But I'm 3 weeks into P3 at this point, so I'm just now stabilizing- its my 5th round so it takes me much longer. I'll be on P3 for another 2 weeks.

I'd like to point out (totally unrelated) that when I'm on P3, red wine - merlot is always so safe. I can have 2-3 glasses when I'm at a social setting and I never gain
